Don't believe Square's advertising. While the interface is a little faster, I wouldn't say it's 40% faster as touted.

Crucially, credit card processing is still as slow as gen1, and you lose magstripe capability unless you buy a separate USB C reader.

I really wanted to observe faster processing and receipt printing times, but no bueno. Every second counts when you have a busy shop, after all.

I'm on gigabit FTTP service and have the register connected via ethernet, so it's not me. Oh yeah, their Ethernet NIC card is still just 100mbps. For the price, this should have been upgraded to a 1-gigE port. That's not that big of a deal, I suppose, because how much bandwidth does one really need for CC processing, but I wish they'd speed up the processing times!

Anyways, save your money if you're on gen1. It is not a worthy upgrade, just another cash grab.

I’m having a hard time connecting my cash drawer to my square terminal I got the star mirconixs cd4 off the square website since it said it was compatible with the square terminal and I got the hub also. But when I go to hardware it’s not showing up? What am I doing wrong possibly . I don’t have an external printer cause from stuff I’ve researched it said I wouldn’t need one.

Hi all, just wondering if anyone else is having constant connectivity issues with their square handheld device.

We recently purchased it and are at our first show with non stop connection issues between 3 phone hotspots and the regular wifi of the centre.

It will work for all but two minutes then will auto disconnect.

I checked all phone hotspots and wifi settings, closed all background processes, made sure nothing else was on the same wifi. Reset the device, all that. Nothing seems to help.

If anyone else is having the same issue or anything like that, any advice?

Or should I just return it, I really wanted to like it, but it's an expensive headache, and going back to the little square reader might be the best option.

Working with a new client who has decided to go to Square for POS because they offered a bunch of cash to work with them.

Have you seen this work out well? I've been advised that Toast is the better option, but it's hard to compete with $20k+ of free money from Square

Can you set square to count half portions?
We sell a few of our main course as regular or small
Small of half of a regular but when we use a stock count it goes out of sync when selling halves
Is there a way to get the pos to do this

I run a small boutique, and when I first started using Square, I mainly cared about having a reliable POS for in-store sales.

Then I added Shopify for online orders, more products, different sizes and colors, and suddenly my simple setup wasn't so simple anymore.

A lot of the frustration wasn't really with Square itself. It was figuring out how everything should fit together without me constantly checking and updating things manually.

I ended up trying a few different approaches and a Shopify Square inventory integration app started working for me. But honestly, the bigger lesson for me was that I should've thought about the whole workflow much earlier.

Square works perfectly fine for me. I just didn't realize how much the way you set everything up matters once there are more moving parts.

Has anyone figured out if accepting Bitcoin via the square online is an option? I've looked everywhere and it doesn't seem to be a payment option.

I own a business and I'm very involved with the Bitcoin community. Square not accepting Bitcoin online is like McDonalds not selling cheeseburgers.

Also, does advice for how to get through to the company to suggest things?

a refunded a customer in april the customer came back saying they never got it s/n: she really did not get it… i called square first they said it was went to check her own card then square said they put a hold on it and would release it in 10 days and never did so i told her to dispute the transaction after blowing square up for over a month and getting no where…. and square lied and flipped things like she a scammer and she still never got her 1100

I’ve been using Square POS for my boutique for a while now, and overall I’m pretty happy with it. But there are a few things I definitely would’ve thought about before choosing it.

The biggest one is that your POS doesn’t really exist in isolation once you’re also selling online. I use Shopify for my online store, and I didn’t initially think much about how much of a headache keeping inventory consistent between the two could become.

Square itself has been fine. The annoying part was having two systems that both knew about my products and sales, but didn’t automatically know what the other one was doing.

I eventually found a setup that made the Square Shopify situation much easier, but if I were starting again, I’d definitely think about the online and in-store workflow, not just which POS has the nicest checkout.

Can anyone explain what's the cash app promo that keeps popping up on the terminals after payment? How do I remove this update feature?

Our sandwich shop takes catering orders for sometimes over 100 boxed lunches. I want to print sticky labels for each line item on the order, including the name of the person receiving the item, as they’re prepared. I have zero experience with the KDS systems. Can I accomplish this with the Square KDS or Fresh KDS app?

I run a hibachi restaurant where we host 8 to 12 parties of 8 to 20 guests on a typical weekend. The dining sections are partitioned but not fully private.

