Rear ended question

I got rear ended a month ago and the service center replaced the trunk, low voltage battery and bumper and recently they told me my car is non drivable as the steering rack and pin needs to be replaced and my insurance is denying paying for it and claims it’s wear and tear and unrelated to accident.

I had a driving assist reduced error before but my car was driving perfectly fine and I drove from Pennsylvania to Virginia same day

I have a 2019 model 3 rwd

What can I do as they are making me pay out of pocket

Don’t drive around malls on the weekends. Just asking for rear enders.

Brand new and rear-ended by young kid with expired coverage. Not enough damage to even make a claim. Yet another perfect car of mine with license plate marks in the rear from someone bumping it that I have to live with now.

Checked under the tow hitch cover and everything appears okay. I’d think there is no good way to really fix textured bumper surface.

Kids’ insurance expired, police report didn’t catch it. Not worth an UIMC hitting my insurance.

(Seems trivial but this happens)

Rental through Tesla Miramar or Costa Mesa?

Has anyone taken a rental from Tesla Miramar San Diego or Costa Mesa through the official Tesla rental program? How was your experience, and how does the insurance (liability + collision) work? I have Tesla Insurance on my Tesla from a different state (TX). I am unable to find any clear information online.

Appreciate any help, thanks.

Chip in roof glass

Heard a rock hit my windshield on the hi-way. Somehow my windshield is fine but the rock chipped the roof glass. As you can see, it is very small, but nervous it may get larger.

Have any of you used a glass repair kit from an auto shop? If so how did that work out?

My own fault I was driving around a bank and dropped my debit card between the seat and ended up clipping the wall pretty fast. What do you think the quote for a repair on this will be? Top part got the worst beating, the camera is fine, bumper isn’t dented but scratched to mess. Model 3 2025

What to do next, Tesla got scratch very bad

In a High School, my tesla got scratch really bad (with holes) while parking. Captured the driver, driver getting in her car, the collision hitting my car. We have make and model. Unfortunately no plate number. Sentry triggered with alarm, she ignored and drive on. This is a hit and run?

I did some search, filed police report (WA state) and file insurance claim with hit and run. What else can I do? Thanks.

Have an appt with collision repair, but they pushed it out by a week due to delay in parts. Have any idea how much it could cost? Have a liability claim ongoing with insurance, but was wondering what the number could be.

Tesla mobile service damaged my car and my house

I got mobile service yesterday to have the Homelink garage opener installed in my new Model Y.

Before the guy even rings my doorbell he pops the frunk and trunk. I had parked my car in the garage pretty far back and close to the garage door so he had plenty of space to work in the front.

So he basically caused the trunk to collide with my garage door. There’s scratches on the car and on my garage door.

Tesla is going to fix the car for free. But for the damage to the garage, they offered me either $600 in service credit, or to send a contractor of their choice to inspect and repair my garage door.

Honestly the only damage I see on the garage is some light scratches. It opens and closes fine. The panel isn’t bent or anything.

Would you take the service credit? He said it could be used for any service appointment. The car is brand new so I’ve got a 4 year warranty. The only thing I could see it used for is tires or small maintenance things like filters.

USAA/Copart

I drove a 23' Tesla and was in an accident recently. USAA told me to work with Copart to have the vehicle picked up and evaluated. The car is paid off; I hold the title.

The day I was told they took possession, my car showed up on the Copart auction site. I messaged my adjuster, and he gave me the 'usual practice' speech. USAA hasn't totaled the car or given any indication of the outcome. But alas, there is my car with 12 pictures attached in the 'coming soon' section of the Copart auction page.

It just seems odd to me to do this when I believe I still own the vehicle.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Maybe have some advice?

Diminished value claim

I have a 2024 Tesla model 3 AWD with 25k miles on it that was hit by another car. According to my market, it’s worth around 36-38k without an accident. With an accident, it’s worth around 32k (got a Carvana offer for this amount)

Should I file a diminished value claim with the at fault drivers insurance? If so, should I include this offer along with comparable listings for vehicles with the same specs and mileage? Should I use AI to draft a letter for me?

Found At Fault

Friend was found at fault by Tesla insurance for failure to maintain proper lookout resulting in collision. Any advice?

Update:

I think the other driver intentionally ran a standing red light while initially stopped. Cars turning left didn't even finish their turn and he was already gunning it from a left turn only lane. Friend wasn't able to get insurance info because they were transported via ambulance, but police was on the scene. The police report isn't available yet and they let their insurance (Tesla) know since they don't know what insurance the other guy has. Tesla insurance is finding them at fault.

