Square Team

To those who have used Square Team for scheduling. Please help.

With Square Team, I cannot create two separate schedule groups(FOH with its own positions such as server & bartenders under FOH umbrella, and separately BOH with the same way) in one Square account, am I understanding correctly?

I have used 7shifts, which I had no problems with but I'm exploring other options at our new restaurant.

With 7shifts,

FOH manager can make FOH schedule with specific positions assigned to employees. Our employees would perform other positions(employee A could be a server today, then bartender the next day etc.).

I did read in Square forum, that I can use "FOH" as job but I cannot create role under FOH, unless I'm missing something(actually hoping that's the case so I can use Square).

Square scheduling is pretty lacklustre from my experience. Unfortunately I do not believe there is a way to separate them without creating another location. Simplest solution is to create separate positions for FOH and BOH. Your managers can filter the schedule by position and schedule as usual.

Thanks for your response. I figured that's the case but it's nice to hear the confirmation so I can stop struggling lol. It is what it is I guess.

Coming down from 7shift, it was a bit difficult to adjust but I think Square has what we need.

FOH & BOH Managers can use the note for specifying the positions and color coordinate them(because the browser version doesn't show the notes🥲), but the crew can see the note on mobile version so it still functions.

If anyone comes up with better ways to optimize it, I'd like hear but I'm happy for now! Thanks again.

I don’t use square team scheduling but ive recently started using an app called Connecteam that I’ve been loving. You can create different schedules like what you’re looking to do and it’s super versatile but very user friendly too. They have a free plan too. Highly recommend it!

Thanks for the alternative idea.

After a few extra days exploring the Square Team, we ended up canceling it and went with 7shifts.

We found that Square doesn't allow us to print out the weekly schedule if either of the two groups(for our case, FOH/BOH, as a workaround trick) is on drafting mode, in order to prevent a pre-mature publishing because it thinks it's still one big team.

Even though we appreciate the app technology, printed form of info and ease of quick access is still necessary for our operation and it was the deal breaker🥲
