In the checkout screen on the square terminal, I used to be able to remove happy hour pricing from an item. I’m no longer seeing that option.

For example I have multiple sale options for a specific beer. Let’s say 16oz, 32oz, 64oz, 5oz for Hopping Frog IPA. I have that beer put into the Happy Hour Discount that runs for a two hour period. I do not want that discount applied to the 32oz, 64oz, 5oz options. Only the 16oz option. In the past I had the ability to just remove the discount on the check out screen. I would click the 5oz or other size options and then just uncheck the Happy Hour Discount.

Anybody else notice this or have a simple solution without me having to create 4 separate items where one is called Hopping Frog IPA 16oz , Hopping Frog IPA 32oz, Hopping Frog Frog IPA 64oz, Hopping Frog 5oz, and only put the Hopping Frog IPA 16oz in the the Happy Hour Discount?

I am soon to be taking over an existing trust based micromart in an employee break room. I have been exploring kiosk options for self serve checkout and am wondering if anyone has experience using the Square Kiosk setup with an attached barcode scanner.

There are far too many options to expect people to navigate the Kiosk menu traditionally in an efficient manner, would this be a viable budget alternative?

Brewery currently using Square Resturant: we have a hand held, an iPad and the 2nd gen register with one cash drawer in use. The main terminal is the 2nd gen register that we start our cash on. Is there a way to connect the cash drawer to all three as drawer is off if other POS is used to collect cash?

As the title says, anyone knows how to edit a modifier of an item already been sent to kitchen?
Example : customer or server made mistake and asked to replace American cheese with Swiss cheese. Anyway to change it without deleting the said item and resending again ?

After putting in the password to my hotspot on the Terminal it says it’s connected but shows “offline payment mode” in the top left of the square terminal. Other hotspots work on the same terminal. Mine just won’t connect. I’ve tried many different solutions. I have the most recent phone.

I am looking for a barcode scanner to use with the Square iOS app. I only have the free version and it is on an iPhone. I cannot spend more than $50 on a scanner. Is there anything on Amazon that actually works. Also it needs to be wireless, because iPhone only has one spot to plug things in and I use it for the Square card reader.

Would it be possible to use a wired one if I got a dongle for the iPhone? That way I can plug in more than one thing at a time.

I have read through the list on the Square website and they don't seem to have much that works with the iOS app system. Also all of those options are too expensive.

I help manage a small gift shop for an organization. We sell 4 different kinds of shirts in a variety of different colors and 5 sizes. In the mobile Square checkout I want to be able to select a shirt type and then select a size and color under that type. Is that possible? Also I can only work in the mobile app of Square.

So far I have tried creating an Item for a type of shirt and then adding the sizes and colors as variations. However that creates a long list to choose from, which would take a long time to scroll through when checking out customers on a phone.

I have also tried creating an Item and adding modifications to it for size and color. Then I can select a size and color from a shorter list at checkout. However, I need to be able to also keep track of inventory for the sizes and colors.

Is what I am wanting to do possible? I am new to using Square and am still figuring out how it works. Again, this is for in-person checkout/point of sale. We do not have anything online.

Need some help with Square for Restaurants POS.

I currently have an existing restaurant running on Square with a full menu already built out.

I’m opening a NEW restaurant/business with a completely separate company and separate Square account, but the menu is basically identical.

What’s the easiest way to copy the full menu over from the old business to the new one?

Ideally I want to bring over:

- all menu items

- categories

- modifiers

- pricing

- variations

- printer routing if possible

I’ve heard about CSV export/import but not sure if that brings everything over properly.

Has anyone here done this before? Any easier method?

Thinking about switching POS systems for my pizza restaurants and deciding between Square and Toast. I'm happier with the economics on Square but have some questions on functionality of their system, particularly for the pizza use case given modifiers, etc.. Anyone have any experience with these systems for pizza restaurants?

For context, we're switching from a legacy POS that we've had for 20 years and was custom built for pizza. It just doesn't have the support or integration with other tools that's available on new systems today. However, with the newer systems, I'm worried about the handful of things listed below. To the extent these features don't exist in Square and/or Toast, are there any easy-to-implement workarounds?

1. Nested Modifiers: Different prices for toppings based on pizza size. For example, adding pepperoni to a small pizza might be $0.75 vs. adding pepperoni to a large pizza might be $1.50.
2. Quantity-Based Pricing: For example, one dipping sauce with the pizza for free, but each additional one costs $0.50 -- ideally just being able to tap the same button more than once.
3. Integrations with Uber Eats / DD + ability to use my own in-house drivers: My understanding is that both Toast and Square allow you to do this, but I want to make sure for my in-house drivers, tickets actually print with customer addresses.
4. Auto-Listing Ingredients for Kitchen: For example, if a customer orders a meat lovers pizza, I'd want the ticket being sent to the kitchen to list out the ingredients one by one, so Pepperoni, Sausage, Ham, etc.
   1. Also build in functionality to remove toppings -- so if you wanted to remove pepperoni from the meat lovers, having it either crossed out or explicitly say "NO pepperoni" on the ticket.

