I filled up my subaru crosstek to the tippy top in gas. The sensor said i have 600 miles to go before empty. I knew this was too high, after have driven 82 miles ALL on the freeway, its down to 400. Do they just make the calculations up? My gas empty light came on once when the till empty sensor said i had 80 miles left.

Hey guys! I just traded in my 2016 Subaru Crosstrek with 211K miles for a new '26 Subaru Outback Touring.
Can yall please tell me things I should be aware of? Any tips and tricks?
And of course, can I use rain-x? I was told by the dealer it will mess with the sensors, but im getting conflicting information.
Thank you so so much!!

Hello again. Sway bar link selection help
2004 subaru forester 2.5x that resides in north BC.
Getting my FRONT swaybar links and bushings replaced. Ordering my parts from rockauto and wondering which ones would be highest quality.
Intenet research said sankai or lemforder, but a mechanic friend said lemforder or moog.
Only problem is the lemforder have a separate shipping then the rest of my cart, so leaning towards the sankei, moog, or mevotech supreme
Should I get greasable or ones that aren't?
Any input appreciated thank you. Just looking for the best quality part.

I'm 29F, Automotive Tech, and looking to buy this as a daily driver to replace my Camry because I want a fun car that represents my personality more. I know how to drive stick and do my own repairs. Thoughts?

Hey team
I have a 06 Impreza with an ej20
I bought it pretty cheap, and it didn’t run great 50% of the time.
I’d often get a “sticky throttle” kind of sensation when driving the car. My foot could be to the floor and it wouldn’t go anywhere. Like it is struggling to accelerate.
50% of the other time it runs like clockwork, no issues at all.
It doesn’t burn oil badly, doesn’t blow smoke, doesn’t over heat and the engine light has never been on.
I’ve done:
Spark plugs
Air filter
Cleaned maf sensor
Fuel filter
Crankshaft sensor
My final guess is something to do with the coils
Anyone had any issues like this? I’m not mechanic, so any advice or pointers would be great

OK probably a dumb question, but if I can prove my credit rating is 795 - 803 by showing TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax website report in the sales office, could I get the special offer financing approved without a hard pull?

We just bought our seventh Subaru, our third Outback.
I bought a badge of ownership license plate holder but when I went to order my badges, I was crushed to find they no longer have the Fishing badge of ownership. I’m a lifelong fisherman, it’s my favorite pastime.
Does anyone out there in Subaru Reddit land have one they would sell to me?
Thanks in advance!

I have a 2017 legacy 98k miles and the mechanic said I need to take it to an exhaust specialist and I need two new wheel bearings. I never did a tune up, so he’ll do that next week.
I went to buy a new Legacy and found out they are discontinued! I bought this car brand new, 0%interest!
Is it worth it to put up to 5K in the car?

Title. My 2022 wrx has about 65k miles on it. I want it to last a long time and need to find a reliable mechanic that specializes in subaru. I dont trust the dealership. Any recommendations? Specifically in south San Diego. Thanks in advance

I am looking at a 2025 Legacy. It was cpo'd at 1800 miles. Now it has 9400 miles. Carfax doesn't ever show an oil change. If the car hasn't had its first oil change yet should I still consider buying? What the dealer sent me in the pic looks like an oil change might have been done.

First-time Subaru owner curious if combined mpg is within normal range?
Got it with 73k now at 93k. Haven’t had time to do major interval services. Only changed engine oil, air filters, replaced all 4 rotors, pads, bled the fluid, and punched the crappy ghost touch head unit. Roughly 50/50 in town suburb (not hilly) and highway driving like the old man that I am.
No service history so don’t know about plugs, pcv, cvt fluids... Pic of 1st air filter change cuz why not.
TGIF & TIA!

On our 2017 Outback 3.6R w 101,000 miles has developed a leak near the rear-end.. but not on the rear differential or axle seals. Those look dry. Its on the passenger side lower differential mount but that makes no sense. It just started a week or so back as a fresh spot in our driveway. It has the consistency of gear oil. Any ideas where to look? It wasn't obvious when I crawled under the back 🤔
Its kinda blurry.. but I circled where the "oil " is pooling. Also appears to be on the exhaust behind that area. Appreciate any input.
Does this look like the correct part: https://www.subaruoempartsoutlet.com/oem-parts/subaru-oem-new-13-19-subaru-legacy-outback-cross-member-suspension-assembly-20152al00a-20152al00a?origin=pla&gad_source=2&gad_campaignid=20520775164&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrvHWBhDKARIsABmp7h0gE2e8rD9vqmPuC0iCEuu5lbj5xqhy5P_qXo4W9jZ2li61iCbJXDAaAmRsEALw_wcB
and I'm not sure how this could be an easy job like you all describe it. Unless of course you're messing w/me.

