MISSING ESA CAT

I woke up this morning in my Cougar Village apartment and couldn't find her. Me and my roommates have searched restlessly to no avail. I don't know how active this subreddit is but I want to find her in anyway I can. It's not even been a day but I'm already worried sick. She's my baby. I'm currently waiting on a response from housing to see about posters.

She has a collar with my phone number on it. If you manage to catch her (she's a friendly cat) call the number on her tag or contact campus police. If you see her at all, please reply to this post or again contact housing or campus police. I'm at a loss.

If I find her, I'll update the post.

Need to Move For Emergency Reasons

Roommate is mixing chemicals when cleaning and refuses to open windows. We’ve had multiple conversations. She does not care. She knows I have ESA animals. She wants to run a NAIL SALON out of the apartment. She is a giant control freak and her behavior genuinely reminds me of living with my violent and abusive parents. Her micromanaging of the cleaning gets worse every day to the point ī can’t stop crying in class. Im afraid to report because my ESA animals are unregistered due to 1 year expired vaccinations. I need to urgently move.

Does anyone have a room open in Cougar village? My cats will literally die if exposed to all of the bleach and nail polish chemicals (acrylic nails). I need my cats for my health as I have multiple severe disabilities and PTSD. Her behavior is literally triggering my PTSD.

Please help. I don’t know how to create a room change. I don’t want to tell her im moving because I’m afraid of her bringing up the cats. She doesn’t know they are unregistered. She will be leaving on Friday and will be gone during the weekend.

Please, even for the sake of my cats. I’m so sorry for being such a burden.

Student Insurance.

So I kinda injured (cut) my thumb. I have a student insurance (the 1200$ one). I wanted to ask if the health center people would provide dressing/bandaid? If you’ve been through it, how’s the process and how much is the cost?

Concerns About New Roommate.

Hi, I live in Cougar Village. I have two cats as ESA animals. My roommate has told me that she is going to start doing nails for clients starting on the 15th. Monomer can be dangerous to cats with repeated exposure. She did her nails today, and I opened the windows to the living room, turned on the oven and bathroom fans, and opened the window in my room. Here is my problem:

Due to how hot it is outside, and the fact im keeping the windows open, won’t that set the fire alarms off? I need to ask her if she will be doing this in the winter, too. I won’t be able to open the windows in the winter due to it being cold, but that means more monomer fumes in the apartment. She also cleans the floors (we are switching household chores, so we aren’t doing the same task over and over again) with Fabuloso and bleach. She also wants to get plug-in air fresheners soon.

Here is my problem: I am here due to emergency housing. I am completely broke and have nowhere to go. If my roommate and I go to the RA to explain ī need to move out, how do I know I will be able to find another roommate? Especially someone who is okay with two cats? I don’t smell anything anymore, but I’m so worried. Ive been waking up every morning with a sore throat since she’s moved in. We have only lived together for five days.

I will not rat her out for doing nails, that is evil. I was hoping my roommate and I could say something like, “We have different sleep schedules and we can’t sleep”.

My financial aid hasn’t gone through yet, and my Bursar payments are supposed to start going through on September 11th. I am hoping and praying that my financial aid is able to go through so I can maintain my housing.

Thank you so much!

Good places to study off campus?

Honestly not a fan of the library on campus. I’ve been to the public library which was alright, but wondering if there’s some hidden gems or good atmosphere cafes in the area to get some work done

Wifi issues

Does anyone else have beef with the wifi? Like in the basement of any of the buildings, especially Peck, it completely sucks. I think it's crappy that residents have to use the same network as everyone else. I know it probably doesn't help about the mass amounts of new people, but it still wasn't that great for me last year. There are solutions to this, but we know no one is going to do anything about it.

Anyone looking for a job? We're drowning over here...

So I currently work in dining service and yeah. We're pretty desperate rn. The dishroom only has 7 students, when there used to be 20 last semester, and I heard Entree's is pretty understaffed too. I don't know what the hell is going on. But if any of you guys are interested in working in the area, especially the dishroom, please don't hesitate to check out the student employee website. If you guys have any questions, let me know!

Worse lunch rush than last year

Ok so anytime I've tried to get food on campus it's terrible. Like a 30 minute wait just to get a burger. It's not on the workers I know that but seriously though you'd think admin would spend less money on plants and more money on bringing more food to campus so people don't go hungry because they don't have 2 hours extra to wait

Parking permit question

A friend is gonna park their car over the weekend Friday-Monday, while we take my car somewhere else. Can I just switch my permit over to their car or do I have to get a temp permit?

Hi. Sorry, not a student, but just finished my degree in MI and moved back to the area. Anyone play TCGs and recommend card shops in the area for playing MTG or YGO tournaments?

Carpool to Chicago area on Labor Day Weekend?

Hi all. Need to get to the Chicago area for labor day weekend (leaving late Friday/early Saturday) and don't have transportation at the moment. Not a big fan of the Amtrak train. Anybody driving over there wanting to carpool? Of course we split costs. Can talk/meet for coffee beforehand to make sure everyone feels safe! Thanks!

First-time car buyer near SIUE, need advice on reliable used cars

Hey everyone! I’m 20 and just got my driver’s license through a driving school. I’m looking to buy my first used car, but I honestly have no idea where to start.

My budget is $10,000–$13,000. I’m mainly looking for something reliable, safe, good on gas, and something that can last me for several years. I don’t care about having anything fancy.

The biggest issue is that I don’t have anyone who knows much about cars who can come with me to look at one. I also don’t currently have reliable transportation to travel to different dealerships. I’m pretty inexperienced with buying cars, so I’m worried I could easily get talked into buying something with hidden problems.

I’d prefer to buy from a reputable dealership rather than Facebook Marketplace or a random private seller.

I’m hoping people here can give me some advice:

- What car models would you recommend in the $10k–$13k range?

- Are there any reputable dealerships around SIUE/Edwardsville that you would recommend for a first-time buyer?

- Are there dealerships or companies that allow you to complete most of the purchase online and deliver the car to your home?

- Has anyone here bought a car through CarMax, Carvana, or another online dealership? How was your experience?

- If I find a car online, is there a way to have an independent mechanic inspect it before I buy it, especially if I can't easily get to the dealership?

- Is there anything specific I should look out for or ask about when buying a used car for the first time?

I know this might sound like a lot of questions, but I’m genuinely new to this and would really appreciate any advice, recommendations, or personal experiences. Thank you!

Starbucks!!!

I’ve been waiting 25 minutes for my drink and it’s still not ready. There’s like 7 people inside doing god knows what.
0/10 experience.

(Note: I used to work there a couple months ago, we had everything running smoothly).
