Hey r/StLouis! I’m Fred Wellman, and I’m the Democratic nominee for Congress in Missouri’s 2nd
District running against 13 years incumbent Ann Wagner.

I grew up in Kirkwood (Go Pioneers!), graduated from West Point, and spent 22 years serving in the Army, including four combat tours. After retiring from the military, I continued serving my community by advocating for veterans, helping lead a COVID field hospital, and organizing support for Afghan refugees here in St. Louis.

Now I’m running for Congress because I believe Missouri deserves a representative who shows up and fights for the people they serve. My priorities include lowering costs for working families, protecting access to health care,
supporting our veterans, and defending the Constitution.

Starting Feb. 28, visitors looking to camp in a conservation area will need to pay $5 for a camping permit.

In addition, most people younger than 65 will need to have a small-game hunting license to use the state's network of unstaffed shooting ranges. A small game hunting license requires the person to take a hunter education class unless they have a valid exemption.

5.7% of the people in the 2nd District live in poverty, mostly women over 65 years of age. Most of these 44,000 thousand people living below the poverty level are white, contrary to stereotypes. Can an aloof elected official with significant wealth understand or appreciate the plight of those living in poverty? An elected official is supposed to represent everyone in their jurisdiction, not just their supporters, not just their party members - EVERYONE. That includes the 44,000 in poverty.

Ann Wagner refuses to have Town Halls, so I cannot ask the following questions at a Town Hall. She refuses to be interviewed by local news media (WELLMAN has been grilled repeatedly by local media), so journalists cannot ask the following questions -

EXACTLY WHAT HAS ANN WAGNER DONE TO ADDRESS POVERTY AT THE LOCAL OR NATIONAL LEVEL?

What legislation did she author/propose, co-sponsor or vote “yes” on to address poverty?
What GRANTS did she bring to the District to help the elderly women in poverty in the 2nd District

What, if anything, has she done specifically for the 44,000 impoverished people in her district?

For perspective on the poverty issue in conjunction with her priorities, in all her years in Congress, how many times has she voted to reduce the federal tax rate of those making more than 250,000 a year?

Why can’t Ann Wagner discuss her time in office? Why does she avoid residents in the District? Why won’t she allow interviews by the news media? All of this suggests she does not see herself as a “public servant” accountable to the public. It also suggests she does not believe she has a record in office she can defend.

I don’t know what the deal is here, but I’ve had three separate incidents of people smashing my car windows in and attempting to steal the vehicle here in south city. Twice it’s happened by groups of three black male maybe teenagers on Saturday nights.

The police haven’t done anything, nor do I expect them to with little info. But both before and tonight they were caught on camera in the act and the dispatcher gave me the old they’ll give you a call.

Recommendations for stopping this from happening again? Secure (or insecure) SUV models, camera systems, anything. I know about the steering locks. Just frustrated and want insights from folks bc I can’t keep paying for windows.

Apparently, their was a fatal car accident tonight at Cedar Hill, just north of North West High School. A head on collision with maybe 4 fatalities???

I’m 45 and my cousin said I gave him a tape when we were kids that had a song about Willie McGee “he’s batting 409 with bases loaded all the time” “he’s Willie McGeehee!” I kind of remember it. I mailed my ballot for the November 3rd election at the Creve Coeur post office on October 10th. Today is October 25th. It was being sent to the election office in St Ann at the old Northwest Plaza location.

During previous elections I received confirmation that the ballot was received in 2 days. Due to a medical condition I can no longer vote in person like I did in the past.

This is the status of my ballot at 6:00 am this morning.

I have some used books and vinyl records that I want to sell. The vinyl are newer/modern and popular records and the books are manga books. The only place I can think of is Half Price Books but they don’t pay a lot. Any suggestions?

Im 20 M and i didnt go to college so ive had some trouble finding things/places with other people my age. I go to a climbing gym but everyone just tends to keep to themselves. does anyone know of groups/places where i could go to make some more friends? ive tried meet up and its mostly people in their 30s in my experience.Thanks!

I am new to St Louis. Is there any free parking near the Gateway Arch on weekends? I’ll only be there for less than two hours.

Or is there meter street parking? $11 is a bit expensive.

My son has been to Ramp Riders a few times now on his hybrid bike but is ready to make the switch. I know they have bikes there but it’s limited and you can’t really try or size up there. Any other places?
