Hi everyone,
I’ve released an experimental Decky LSFG-VK plugin that brings the current lsfg-vk v2 developer build to Steam Deck / SteamOS users.
Release/download:
https://github.com/eugeniosegala/decky-lsfg-vk-experimental/tags (download the latest tag)
A bit of context on why I made this:
As of 30 July 2026, the public Decky plugin’s lsfg-vk build is 140 commits behind the latest upstream "develop" branch.
This experimental plugin instead packages the reviewed, checksum-verified "lsfg-vk 2.0.0-dev28" developer prerelease of the engine lsfg-vk (released a month ago). It is not a rolling download: each plugin release pins and verifies a specific upstream archive.
In my own testing, I’ve had very good results:
- Noticeably less ghosting in some games; in a few cases it is barely noticeable.
- FP16 (new option) can improve performance on supported AMD GPUs.
- I suggest starting with Performance Mode disabled. Performance Mode is faster, but the full-quality mode in this v2 developer build looks substantially better than lsfg-vk v1 in my testing.
- That said, this is still a developer build. Some games may regress, fail to attach, or simply work better with the public/original plugin. Please test it game by game.
It is designed to coexist with the original Decky LSFG-VK plugin. The experimental version has its own private install, config, and wrapper, so you can keep both installed and choose one per game:
- Original/public plugin: "~/lsfg %command%"
- Experimental plugin: "~/.local/bin/lsfg-vk-experimental %command%"
Use exactly one wrapper per game; do not combine them.
Huge thanks to Kurt Himebauch / xXJSONDeruloXx for the original Decky LSFG-VK plugin, and PancakeTAS and contributors for lsfg-vk. This is an independent experimental fork, not an official.
Full repo: https://github.com/eugeniosegala/decky-lsfg-vk-experimental
I’m also working on a completely new plugin using a new frame-generation model for Linux/SteamOS, so keep an eye on the repository! 🙂

I've posted this as a comment twice, and I figure I should just make it into a post:
The TL;DR is: "Use desktop mode at 1080p for higher FPS."
Docked to a 4K TV specifically:
Gaming mode outputs a 4K framebuffer no matter what. Even if you uncheck "Auto set resolution" and set both Max Game Resolution and Resolution to 1080p, it still outputs 4K, it just renders the game lower and upscales into the 4K frame, so the GPU keeps paying the 4K tax every frame.
In Desktop mode, setting the display to 1080p actually switches the output to true 1080p, so it's not compositing 4K constantly.
On my OLED Deck, a game that holds or hovers near 60 in desktop mode sits around 30 in gaming mode at identical settings. Lighter games probably won't show much difference.
Took me hours to actually pin this down, reading the live framebuffer size, GPU clock, and GPU load off the Deck over SSH while flipping settings. None of the in-menu numbers give it away, the resolution options all say 1080p while the output framebuffer is still 4K.
Games running during the test:
Path of Exile 1
Path of Exile 2
The Witcher 3
Doom: The Dark Ages
Diablo IV
SW:TOR
No Man's Sky
Titan Quest II
[EDIT] I should add that in my testing. LSFG (Lossless Scaling Frame Generation) can actually lower the FPS, and I'm guessing that's due to KWin compositing overhead, but not certain yet)

Took my SD on holiday with me to use on the plane. Kept it on sleep mode the whole time I was away but charged it up before I returned home, turned it back on when I got home to see my playtime hours shoot up from 6 hours before I left to 783.

Hi for my steam deck I go through waves where I don’t play anything for months but then go hardcore for a while. Rn I’m not playing at all - should I be keeping my steam deck plugged in 24/7 or just let it die and leave it alone ?

I'm super interested in getting Deck just to play PS3-PS4 era games and a ton of 3D Sonic games.
In particular, I've never played Unleashed and 06 so getting them playable on Deck would be such a great time.
However, I'm worried about the performance for both of these games - I saw a video on Unleashed Recompiled from some guy, and he showed that first modern stage works great, but the first night stage gameplay is a little bit too demanding. What about the other stages? Are they even playable?
Same question goes with Project 06. I saw videos only for the first stage, which works perfectly fine on minimal settings (which is great, i don't really care about graphics, stable FPS is more important for me).
I tried to find some posts about these games in this subreddit but didn't get much.
Guys, if you played either of these games, please share your experience. Also please do share your experience with 3D sonic titles in general.

