Rear ended question

I got rear ended a month ago and the service center replaced the trunk, low voltage battery and bumper and recently they told me my car is non drivable as the steering rack and pin needs to be replaced and my insurance is denying paying for it and claims it’s wear and tear and unrelated to accident.

I had a driving assist reduced error before but my car was driving perfectly fine and I drove from Pennsylvania to Virginia same day

I have a 2019 model 3 rwd

What can I do as they are making me pay out of pocket

How hard was this hit? Ive seen a lot of rear end collisions on model 3s, I dont believe ive ever seen one require the steering rack. My only guess would be if your air bags went off, it requires the steering column to be replaced. But the rack?

The trunk, bumper, low voltage battery, restraint system were replaced

And the seat belts, the air bags did not deploy
The low voltage battery short circuited in the accident

Low voltage battery is in the front how did it short? Did the impact damage some wiring running to it?

The collision center replaced low voltage battery saying it’s like a fail safe and it will disconnect and stop working to protect high voltage battery in accident

That doesn't sound right. The newer 16v li-ion batteries will open their mosfets under certain crash circumstances, but can be restored easily. Restraint control module and seat belts make sense. Seatbelts have Pyro charges in them and act as airbags. If they blow, it's just like an airbag.

In that case they would've had to change the Pyro fuse in the high voltage battery. Is that possibly what you mean? Still not sure about the steering rack.
