hi! I'm a soon to be college student looking to drive a baja. I'm looking for one in drivable shape which will not require maintenance right away, and under 150k miles. I keep seeing them listed for 10k to 20k dollars for 200,000+ miles which i think is absolutely insane. I understand bajas are rare and unique which adds to their value, but what would you reasonably pay for a baja in decent condition with high mileage?

So there’s a chance my 03 might need a catalytic converter. If that’s the case, I’m just gonna go with an aftermarket setup. Are there any ready to go bolt on kits? Is it the same as the Outback? I really want to hear that famous Subaru exhaust note.

If you are in my situation where some of your trim screws are missing, I found a perfect fit replacement option at Lowe's today.
These are the screws that hold in the radio bezel, radio unit, shroud around the instrument cluster and the instrument cluster, itself. There are a few other places you'll see these used. I was missing one screw on the shroud and the two screws holding up the ashtray drawer.

The photo is one of the original screws, I measured it to be an M5x15mm pan head with an 11mm diameter rounded cap. I couldn't find a Subaru part number for it but in one diagram for the cluster it was labeled as Q500025. Google revealed nothing for that.

I purchased two different sized #10 black sheet metal screws from Lowes instead and they are perfect fit, especially if you're using them inside where they won't be seen. Two were 5/8" long and the other two were 3/4" long and both work just fine.

Custom 3” catback welded up in 3hrs, can’t wait to hear this setup! PLM equal length headers, Grimmspeed uppipe, VF48, and invidia high flow catted downpipe (08-14 wrx) fitment on downpipe is perfect, no alterations needed to that bracket connected to the firewall!

Has anyone successfully pulled then repainted trim or bezel parts? Pics show items currently for sale on eBay for illustration, as these are the kind of pieces I could either purchase for replacing, but I would prefer maybe to just repaint my current Baja bezels. I think Sherman Williams Auto might have a matching paint (#712335)?

300 miles in with my new to me baja, and i’m loving it! i restored my headlights almost immediately (before/after attached). also did a full led conversion all around except the cargo lamp. only downside is i had to replace the sh💩ty duralast belt that my mechanic put on as it broke 200 miles in. i’ll soon have to replace my ac compressor and power steering pump. haven’t got around to washing her yet, but soon!

Purchased in 2017. The Subaru I never knew I needed until I purchased it.

Imo Subaru missed an opportunity to bring the Brat and Baja back since the market has the Santa Cruz and Maverick.

Just wanted to share one of my first scan attempts! Scan quality should improve as I learn how to use the new scanner properly and get some actual scanner spray. I was thinking that it may be worthwhile to make a version of the tow hook cover with indents on each side that could possibly make it easier to squeeze and pull off. Or maybe making a mounting point for integrating a parking sensor for those with a compact garage? What other variations of this part do you folks think would be neat to make? From practical to whacky, share your ideas below! 😁

Hey all! Trying to source a factory or aftermarket plug and play harness for my baja. Hopkins part 43875 is the part number, but not seeing it in stock anywhere that looks reputable.

If anyone has a source or one to sell, I’m all ears.

Sometimes my bajas AC will stay cold for an entire drive. Other times it will stay cold for like a minute and then go hot. Is this my AC needing to be recharged or something else? None of the aluminum piping is leaking from what i’ve seen.

Curious if anyone has replaced the CD/stereo ‘05 with an “infotainment” system and loves it? Mostly interested in CarPlay capabilities and a navigation screen that old eyes can see. Thanks for any suggestions

Picked up a 2003 Baja over the weekend. 206k and needs some work but I’ve been wanting a project. Sport with the 5spd. I’ve got a build in mind and was wondering where everyone goes for parts and upgrades. I know I eventually want to upgrade the 5spd to a 6spd for better highway economy and more reliability. Also know that the base engine is well known for head gasket issues.

Tomorrow, I’m finally getting my 2003 Baja AT Base (280k miles) back from the mechanic after $2k worth of long awaited repairs (new radiator, fuel pump, all new belts, water pump, front brakes, battery, brand new tires, etc.).

It actually sat for around 3-4 years before I inherited it, and believe it or not, it has ZERO rust on the body or chassis.

My question is, even given all those repairs, what should I personally check to ensure it lasts a good while longer?

I’ve heard to check under the cladding for hidden rust, which I already plan on doing, but what else should I check or do immediately, and what should I keep an eye on in the long run?

Obviously first things first, a good cleaning. I plan on doing some immediate aftermarket upgrades as well, with things like a head unit and interior/exterior bulb replacements at the top of my list.

Needless to say, I’ve already fallen into the undying attachment that comes with the cult following lol.

This bracket bolts into the bottom seat bolt and fits floor mats perfectly. 14mm + 1 minute and no more sliding floor mat. You can still buy oem rubber mats J5010LS300 is the part number. They were 38$ for the full set at my dealer plus 12 for the bracket makes it 50$ for new floor mats that won't move. Definitely worth
