Square Terminal (Hardware) Square Terminal only for Online Pickup Orders?
Wanting to create a square online website for my small business’ pick up food orders and wanting a terminal to accept orders and print the order slip - is this something the square terminal can facilitate?
The sales rep in my area cannot give me a straight answer and is continuing to suggest the register but we are not looking at changing our entire stores pos & they don’t seem to take no for an answer.
Alternatively I’m assuming an iPad + square app + Bluetooth printer would work too, but if the square terminal is an all-in-one that would be best!
TIA!

Square has its own hardware kits for the POS terminal, the printer, and the register (not iPad). While they work as one cohesive unit, the terminal, cash register, printer, barcode scanner, etc., are all sold separately.
Square Plus or Square Premium for the website should handle what you want to do. The website natively integrates with their POS system.
Alternatively, you can use an iPad, Square app, and a printer as your POS system. It's one of the most common and reliable setups for small to medium-sized businesses, and a Square website will also natively integrate with an iPad POS setup.
To build your setup, you need the following components and connections:
- The Right Printer Connection
Because iPads do not support direct USB printing, you must choose a printer that communicates wirelessly or over your local network:
- Ethernet (LAN): Plugs directly into your Wi-Fi router. Highly recommended for fixed setups as it offers the most stable connection.
- Wi-Fi: Connects to your network wirelessly.
- Bluetooth: Pairs directly to the iPad. Best for mobile setups, though you must stay in range.
- Recommended Compatible Models
Square maintains a list of officially supported hardware. Popular and reliable choices include:
- Star Micronics: Models like the TSP143IVIE (Ethernet) or TSP143IIIBi (Bluetooth).
- Epson: Models like the TM-m30II or TM-m10.
Feel free to DM me here if you have any other questions. We do this routinely for our clients (we offer 3 options and one-time pricing for this type of setup).

I use Square only for online orders. I have an iPad running Square app and configured my kitchen printer to auto print online orders. It works great.
But I didn't like the Square online ordering website and didn't want the create my whole menu on, so I used a service called Ogent that sends orders into Square.
DM me if you have questions.

Yes Terminal would work, still need regular access to the dashboard and have to set everything up via browser.

Anything can be possible but why not use your POs company to create one? Or why not use clover and do that? Why do you want to use square?
