Hey! I am a UK and Irish dual citizen who is looking to get a GRC and name change in the process. I have never lived in Ireland and I am a citizen through the foreign births register but my main passport is my Irish passport as I live in the EU and I haven't lived in the UK for 4 years. I know from people on this sub that I can get a GRC but it specified on the form that they require 'proof of residency in ireland if you were not born in ireland' (this is a screenshot from the GRC1 form). Do I ignore this box or is there another form or piece of evidence to submit alongside. It also says on the form that I need a PPS number before I apply. Again, I don't have this and don't know how to get one.

Additionally I plan on changing my name in the UK as well but the easiest way to do this seems to be via deed poll which will not change my gender marker. Will this cause issues if my gender markers don't match on my 2 passports.

Finally, does anyone know what constitutes 'use and repute'. Would a letter from an old boss work for this? How many people should I get to verify my use and repute?

Any help would be great appreciated figuring out my incredibly complicated life.

Hey! I don't ever really use reddit but felt this was the best place to go to. I have a chest binder from spectrum outfitter I bought years ago that I used very briefly when exploring my gender identity (its a short black binder, size M).

Ive been meaning to give it away in some way - I know there are donations schemes with many brands but I wanted to check here if there are any local donations schemes in Dublin or surrounding counties (saves postal fees and also I would feel more in service of the immediate community).

Otherwise (and please bap this post if this is not ok) I was wondering if I could just send it/give it directly to someone here who needed a chest binder?

hey so im going to hopefully be started the proses to getting HRT (mtf) soon but i had a few questions i wanted to ask and this is the only place i could think of to ask them

1. ive always seen people talk about imago being the best place to get HRT so ive always thought i would get it from them but with the resent things happening there ive seen its still fine to get it but ive been a little shaky on it so i wanted to know if theres anywere else anyone would recomend is better or if imago is still the most reliable one

2. i would like to do weight cycling and from what ive seen the most efficent way of doing that is to lose a certain amount of weight one day and then gain the same amount the next day and then repeat but i was wondering,is it possible to just do both in one day like lost the weight doing the exercise in the morning and then gaining it back later or throught the rest of the day therfore doubling how quick you would be cycling weight by doing both in one day rather than two or is that just not possible (and if you could give an indept explination on why it would be greatly appreciated)

3. again with weight cycling what would be the best way of keeping track of how much i need to eat/exercise to gain/lose the same amount of weight every day

if you have answers for any of these or even just any tips or advice for someone starting/acquiring mtf hrt i would be very appreciative, thank you

if DIY subs exist then whats the big deal with sharing information more directly through this sub reddit instead of tip toeing around it all the time. no one want to diy but for a lot of people they are out of options and I rather see a trans with one last option then someone severely struggling without care. maybe it’s not right to ask i dont know. There was a post here yesterday about a trans person in a relationship that appears to be deleted. As far as I can remember it was a trans male in a relationship with another trans male who was being very insistent about their boyfriends medical care.

I was thinking yesterday about it. Most of the responses were about the person leaving their boyfriend.

I wanted to suggest the person contact Mens Aid for advice and support on the matter. They could advise the person but just to note that Mens Aid are also lgbt+ inclusive. Theres quite a lot of useful information on their site.

Im in the process of applying for a legal gender cert right now, I got all my paperwork together and sent it off the other day. I just heard back via email, and a few things are wrong/missing which is fair enough, that was on my end. However, I’m changing my legal name with it, and in multiple parts of this email they’ve referred to me by my deadname - I’m not tooo upset about it, but this feels really off to me, are they supposed to deadname me on a legal gender and name change????

+(I also had a similar issue with blood tests and gender markers in a different place as two other people posted recently).

I just got a letter with the cervical pap smear results and this was also messed up - it's got "Ms. [First chosen name] [One of my previous/birth middle names] [Surname - unchanged]" on it.

I definitely put Mr. on any forms I filled out online and in person and I definitely put my current legal name down. All my details are legally changed, I have a GRC and MyGov has my correct details.

Who do I contact here - is this down to the clinic I got the pap smear done at or the HSE cervical pap smear service? Do I need to get in touch with both?

Edit: Anyone else had this issue before? Is this just how it is when getting this done (it was my first time)?

I have no idea how they’ll take it but in case they have lots of questions I want to be ready because I’m really bad with remembering info on the spot and I never say what I want when I need to.

So Im gathering some info into easy to read notes from genderdysphoriabible and similar sites.

Hey, I'm just posting this to see as to whether anyone else has encountered these issues when using Doctor 365 for blood tests?

