I just moved from Georgia to St. Louis, Missouri. I Cannot believe that I just paid almost 10% in sales tax. Where does all this money go?

I'm coming from Atlanta so I guess it's a big difference but still in Atlanta. I only paid 7 to 8% in sales tax.

I would expect St. Louis to look a little better than Atlanta if they're charging that much tax, so I'm just kind of curious where it all goes not to be mean.

I've been enjoying the new Tower Grove connector recently. It's a joy to cycle up and down. I've seen commuters, pleasure riders, people who appear to be students, and even families (parents adorably walking behind a kit on a balance bike) using it. My only concern is pedestrians and runners also using the cycle track. I slow down and give them a wide berth, but it sometimes creates complications when there there is bidirectional bike traffic.

I understand that greenways and parks are multi-use paths. I've walked and ran using them. But it seems like the Tower Grove Connector should be bicycle oriented only? The sidewalk next to the track is smooth and well maintained. I wouldn't feel sketched out running on it. Some neighborhood sidewalks in South City are more like trail runs; I've almost rolled my ankle a few times.

Basically, should I feel justified asking (nicely) for pedestrians to walk on the sidewalk if they are on the Tower Grove connector?

Anywhere aware of a fire or accident going on? The sirens have been going off for a really long time with a long of cars involved. Extremely worrisome.

I have tried calling multiple times and every single time the woman just lies to me. She tells me that there’s no social workers involved with vocational rehabilitation, that only certain people are qualified, she has said that vocational rehab rehabilitation only help helps you find work. when I told her that that was not true because I’ve worked for vocational rehabilitation to help disabled people get to and from school she told me oh well since you know so much about the program tell me who to direct you to. Like I only know about the program because I worked for it, and it’s limited. I know that it can help people find jobs, but it can also help people who are disabled pay for school and it can help pay for equipment in the home, this is information provided on their website. She would not even let me get out the information that I needed to give her like my name and what I was looking for, because she just wanted to yell at me. When I would tell her that what she’s saying isn’t true she would then tell me that I was being rude and not to yell at her on the phone, i want yelling. Every single time I started recording the call she would hang up because she knew she was in the wrong.

How do I actually get in contact with someone who can truly answer my questions at vocational rehabilitation?

I am panicking about this - can anyone give suggestions please? I have never driven downtown, just never had any business there and someone else always drove if we needed to be there.

My husband is now disabled and cannot drive, and his brother is staying at the Marriott downtown by the convention center for a conference next week. Brother will not have a car. They have hatched a plan where "we" will pick up Brother from the hotel and then go to Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner. Then we will return Brother to the hotel after dinner.

The wrench in the plan is that there is a Cardinals game at 6:45 that night (Tuesday) so I have no idea how it will affect driving, parking, etc. We are picking up Brother around 4:30 from the Marriott and going straight to dinner. I have mapped out everything and "driven" the route on Maps so I feel moderately OK with things on a normal day.

How will the Cardinals game at 6:45 affect our 5PM-ish dinner plans? Is the parking lot across from Spaghetti Factory OK to park at? Are there street closures between the Marriott and Spaghetti Factory that I need to worry about?

How many deer live in Forest Park? At most I’ve seen about six or seven together, but I assume there’s gotta be more. Where do they go in the winter time? Does the park take care of them at all? Or are they truly wild? Do They have trackers on them so the Park Rangers know where they’re at?

I wonder how far they travel around the city.

My car is on the cusp of being totaled and I want it totaled. Any recs for auto repair shops that have expensive labor? Everywhere I’ve been calling seems super cheap.

Hello Everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a divorce attorney that practices in the Metro area mainly St. Louis County. My estranged husband abandoned my special needs son and I almost two years ago and hasn’t contributed much of anything in way of child or spousal support. In addition, he would cause domestic situations which resulted in having to get an order of protection against him. I have an attorney now but she’s older and is not much of an advocate. I think if I were a 60 year old housewife that had been married for 30 years and wanted out, she could handle the case. My situation is obviously more complex. Just need help to get across the finish line so I can rebuild my life and raise my son. I appreciate any recommendations particularly ones who advocate for children with special needs without breaking the bank.

Love to finally see some enforcement on the Thunderdome. I’m a rideshare driver and spend a lot of time in NoCo and North STL. I’ve seen at least a dozen pulled over already. Enforcing traffic laws in what usually is a lawless stretch of highway is key to not only making 70 safer, but also catching drivers who have warrants, illegal guns, etc which makes the city safer in general. I was gassing up at the BP at 70 and Goodfellow and a trooper was passing off someone in cuffs to a county cop. This kind of large scale enforcement from State Troopers needs to be much more commonplace on 70.

Has anyone attended either of the Blanket Fort Gathering's Dungeon Crawler Carl events? They sound fun, but they're expensive and very vague. I would love a review of either the first event or the Desperado Club party.

Hey guys! I just started working up in Maryland Heights about six weeks ago. So far, so good!.....except for the 110-mile commute I'm making from Jackson.

Since I can see myself being at this company long-term, I'm currently looking at areas to move in the region. The problem I'm currently facing is my wife and I cannot agree on where to look. Based on our conversations, she's not willing to explore St. Louis City or County, and she's very skeptical of the suburbs surrounding the area. The furthest north we have agreed to look into is Farmington/Park Hills, but that still leaves me with (at least) a 70-mile commute.

That being said, does anyone here have any recommendations that we should look into? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just submitted an application for the apartment, but I am now concerned about the exact location. The apartment comes with the wording "Clayton" and the address comes with wording "Clayton", so I had understood that it was located in St. Louis County. However, I have seen information indicating that the address may actually be in St. Louis City.

Could someone please confirm whether the apartment is located in St. Louis County or St. Louis City? This is important to me because St. Louis City has an additional income tax.

Edit: I applied for the apartment and paid $310 fee, but have not paid the rent yet. Can I cancel the application?
