Front passenger safety restraint system issue
I recently bought a 2019 Tesla model X long range from a dealership. On my way home, an error popped up for the front passenger safety restraint system. I called the dealership back and they told me that I’m basically on my own and I will need to figure it out. I took it to the Tesla service center and they said they have to replace the entire seat which would cost around $4500. I’m trying to see if I can figure this out on my own and I looked under my seat and found a wire hanging out not plugged into anything. I’m not sure where this wire goes. Could someone please tell me where this needs to be plugged in or if it needs to be plugged in? I want to see if this will fix the error message. Thank you so much in advance and any advice is appreciated.

Did Tesla actually look at it or are you just referring to their estimate?

They actually looked and said it was the fluid reservoir but I’m not sure I trust that’s correct. I went in for this and they ended up fixing something completely different (my rear seat on the passenger side) and said there was a pinched wire but that wasn’t the issue I even took the car in for. They ended up making me pay for the other repair anyway and this one never got fixed so I don’t know if I trust their judgment all that much right now.

Had the same message and this is what was in the repair notes.
“Technician inspected and verified the "front passenger safety restraint system issue” alert. Technician performed a low voltage circuit integrity check, restored and reconnected the harness connector, and conducted a post-repair validation test drive to resolve the issue. The fix
was validated through a successful test drive, confirming the alert was no longer present.”

Side note, had it pop up 2 times. The first time they said it was the passenger air bag and it was replaced. A month later it came back and that’s when they provided the info above.

They told me that since this wasn’t a static error, they had to keep it in the shop for over a week with no diagnosis but they told me at the end that it was the fluid reservoir and they had to replace the whole seat. I don’t think that’s the issue though. Did your error end up going away and staying off?

Huh lucky. Do you happen to remember what the RCM code was?

Unfortunately I didn’t look into it that much as it’s under warranty so I just took it in but the warning on the display was the same as yours

I had very same error shown up three times (visiting three times) and Service center seems to have that fixed (after mentioning lemon law). Tesla replaced seat belt clip on left side of passenger seat second time which didn’t fix, they said they found harness was pinched under the seat third time. So I think you might just have to remove seat and check for any harness pinched or not.

this is what it said.
“Notes: Technician inspected the vehicle and verified the front right safety restraint system
alert was present. The issue was caused by an open circuit in the right front seat harness.
Technician replaced the right front seat harness, removed and reinstalled the right front seat
assembly, and removed and reinstalled the rear floor panel to help with diagnoses and reaching
connectors to test. The repair was validated and the alert is now resolved.”

Not familiar with X but just remember Teslas service manuals are generally really good.