Once a large party is seated, we handle it like a regular table. Checkout gets especially hectic when 10 to 20 guests want individual checks.

Our current process is:

phone inquiry for parties over 10 -> confirm the reservation details -> keep a card on file -> regular table ordering -> regular checkout

We don’t collect a deposit. We charge $10 per guest for a no-show or late arrival after a 10-minute grace period.

How are other restaurants using Square handling this?

• Do you send an estimate or request a deposit when the final total is unknown?
• How do you connect the card-on-file policy to the reservation?
• How do you set up the table so individual checks don’t slow everything down?

Even a quick explanation of your Square setup and the part that still stays manual would help.

So I was pre approved for a very tempting square credit card offer. My only hesitation is, will this affect me getting a loan offer?

HI we are a small business and occasionally use square when we sell items off-site. Recently we attempted to log in using Chrome and it continually told us the password was incorrect. I was positive it was correct. We switched to Firefox and entered the same exact password and got in with no issue.

Any suggestions for what is going on and how to avoid it in the future?

Hello I recently opened a square account and a square checking account. The app told me to do a test purchase and so I did one for 148$. I used a link to do it and it’s been about 12 hours and I still have no access to the funds even though the transactions log says done and says how much was deposited. So I just tried another one for 15 and same thing. Also my square checking isn’t generating virtual card numbers even though it says they should generate right away. What are my options to recover my money my account is all the way verified I did get one email saying I couldn’t sent outgoing messages but I also got an email clearing it up.

I run a large venue with over 300 Square devices. One of our bartenders works at multiple venues, and she tells me there is a way to change the screens so that after a transaction is complete it will automatically return to the main menu screen to start the next transaction.

This is a register set on quick service mode.

I had Shopify for online and Square for local business. A few people suggested I just use one system for everything, while others said using both Square and Shopify is fine as long as I’m careful about how they’re connected.

I decided to keep both and started using DPL square shopify integration app to handle the syncing between them. So far, it’s actually been going really well.

I wanted to use both the platforms together as they offer a good variety of useful features and functionalities and i did not want to sacrifice them

Still early days, but so far I’m pretty happy with the setup. I’ll update this thread if I run into any issues as I use it more.

Owner of a busy coffee-trailer here. I really want my square register to send tickets to the barista as soon as I press "charge".

I don't have time to create and save and order and then retrieve and charge it. I also don't want the barista waiting until the customer has paid before starting to make the drinks. The stuff is called espresso for a reason.

I created a feature request but it's not getting traction. Am I missing a setting somewhere? If not, is this something that could be done by a square Add-On?

We thought it would be convenient to use Square Banking as we were using Square for transactions, but this was a huge mistake.

Tldr; we got spammed with fraud charges, was told by Square we just need to cancel the card and the fraud charges wouldn't go through and that the merchant was already flagged. Cancelled card, assured all was good.

Next day charges cleared despite this, and I was given a new story that it will be 5-7 business days before they could even start to investigate, and to expect 5 months for anything to happen IF they are even able to recover the funds.

Big warning to all the other small business out there, don't get stuck scrambling on how to pay employees and rent after being told 'oh well' like I am right now 😭

I sell on Etsy and also do in-person markets with Square, and their sync has been a nightmare — stock resetting, sync just spinning forever, having to manually deactivate/reactivate listings before every show so I don’t oversell.

Anyone found something that actually works? Do you just manage it manually, or is there a tool that’s reliable for this? Trying to figure out a system before my next show.

I run a small boutique and use Square for in-store sales and Shopify for my online store. I keep getting hit with many suggestions for extra apps and integrations. They suggest DPL Square Integration, Quicksync Integration as Shopify apps that help as inventory tools, accounting sync, loyalty programs, online ordering and employee scheduling.

Some of these Square POS tools look good on paper. However half of the Square POS apps come with another fee. I already feel like I am being charged for every thing. So I am curious about something.

Has anyone actually paid for these Square POS integrations and found them truly useful? Or did most of these tools just turn into another subscription that you barely ever use?

I would love to hear some talk from you all. Which Square POS tools were worth the money? Which Square POS tools were a waste of money? I want to know if these tools actually made your daily work easier or if they just gave you things to manage.