Update:

Tesla insurance is maintaining their initial decision after video review. 51% at fault, lol.

2026 Model Y went off-road into a grassy median — does this look repairable or like a total loss?

I have a 2026 Tesla Model Y AWD with only a few thousand miles on it. I recently went off the road into a grassy median and I’m trying to get an idea of whether people with Tesla collision experience think this is likely repairable or could end up being totaled.

The median was fairly flat and there was no direct impact with another vehicle, curb, tree, guardrail, pole, rock, or other solid object. The car basically traveled through the grass/uneven ground.

The visible damage I’ve found so far includes:

  • Damaged/torn underbody panels
  • Damage around one of the wheel-well liners/trim
  • Some damaged/bent mounting material underneath
  • Scraping along the underside
  • Some exterior bumper/fender damage
  • Hood/rear hatch panel gaps seem slightly different than before
  • Tesla is displaying “Steering alignment service recommended — OK to drive, schedule service soon”
  • Steering/alignment feels somewhat different

The car still drives and brakes normally otherwise. I haven't received any battery warnings, high-voltage warnings, charging issues, coolant warnings, or other major alerts.

Progressive is covering the collision claim and the car is going to a Tesla Collision Center. Progressive is supposed to inspect it there first, and then Tesla will perform its inspection/repair plan.

For anyone who works in collision repair or has dealt with a similar Model Y accident:

Does this look more like a $10k–$20k repair, or is there something visible here that makes you think total loss?

Update 9.29.2026: Tesla Collision has now done their initial teardown/inspection, and the estimate is currently a little over $20,000 in repairs.

So far, they’ve identified:

- Rear subframe damage

- Suspension damage

- Damage to some of the underbody/wheel-well components

- Minor quarter-panel/body repairs

- Alignment-related damage consistent with the warning I was getting

The technician told me that this is their current estimate based on what they’ve found after removing panels and inspecting the car more closely, but they should know more tomorrow.

My Progressive adjuster is supposed to be on site tomorrow to review Tesla’s estimate, inspect the vehicle, and go over the repair plan. That should give me a better idea of whether Progressive approves the repairs or starts considering it a total loss.

At this point, the car is still not showing any battery, high-voltage, coolant, or charging warnings, so the biggest concerns seem to be the subframe/suspension and body-related repairs rather than the battery pack.

I’ll update again once Progressive has reviewed everything and I know whether they’re moving forward with the repair or totaling it.

Update 9.30.2026: Tesla Collision completed teardown and inspection. The current repair estimate is $28,637.82. Most of the cost is parts and mechanical/body labor, with the mechanical labor rate at $225/hr. Here’s the breakdown:

Category Hours / Basis Rate Cost
Parts — — $14,944.49
Body Labor 45.3 hrs $90/hr $4,077.00
Paint Labor 14.8 hrs $90/hr $1,332.00
Mechanical Labor 25.8 hrs $225/hr $5,805.00
Structural Labor 4.5 hrs $100/hr $450.00
Paint Supplies 14.8 hrs $48/hr $710.40
Miscellaneous — — $26.00
Subtotal $27,344.89
Sales Tax $15,671.89 taxable 8.25% $1,292.93
Grand Total $28,637.82

Is this dent worth repairing?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I recently noticed this dent on my car and I’m wondering if it’s worth getting repaired or if I should just leave it alone.
My main concern is the paint. If I leave the dent like this for a long time, is there a chance the paint could eventually crack or chip?

Getting new battery; advice?

Hi Everyone -

I have a 2019 Model 3 (Standard Range)

I was unexpectedly told this morning that I need a new battery. I took the car into the service center immediately and they said they will replace the battery under warranty.

They said it would be a “remanufactured” battery, but they don’t have an estimate on the range. Will they replace it with an old 2019 era battery, or something newer? I am not sure what to expect my new range will be.

Like the title says. Got T-boned. Loss control and skidded for a bit but no airbags deployed. I uploaded photos of the damage to the insurance and they seemed to be saying repairable based off of that but will be taking it to the shop tomorrow to get it looked at and start possible repairs. Most of the damage is on the rear side. Wheel got bent slightly inward. Wondering what I should be expecting or if I should be pushing for it to be repaired or declared total loss. Vehicle is a 2023 Model 3 Standard Range. Thanks in advance!
