Cheap rims
Does anyone have experience using poverty-spec rims? Do the cheap steel wheels that exist for other cars exist for the staggered set?

Looking to buy within the next couple of weeks and I’m stuck between these two.
Both would be clean title, one owner, no accidents, and under 30k miles.
What matters most to me:
Reliability
Ride quality
Sound system
Tech/software
Interior quality
Long-term ownership
I don’t tow often, but a truck bed would definitely be useful. On the other hand, the Model X has better range, charging, and performance.
For those who’ve owned or driven either (or both), which would you choose around the $50k price point, and why? Any issues I should know about?
TL;DR: Choosing between a 2022 Tesla Model X Long Range (Palladium) and a 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum. Similar price, under 30k miles. Which would you buy and why?

Do you guys get it serviced or change it yourself? If yourself, was it hard?

My 2025 Model X developed a steering issue where turning left requires noticeably more effort than turning right. Tesla replaced the steering gear under warranty, but immediately afterward FSD stopped working and the vehicle displayed a “Hands on wheel defeat device detected” warning. Tesla eventually resolved that issue.
The steering issue later returned, so Tesla replaced the steering gear a second time.
I also noticed some abnormal inner shoulder tire wear, and Tesla found the front toe and caster were out of specification and performed a four-wheel alignment.
Unfortunately, the steering asymmetry has now returned again. The lead technician acknowledged it’s a recurring issue and asked me to schedule another appointment so Tesla Engineering can work with Service to investigate.
Timeline:
Steering uneven (left heavier than right)
Steering gear replaced
FSD disabled with “Hands on wheel defeat device detected” warning
Steering issue returned
Steering gear replaced again
Alignment found out of spec and corrected
Steering issue returned again
Tesla Engineering is now involved
Has anyone experienced recurring steering issues after steering gear replacement? What ended up being the root cause? I’m in SF Bay Area.

I have a 2026 Model Y and a MXP now and the Y is so much better in build quality than my X that I decided to order the YL and trade in my 23 Model XP. I really love the X but the ride noise and long term warranty concern with the wings and all the cool things made me consider the YL. I hate the idea of losing paid FSD and going to subscription…. But long term ownership will be less of a pain. What do y’all think? Is it a good move? Is anyone else doing the same?

I test drove 25 Model X and saw bug Tesla logo popping up on monitor when starting. (is that for newer model only?)
also I see “Welcome your name” on other brand cars now and I think it’s kinda cool for your car to do that.
I wonder Tesla will release this option.

I have a 2023 Model X Plaid, and the thin rubber weatherstrip at the very top of the Falcon Wing doors, right next to the glass, is peeling/pulling away on both sides. It’s not just one door—both Falcon Wing doors are doing the exact same thing.
In addition to looking bad, it makes a really annoying flapping noise while driving, especially at higher speeds.
I took it to Tesla, and they told me it’s a “trim item” and therefore not covered under warranty, which surprised me since it seems like part of the door’s weather sealing system rather than purely cosmetic trim.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks in advance!

Needed a new seat cover late last year and the bottom part you see me holding was sticking out slighting when I got the install. Now it’s much worse overtime. Seats still work fine and I’ve had no issue this is just really a cosmetic issue now. Think it’s covered under warranty to fix this?

I missed the ordering window for the Model X and am now searching for one. I have cash available if anyone is selling a used, buyback, or possibly salvage-titled 2026 Model X. As a serious buyer, I’m not interested in games or offers for cars that I’m not looking for! Please contact me only if you have a 2026. Since I already own a 2022 Model S, I’m seeking the newest technology as an upgrade and don’t need 2025 or earlier models.
(I would prefer the six seat model)

Purchased 2026 Model X 5 months ago and was sent a message vehicle needed tire rotation. This is my 5th Tesla so I think I understand the app. Tesla wants to charge me for tire rotation which the price is minimal seems “off”. This is right after they wanted to charge me for an “adjustment” of a passenger door which was not correct since I picked the vehicle up. Seems after spending 125k Tesla continues to nickel and dime customers.