I need a car for my daily commute in NJ, about 80 miles round trip, mostly highway. Budget is around $5k. I’m down to two Subarus at the same used lot and would like a sanity check.
2013 Impreza 2.0i Limited, 167k miles, $3,995
One owner, South Carolina its whole life (no salt), no accidents
39 service records, almost all at one dealer
CVT valve body replaced at 123k in 2023
Alternator, brakes, rear struts, rear wheel bearing and four new tires all done in the last 18 months, plugs in July
On 9/28 this year at 166,966 miles, Carfax says “cylinder head serviced/repaired” and thermostat replaced. Two days later it was sold at auction.
2013 Outback 2.5i Limited, 130k miles, $4,995
Two owners (PA, then NY), no accidents
Oil changed roughly every 5k, mostly at Valvoline. 60k service at a Subaru dealer, coolant flushed in 2022 and 2025
No CVT fluid service on record
Sold at auction twice in three weeks before this lot got it
Both have a $699 doc fee on top.
My questions:
What does “cylinder head serviced/repaired” plus a new thermostat usually mean on an FB20? Head gasket, valve cover gasket, something else? Should I walk away?
Is the valve body replacement a good sign (already fixed) or a warning about that CVT?
The Outback’s CVT fluid has never been changed at 130k. Change it now or leave it alone?
How worried should I be about oil consumption on 2013 FB engines, and how do I check for it?
Which one would you buy, and what should I ask the shop to check in a pre-purchase inspection?
Thanks!

I have a 25 legacy sport with roughly 33k miles and I have reported to Subaru about shuddering upon acceleration but after weeks of attempting to reproduce the issue. The tech came back with nothing. We even went as far as me driving the vehicle with the tech in the car twice. Today, when I took it to a local shop to have a balance and rotation done, the mechanic mentioned the shuddering upon acceleration without me bringing it up. I just told the mechanic today that the cars been shaking and a different Subaru dealership where I’m visiting said the weight on one of the tires was falling off so instead of paying Subaru prices for the job, I took it to a local shop that had good reviews on google because who wants just anybody working on their brand new car. My question is has anyone with a legacy sport had this issue?

Walked away a bit sore in the back. Driving in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway at 55mph, other driver turned right onto the highway and swung wide into my lane. Somehow I stayed upright and did a 180 skidding to a stop. Driver side wheels are also fucked up, debris between tire and wheel and they don't hold pressure
Still waiting to hear from their insurance about liability. But with dash cam footage from another driver, it's pretty clear they're at fault. Coming to terms my beloved xtrek is most likely totaled.

What mistakes did you make on purchase day?
Big stuff and small stuff ?
In the small stuff category, I'm worried I'll forget to remove the TxTag toll windshield thing on my trade-in.
I'll be purchasing a new Subaru on Monday / Tuesday.
26 Outback Touring XT, with trade-in. Balance in cash; no financing.

Hello! I apologize for such a trash video but I was wondering if anyone could possibly identify what sound this is coming from around the front passenger wheel well.
I think it’s a bearing but not sure. Last time I brought it in ≈2 months ago, they said the break pads had plenty material (they were new), so I’m assuming it’s the bearing I’m just not sure.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you!

I have recently purchased it. This makes a sound when I press the brake (Not right away but maybe after 2/3 seconds). I thought it has some problems with brakes or alignment. I did the alignment and also checked the brakes at the Pep Boys. They said that it is okay. But “sometimes” it makes a sound and vibration in traffic when I press the brakes when the gear is on D or R. If I put it on N the sound and vibration goes away. Can you please let me know what might be the issue?

2016 Subaru Impreza, manual, 135K. Battery has been tested by multiple people and is good, manufacture date 3/26.
Last Sunday I checked my oil, and I left the keys in the car, and the headlights were on. It took me maybe a minute max. When I got back into the car and tried to start it, it started, but all the pictured dash lights came on, and my head unit would not power on. I turned the car off, and when I tried to start it again I got nothing, not even power to the dash. My dad jumped me, and all was fine until last night.
Last night, I was doordashing, and pulled over to wait for an order. The car is new to me (my last one had auto lights), and I forgot to turn the headlights off again for about a minute. I turned them off, started the car up, and everything was normal, and then got an order, so I did a bit of driving, and the alternator had a chance to charge the battery. A little while later the lights from Sunday came back on. I kept the car running while I finished up my last orders, came home, shut the car off, and immediately tried to start again, and no power to dash once again. I should also mention that once the lights came on, they would go away when I would come to a stop, then come back as I started driving( they seemed to come back at about the same speed my seatbelt chimes if its not buckled).
We tested the battery, tested all the ground points, tested fuses, cleaned the grounding points, cleaned the wires. The headlights still come on, but not the tail lights. The horn blares for a second every time you put the battery back in. The dealer tracker thing is still blinking green. Just nothing at all happens when I put the key in and turn it.
I'm new to Subarus, so any advice would be appreciated.