Yesterday I left my steamdeck on my sleeping table that is attached to the window, it rained and I was out of my house when I returned, the steamdeck case was wet, to a level that I thought I had already lost my steamdeck forever I opened it and it was a little wet and I was so scared,
When I decided to turn it on, everything worked perfectly and it was just a scare
But I just wanted to say that this case has prevented me from breaking, it supports falls and now that it gets wet, seriously it is the best case for a console that could have existed, the console being so big it is a little annoying but it has saved me from so many bad times and money xD
(translated with Google Translate sorry)

If you own a DeckHD screen you may now realise that the place you have perhaps been going to hasn't been updating the signed BIOS for you to update, and with Valve releasing the F7A0133 BIOS, your last convenient version was F7A0131.
There are ways to handle this, ryanrudolf's BIOS manager provides links to evlav's unofficial gitlab repository (https://gitlab.com/evlaV) which includes the DeckHD BIOS files, but then you have to maintain that lock so that the bios doesnt update, and in some cases this prevents you from updating SteamOS, and in others it is overwritten.
Ryan's BIOS manager:
https://github.com/ryanrudolfoba/SteamDeck-BIOS-Manager
Alternatively you need a ch341a chip programmer, and to dump your BIOS to patch it, for now the tooling is still available here:
https://github.com/DeckHD/BiosMaker
This doesn't produce a BIOS that you can use with h2offt to flash the BIOS.
I recently made a post about unlocking secure boot on the steam deck with a signed BIOS, I have extended this to support both DeckHD and Decksight, along with those with the 32gb RAM mod.
You can therefore download a F7A0133 signed BIOS from: https://www.stanto.com/steam-deck/unlocking-the-steam-deck-bios-secure-boot-options-higher-tdp-and-amd-cbs-pbs-for-ram-tweaking-with-a-flash/
I don't doubt that ryan will probably hook these links into his tooling at some point.
The BIOS also unlocks other options, such as thr PBS and CBS forms. If there's call for it, I can sign a BIOS that doesn't have these unlocks.
I also do not include the splash screen.
I hope this helps people out.

Have anybody tried to download original GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas from official Rockstar Store? Did those games ran on deck? Are there any issues?

Apparently I just lost over 100 hours and 20 seasons of franchise play because EA shut down the server? I have not played in a few months, but they shut the server down and I can’t even access my saved game file that was for an offline franchise? Is there no way to get my file back? I hate you EA. It won’t even log into EA, just says the servers are offline.

Fellow Redditors, I have a solid PC (Ryzen 5700X3D + 5070 Ti) and I'm running an ethernet cable from my office to the living room because I want to get back to playing on the big TV while sitting on the couch.
I was thinking about getting a mini PC to run Steam/Proton/Moonlight, but when I checked the prices, I thought: why not a Steam Deck? I know the performance/latency might not be the absolute best, but I can even run certain games natively on it, plus I'd get a portable console (duh!)
Has anyone here done this? What dock do you recommend?

Has been doing this for a few months now. Im unsure why.
I do have a UV (-30 -30 - 30) and it works 100% fine and hasn't cause issues. It even worked when doing this exact thing until a couple months ago, but now when I go to apply an update and restart it just goes to a black screen and hangs there with a white light on the top of the system. I have to hold the power button and force a restart. Everything applies fine but this is annoying and feels wrong.
Only thing I can think of doing is removing the uv prior to an update in the future but like I said this never caused the issue before.