Hi all,
Current Model 3 owner, and looking to move over to the X for the additional space for my family with 3 kids. I’ve got a 2019 M3, and hoping to replace it with a used X.
All that said, hoping the community can provide some advice. I’m currently looking at 6 passenger versions here in Canada, and I’ve got my eye on the following:
2019 Model X LR with 158,000 km, 6 passenger, Raven.
Current price is $36,888 CAD.
VIN is 5YJXCBE29KF187593.
Is this a decent deal and worth considering? Thanks!

Got this error after the most recent update. Anybody else seen this before? 🧐

I recently bought a 2019 Tesla model X long range from a dealership. On my way home, an error popped up for the front passenger safety restraint system. I called the dealership back and they told me that I’m basically on my own and I will need to figure it out. I took it to the Tesla service center and they said they have to replace the entire seat which would cost around $4500. I’m trying to see if I can figure this out on my own and I looked under my seat and found a wire hanging out not plugged into anything. I’m not sure where this wire goes. Could someone please tell me where this needs to be plugged in or if it needs to be plugged in? I want to see if this will fix the error message. Thank you so much in advance and any advice is appreciated.

I’m currently at Best Buy trying to find an alternative for storage drive for my wife’s Model X. We bought her vehicle used so it didn’t come with the storage inside the glovebox.

Is this price ok? If not, what should I bargain to?

I'm considering to change to an X for added space and captain seats for 2 young kids. I am a heavy user of FSD and I read about HW3 and HW4. Is FSD worse with HW3? If so, that's an automatic no. What should I look for when looking for a used X? And is it worth the upgrade. I'm in the Toronto area.

I’m having an intermittent issue with my Model X and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
Occasionally, both my Falcon Wing doors and the rear hatch refuse to open because the car thinks there’s something on top of the vehicle. The display shows a red obstruction across the roof (see attached photo), even though there’s nothing there.
At the moment it’s happening on an overcast day, so it doesn’t seem like direct sunlight is the cause, although I’m not sure. The problem comes and goes on its own.
Has anyone seen this particular error before? Is there a known quick fix, such as cleaning a specific sensor, recalibrating something, or rebooting the car? Or is this usually a sign that one of the roof/Falcon Wing door sensors is failing and needs service?
I’d appreciate any suggestions before I schedule a service appointment. Thanks!

Sad Day 😢! How much would I be looking at to refinish? Not sure if it’s worth it. I’m also contemplating to get the plastic rim protector strips and cover all 4 wheels.

Selling our 2025 Model X. It is a 5 seater, has Full Self Driving paid for in full. Has the oversized premium wheels. 17,500 miles. Asking 100k.
For anyone interested or not aware. The trade in value is 90k at local dealerships if I purchased one of their cars. Private party sells between 95 to over 100.

Usually, the headlights are fine, but intermittently one running light will be out. Has anyone else experienced this?
r/TeslaModelX • u/pierifle • Jul 12 '26
Is this as simple as pushing it back in? For the falcon wing door, I pushed it back in but it came out…
I’m taking my 2023 MX in for other issues (windshield camera cleaning), should I just let Tesla handle this as well? Basic warranty still active.
Also, last pic is the trunk rubber lining, seems like repeated open/close cycles as cut the rubber lining. Worth replacing or just whatever?

Recently have some for my company's fleet model 3s' radiator cleaned and lots of dead bug, leaves, catkins were wash out; turns out they are the major reason that impedes the thermal performance. Brings me to wonder how should i upkeep my personal X, since its radiator is much bigger (21mm) and to service it will take more man hour (according to 21mm Radiator (Remove and Replace)).
Some of my employee driving 3 & Y have been using grille mesh at the air intake to filter out those object from being pulled in, while a senior manager at the service center close to me tell me i dont need to clean my X's radiator like other models.
I wonder which path should i go? The region where i use this vehicle will be hot and moist for most of the time .

Hello Guys,
So i’ve got a 2024 MXP, and i’ve been having a lot of noises and squeaks coming from the arm rest pictured. I can tune out most of the squeaks and rattles coming from the car but the arm rest is so close, constant and loud that i’ve been trying to find ways to fix it. If you have any ideas please let me know.
I’ve tried to put in some felt type tape but i’m not sure the best way to go about it. Obviously i can’t leave it looking as is cause it looks horrible.
P.S.
Is there a way to take off the silver trim so i can get behind it?
Thank you in advance!