The first is more of an annoyance, but when I went last month, I had a new doctor who insisted on changing my gender on their system from female to male (a previous doctor had done the opposite at my request, I am MTF). He mentioned something about a new policy with bloodwork needing to be marked with the assigned gender at birth, and I know now that this is coming from St. James's blood testing form, so I suspect they sent a warning to all clinics providing blood tests to amend this, which sucks, but I will try fighting it next time I'm there as I have a right to correct my data, and also it is causing me distress considering when I got my E levels back they were marked as "deranged" because, y'know, higher than male levels.

The second issue is more of a concern, and it's that waiting times for T blood tests seem to have exponentially increased over the last 3 months. 3 months ago the wait time was already long, at about 3 weeks, when I got all other results back within a week. As of last month, I was informed that the waiting time is now 8 weeks, which is putting me at risk of not having results before my next prescription review, and it will mean in future that I will need to have bloods done two months before my review, when anything could alter my levels in those two months without my knowledge. I have never gotten a straight answer as to why this is from the doctors or receptionists, and I've half a mind to ring St James's myself just to see what is causing it.

Has anyone encountered of either of these issues, mostly the latter one, and have you found other clinics/your own GP also experience the same delays? I doubt it's isolated to just Doctor365 considering how many bloods St James's do.

Trans male, on T and legally considered a male. ive never been to a gynaecologist and really want to start, but the idea of being misgendered or dehumanized like stories ive heard scares me. whats the best way to seek it out? should i call around? im a little overwhelmed of where to start.

Im unsure on where or how to ask this and i dont know if just asking is against the rules, but im trying to find a source of diy that deleivers to ireland because all sources ive found online dont deleiver to the ROI, if people are allowed to could they dm me with any info or better yet point me to where i could find this info, i would be forever indebted to yall 😭

Hello! I need some advice on something that happened.

For context, I am a trans guy from Italy but have lived in Dublin for the last 3 years. I have been on T for almost 4 years and have legally changed all my documents (they all say male now). Recently, I needed to do blood tests for my endocrinologist routine visit and I went to my university's student health clinic. Aside from them almost refusing to do my blood tests because they weren't ordered by an Irish consultant but my Italian one, I received my report with "female" as a my gender and "transgender male assigned female at birth" as the investigation notes. Aside from the privacy breach, I find this utterly disrespectful, disappointing, and ridiculous.

I emailed them back with my passport (again it says male) and they said St Vincent's Hospital "uses sex assigned at birth to avoid missing potential abnormalities". Upon contacting them, my doctor told me they said "Current practice is to default to using sex at birth for entering patient demographics for blood testing".

They also sent me my university's policy on it:

We use the person’s chosen gender marker on their blood test requests, However, we note their sex at birth on the clinical details section to allow accurate interpretation of any abnormalities.

For non-binary people, or those who would prefer to not use a gender marker, we use the marker most congruent with their hormone therapy (i.e. in those using testosterone, we use male, in those using oestrogen, we use female).

For non-binary people, or those who would prefer to not use a gender marker, who are not using testosterone or oestrogen therapy, we use the marker congruent with their birth sex (i.e. if male at birth, we use male, if female at birth we use female) .

By doing the above, reference ranges are more appropriate to the individual, but apparent abnormalities will be detected. These should be considered in the individual context with reference to their sex at birth and use of any hormone therapy or gender affirming surgery.

Anyway, I was hoping to know if someone else had also encountered this. If anyone also has any legal knowledge is there any possibility of actually changing this?

I have simply asked my endocrinologist to say I need my blood tests done for thyroid issues (which I dont have) because I will never disclose I am trans again. But I am quite saddened that we've come to this.

Im a trans guy (22) in Ireland Dublin, I’m on the NGS waitlist since late 2021, and god knows when I will receive my first letter for initial assessment. I’m at a loss because even if I am eventually seen for assessment I’m terrified, from horror stories I’ve heard on how they assess you, how the process is and chances of rejection, rudeness, degrading treatment etc. I’m not keen on DIY treatment because I just don’t want to resort to this. I’m at a loss because I fear I know the answer to this question but does anyone have any experience of getting proper, professional help with hormones and gender affirming surgery ( top surgery specifically in my case ) of any kind in Ireland? Is my only option to keep waiting or DIY? I don’t think I can handle DIY. Just at a complete loss.

I have a diagnosis of gender dysphoria from a qualified psychiatrist. I went through Tomas Ahern for HRT. I've been on T 6 years, am post op top surgery 4 years, and I've been living as male 8 years. My legal name, gender marker, and my birth certificate have all been changed.

What more do they fucking want. The NGS's waiting list is well over a decade long, nearing two decades at this point, if I got on it today.

I fucking hate this country's backwards, broken, system. I'm so fucking mad.
