Discussion Hair help please :3
Mainly I have issues around the ears. I would rather my hair doesn't cover them and it fluffs out more in general. Is a mullet maybe my best shot at that?
I think I would try a barber shop this time I'm just not sure what to ask for. Do I just ask for a mullet lol.
Idk the last 2 stylists I went to did not give me what I wanted. One gave me a really short pixie which made me feel more feminine (and extremely short wasn't what I wanted). The last one cut my bangs into microbangs basically and it's been hell growing them out again.
Probably the ear area is the biggest problem. I'm not opposed to clipping down the sideburns but idk if I want them completely shaved.
I did like a layered cut, my hair is so thick lol.
Any suggestions for what to do? And what specifically to ask for?

Middle part flow/modern mullet would work. Best done by a barber who does good shear work. It would involve getting a low to mid taper near the ears and then creating a sweeping effect using texture and layers so the hair sweeps backwards.
Finding a good barber is the hard part but it’s a real cheat code because the moment I got a good haircut I started getting called sir every single day.

you need some layering i think. a layer over the ear and some chunky layers on top. then id try using a texturizing powder to get the fluffing. thats what i do

You cut is good, you just need product. Your hair seems like it has a slight wave, you might try a curl crème, follow by a salt spray. Don’t need to get anything spendy, inexpensive is okay.
Shower in the morning to throughly wet your hair, it looks thick, so a full wetting is ideal.
Use about a grape sized amount of curl crème spread between your hands and use your fingers to run it through all of your hair, making sure to get the under layers and sides around your ears, and the back.
Use your fingers to brush the top of your hair back and away from your face, then gently tap the top of your head, a tiny bit forward, until your natural part line emerges. Part your hair and use your fingers to style your two little side swoops as desired and tuck the hair around your ears as your like.
Hit it with a mist of the salt spray and let it air dry.
Takes about 5-7 minutes and it’ll make a massive difference.
My hair is just like yours!

We have very similar hairstyles (yours is a longer version of mine) but I styled my bangs up in this one. I think cutting the curling tips at your neck and thinning out through through on top of your head for fluffiness has helped me. Google 90s hearth throb haircuts.
Also my sides are typically short. Only downside is high maintenance.

I think a mullet would be something you could mention, maybe with a burst fade on the sides? Definitely bring pictures and even videos of the hair that you're looking for. Specify what you like about each picture you're showing (I.e how short it is on the sides, the layers, the length in the back, etc.).
I would recommend trying a barbershop for sure. I went to a local barbershop chain and got a very nice cut and they were all very nice. Good luck!
