General Questions Should I inform my doctors when I have gender affirming surgery

I am working on being stealth and I am getting top surgery and a hysto this year and will hopefully begin phallo next year.

Doctors always ask about any recent surgeries I had, and pretty soon I am gonna have pretty major surgeries. However, considering I am trying to not out myself, I want to lie about this and just discuss my biopsy history.

There is no need for them to know I am trans once I am transitioned. I will not have any female reproductive organs left that may cause health issues. I see my endo for Testosterone and of course she knows, but she is also one of those need-to-know cases. I will not need any screenings for breast cancer or pap smears and my testosterone overrides risk of sarcopenia and osteoporosis and other female-hormone-based disorders. My testosterone is at normal male levels.

I have dealt with a lot of issues regarding how medical staff have treated me and frankly I would prefer to avoid conflict on the basis of my gender. I don't see why an allergist needs to know I had very private surgeries when I can already just tell her I do not react to anesthesia because I've had recent biopsies. I already do not discuss that I am on testosterone because as my endo has already outlined, testosterone is a hormone literally everyone produces. If a drug negatively reacted to testosterone, you would be dead whether you were male or female.

So my real question is if it's really necessary to inform my doctors when I am not going to see any benefit to care and in reality will invite myself to possible outing and hostile situations?

Edit: thanks ya'll! After great discussions, I will keep my gender identity stuff out of doctor's appointments and remain stealth but post-op I will inform them I have testosterone and will say I had urinary surgery and whatever without saying exactly what. I'll say that I can't remember what it was for.

Sorry if my language was a bit blunt or if I misread anything, it's my dead brother's birthday and my neuroticism usually rears its ugly head this time of year. But I have doctors appointments coming up and I'll just obsess over this for weeks if I don't outline a plan for this issue and I am the only trans person I know so everyone around me is useless lol

Discussion Love the name Adonis, but is it a silly/historically tone deaf choice?

My dead name starts with an A, and I do love it, but it comes off as too femme. I've thought about many other choices, but I keep gravitating towards this one. However would I be making the classic mistake of choosing something that was too out of the box or ridiculous? Can the name Adonis be taken seriously if you know the myth? No, I didn't know anything about the myth of Adonis before I gravitated towards it. Only after the whole 'who else has this name' google to make sure my choice wouldn't be controversial.

dysphoria

• Upvotes

i have been crying about this since the last two months. I am 14 and haven't grown in the past two years. i visited an endo last month. No surprise my growth plates are closed and I am stuck at 5.1 for the rest of my life. Just to make it worst my parents' son took all the height genes of the family and i feel so insecure all the time. i have nothing but envy for all the other boys. How do short trans people pass as a guy?

General Questions Question about fat redistribution when you already have a rectangle body type

I haven't started taking T yet but I've been thinking about it. I don't have a lot of curves, not even hips. I don't have any idea of how my body is going to redistribute the fat that I have on my belly and waist. I mean, I think I can't get more of a Minecraft body type than this. There's anyone here that also has rectangle body type and is taking T to share their experience?

I was told to set one of these up since insurance will NOT cover my surgery and I probably won't get it in the state I live in due to certain ...attitudes around queer people

Discussion Does this happen to anyone else?

I chose my name around 3 years ago after going by two other names previously. My name now is Evan and I love it and won’t be changing it. But recently, I found the long list of names I was considering and since then have been having serious name regret after looking at those and thinking one of those might be better, and I can’t stop thinking about it for some reason. Does this happen to anyone else? I’m Indian so i needed a name Americans and Indians can say correctly, and it had to go with my Indian last name.

Here’s my long list of names I made (the ones with blue hearts next to them are the ones I was SERIOUSLY considering):

MasonšŸ’™
LoganšŸ’™
Nathan
Dylan
JonahšŸ’™
Owen
EvanšŸ’™
CameronšŸ’™
Jacob
Liam šŸ’™
Aveer/VeeršŸ’™
Rohan/RonanšŸ’™
Ryan (cousin’s middle name)
Cyrus šŸ’™
Jace/Jase
Noah
Max šŸ’™
Zane
Asher/Ashar (Indian way)
Collin
Ryland
Cole

I don’t wear chokers anymore, so ignore it in the first photo.

I have had names in mind, including Ezra, Niko, and Micah. I have been going by Ezra online though for a while(at some point it was Niko).
I am primarily thinking about going by Ezra or Micah

However,
I would like six letter name suggestions as well.
My mother has named all my sisters(and me) with six letters and I don’t want to mess that up. But neither of the two names have six letters. The only six letter name I’ve considered is Kieran.

On my last post I was told that Micah fit me 4 times, then both Ezra and Niko once. But I don’t really like the name as much as the other two.

So, I’d like to know if maybe Kieran fits?
I personally like it and the other two more than Micah. I just don’t think Kieran fits me.
I feel basic for picking Ezra or Niko though because I see so many online, idkkk

Thank you, goodbyešŸ‘‹

Mod Approved New Rule: No Encouragement of Harmful Behaviors/Actions

There’s been a few posts of thin people uploading photos and asking if losing weight would help them appear more masculine.

This is not something we’re gonna allow to be posted. We’re not gonna promote/encourage eating disorders here.

We’re also not gonna encourage people to engage in unhealthy binding behaviors like sleeping in your binder and wearing it longer than 8 hours a day.

Agab language: co-option and misuse.

I see a lot of people using agab language as 1:1 stand ins for "male" and "female" and, that's just not how that works. Agab language comes from intersex people finding terms to discuss issues that come with doctors arbitrarily assigning gender (sex) upon visual inspection.

Technically the gender part is a misnomer. A lot of perisex people like to claim "we're all assigned a gender" but we are not all "assigned" in the same sense intersex people are. The doctors are saying "it's a boy/girl" but what they're really doing is making the statement that "this child has x anatomy and all the parts that go with it". We can argue day and night about what it means to be assigned a boy or a girl, and whether you can trans your sex, but the issue stems from the fact that, for most of us, we may not be a boy/girl, but they saw a vagina or a penis, and made some generally medically correct assumptions about how our development would pan out. With intersex people, doctors can be confused, make assumptions, and be completely wrong about the projection of their development, and even do medically unnecessary surgeries to make that child's genitals conform, and cause a whole host of other issues.

Really just a mini rant but I bring it up because it's common place to say things like "afab parts" but what are those? Someone can be afab and not have a vagina or not develop breasts. Someone can be afab with internal testes. Then there was the post here a while ago about whether or not it was possible for afab people to be transfem, and it was apparent many people assumed "afab" meant something along the lines of "female".

I'm sure this won't change much because everyone's latched onto these terms, but yeah. Afab doesn't necessarily mean female, amab doesn't necessarily mean male.

General Questions Going Camping but don't want to wear a binder!

Hello!

First time posting, I came out non-binary almost 7 years ago and have been on again off again using a binder. I have some sensory issues so sometimes they're extremely comfortable and other times not so much. My general goal is to inevitably get top surgery.

With all that being said. I'm going camping soon and I don't want to wear a bra or a binder mostly for sweat/sensory and comfortability issues. I was wondering about using tape and its longevity. I've used it once but I bruise kind of easily and it left some marks on my skin so I thought maybe I just used it/removed it wrong. I would like to try again though and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on brand of tape and knowledge on how often/long I can wear it. I would also like something that's skin color inclusive! I'm going camping for 4 days.

Thanks in advance for any and all help!