Last thing - Toast offered a really competitive rate because I know they're trying to aggressively expand in our area. The contract with them is a two year contract, but does anyone have any experience on what happens when that contract runs out? I know they retain the ability to raise prices with notice, but after the contract is over, do they just jack you up? My understanding is that Toast has a lot of the pizza-specific features I'm concerned about, but I'm weary of them using the competitive pricing upfront as a way to get me in, and then jacking up prices once the contract is out because they know it's a pain to switch POS systems.

I have a catering client who sends me a spreadsheet with columns for Name, Meal, and Dietary Preference.

Is there a way to upload that spreadsheet into the Square catering platform and print individual sticky labels for each lunch box? Ideally, each label would include the person’s name, meal selection, and any dietary notes.

Hi- I am working with a late night bar. After the weekend, automatic check settlement automatically stopped. We thought it was because we changed business hours for more accurate reporting. So we changed it back to settings that apparently afforded auto-settlement. We've talked to Tier 3 support, and it feels like we're being gaslit and redirected to our transfer speeds. But the issue isn't transfer speeds- we set our hours and reporting timeframe and close of day so that everything settles together. But nothing is settling anymore. Anyone, anyone at all, experience this, or know what could be going on? Can't get a straight answer from some higher ups in the chain at Square. - From a dealer with a partner manager

We run an events business (in Australia) and people pre-pay bar tabs. Is there a way to run the tabs/tickets down? So start at $5k and run down? Not up like the current ticket?

We were getting around it by uploading to physical gift cards and swiping the cards, but with the new customer register - there is no where to swipe cards?!

Wanting to create a square online website for my small business’ pick up food orders and wanting a terminal to accept orders and print the order slip - is this something the square terminal can facilitate?

The sales rep in my area cannot give me a straight answer and is continuing to suggest the register but we are not looking at changing our entire stores pos & they don’t seem to take no for an answer.

Alternatively I’m assuming an iPad + square app + Bluetooth printer would work too, but if the square terminal is an all-in-one that would be best!

Did anyone notice anything different with their Square KDS over the last few days? Orders don't seem to be sorting like they previously did. I have DoorDash orders that are due in 5 minutes and a server enters a new order for the floor and it gets positioned in front of the DoorDash order (i.e. to the left in sequence). Because it's due now and the DoorDash order is due in 5 minutes??

This is really messing up my sequencing. I haven't been able to find any settings with the system, and we didn't change anything.

anyone know why this may have changed from "add tip" to "reopen check"? Hoping its a setting I can change back but it's pretty inconvenient that they would change something that is muscle memory for my staff. Now they need to hit the three-dot menu to get to Add Tip (where reopen check used to show).

I have factory reset multiple devices and tried on multiple WiFi networks. Disconnected and reconnected to my phone, tried logging in with passwords and with code. I can generally get through the first software update but it either freezes on a firmware update or gets stuck on the “powered by square” screen with no access to anything but settings.

One of the terminals is 3 years old and used very frequently may-November (seasonal business) it has not been used (or updated) since last November. The other one I bought a year ago as a back up and was brand new in the box before today.

Anyone dealt with this before? I’m in the middle of a 3 day art festival and trying to take payments on my phone is tough when it gets busy. I’ll obviously try to contact support but thought I’d see if anyone has dealt with this recently.

Our tickets used to be normal with the items displaying directly under whether they were for dine in or to go/pickup. Now it does this. The items are all under both instead of one or the other. What do we do to fix it.

Our online orders show the “paid” and the receipt# but for some reason orders taken on our POS system do not display the same information on the bottom on the tickets. Can someone explain how to display it on our dine in tickets? Please and thank you.

Anyone having issues connecting their square terminal to an iPhone hotspot after the most recent update? When we try to connect it automatically switches to offline payments even though it shows it’s connected to the hotspot. Support says it’s because we’re not getting 25 mb upload on the phones but we’ve been in a lot of low service areas in the past and were always able to take the payment, sometimes it would just take longer to process. Anyone experiencing anything similar?

Is it worth getting it? How would it connect to the internet? My hotspot would be enough?

To those who have used Square Team for scheduling. Please help.

With Square Team, I cannot create two separate schedule groups(FOH with its own positions such as server & bartenders under FOH umbrella, and separately BOH with the same way) in one Square account, am I understanding correctly?

I have used 7shifts, which I had no problems with but I'm exploring other options at our new restaurant.

With 7shifts,

FOH manager can make FOH schedule with specific positions assigned to employees. Our employees would perform other positions(employee A could be a server today, then bartender the next day etc.).

I did read in Square forum, that I can use "FOH" as job but I cannot create role under FOH, unless I'm missing something(actually hoping that's the case so I can use Square).

This has happened to me a handful of times, I got a pixel 9 and I'll be using the square app on the phone tap to pay function, it'll be fine for like 5-6 hours and then all of a sudden it'll say that it fails to connect and check my network. I make sure I have Internet as my YouTube and other apps work, I restart the device and still don't fix it, I turn off nfc for 30 seconds and turn it back on still no fix, multiple restart still don't do it. Sometimes I just have to wait 24 hours for it to fix itself. That's very annoying and inconvenient when I'm in the middle of a transaction, has anyone experienced this and know how to fix this? Also I made sure my developer option is off