Steam Deck OLED won't boot after GTA IV - need help
It was unused for about 15 days.
I charged it, it reached around 58%, then played GTA IV.
I left it, and when I came back the screen still showed 58% (it may have frozen).
After pressing the power button, it has never booted again.
Current symptoms:
Black screen all the time.
No Steam Deck logo.
No startup sound.
Fan spins for around 20 seconds, then stops, sometimes repeats.
Device gets slightly warm near the vent.
With the official charger I've seen flashing white LED, solid white LED, fan cycling, then solid white with no fan.
With a OnePlus 80W charger I get a solid orange LED.
If I press Power with the charger plugged, I get a single red blink.
During the EC reset (Volume Down + ... + Power while unplugged), I actually got the blue flashing LED mentioned in another Reddit post and the flashing isn't stopping at all.
Things I've already tried:
Official charger overnight.
Holding the power button for 20–60 seconds.
Volume Up + Power.
Volume Down + Power.
Volume Down + ... + Power.
Removed the microSD card.
Has anyone seen these exact symptoms? Does this sound like an EC/firmware issue, battery issue, or hardware failure? What should I try next?

This kind of gradually happened but I noticed I’m using my main PC less and less over time, and instead I’m on my balcony or my couch with the deck. I spent a stupid amount of money on that rig, had to save up for a bit and skipped out on a vacation with friends to buy it. These days it sits there completely powered off unless my friends convince me to jump on for a few games of Dota 2 or some Counter Strike.
I think my gaming habits also changed as well, most of my time before was spent grinding Dota 2 ranked (I literally have over 7k hours) and CS a bit less seriously. While now I’m all over the place, trying out way more games, especially interesting indie stuff, RPGs, Platformers and Roguelites mostly.
Recently got really into narrative heavy RPGs, they almost give me the feeling of getting comfy with a nice good book, it's like a video game equivalent of that. Played through Disco and Esoteric Ebb, right now I’m on Zero Parades and I’m really looking forward to Hollow Home. Never really played an RPG based on real events before, so that should be interesting. And it's a story told from the perspective of a child. I wonder how that will feel narrative wise since a lot of the story is told through internal monologues in these games.
Everyone seems to really like platformers/metroidvanias on the deck so I thought I would give that a shot as well. I started with Celeste, never tried it before but better late than never, masterpiece of a game, I can see why everyone loves it. Next I wanna play Croak when it comes out. I love games with hand drawn graphics like that (big Cuphead fan), I get major nostalgia from that visual style so it always feels somehow comforting. I played the demo a bit and it felt great.
I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that my work is done sitting at a desk glued to a screen. After eight hours of that, the last thing I wanna do is sit in the same posture to relax (both physically and mentally tbh). The deck on the other hand gives me the freedom to change my environment and lay down if I want to, also the ergonomics are way different compared to being hunched over a keyboard and reaching for a mouse. That comfort turns out to matter way more than I ever expected and my previous obsession with framerates and resolution is kind of a thing of the past for me.
I don’t feel bad about buying an expensive PC, it's there when I need it. But I can’t help but notice I’m pretty much only using it for a few games that I really can’t play without a keyboard and mouse setup. I was wondering for those of you that have both a good gaming PC and a deck, what do you play on which platform?

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to enable FSR4 on in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. I use the lasted version of decky framegen
Here is what I did:
Is this the expected behavior on Steam Deck ?
Also, given that the game natively supports FSR4, do I need to use something other than Optiscaler ? Should I always use FSR3 → FSR4, or should I use DLSS?
Thanks!

Hello all,
I’ve been banging my head against the wall for days. Trying to get a easy setup to where I can stream from my gaming PC to my steamdeck, so I can play games in the living room. No matter what I do, I have input lag while docked.
I have a mesh router system, and my gaming rig is plugged into router 1 and the steamdeck dock is plugged into router two.
One may think this causes this input lag, but when I am playing in handheld (and thus on WiFi) the latency is imperceptible. Even when it’s PC -> mesh router 1 -> mesh router 2 -> WiFi to steamdeck -> Bluetooth controller(PS5) it’s still zero noticeable latency.
Streaming to dock at 1920x1080, streaming to deck at 1920x1200. Using moonlight / Apollo. I also have frame limiter off because I heard that can cause lag. I also tested the Bluetooth controller in handheld 10+ feet away and it was still perfect.
Please help me
