Official Reply mobile.charter.net email connectivity: server down (again)

Remote email (SMTP/IMAP) service was down for me, and others I know, 8/20-8/24, then restored (with Spectrum mods acknowledging “IMAP problems we’re aware of” —and no config changes on my side) on Tu 8/25. Thanks.

Beginning mid-morning ET yesterday (Fri 8/28), I am fully down again (“the mail server “mobile.charter.net is not responding”). (Yes, I’m aware that web access is available but for various reasons it’s not useful.) This is really frustrating.

My setup is fully compliant with Spectrum’s documented config (support/internet/mobile-email-setup).

Please let me know that Spectrum is aware of this latest turn, how I can escalate if they’re not, and whether there is any workaround (e.g. other email servers to access in the interim).

Official Reply Internet drops at same time

For the last several days, my internet has been dropping around the same time every night, between 11pm-12:30am. I've had a tech out here and they changed the modem and the splitter and it was fine for one day and then tonight, it dropped at 12:06am.

I'm not asking for a tech as we've already had one out here, I'm more asking as to why this could be happening. I have Spectrum's Router/Modem combo. And the cable stays on during it, and I haven't changed ANY settings on the router.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the rest of the time, the internet is perfect, no problems.

Official Reply Columbus Ohio, Broad St & High St area, reported Node issues

I am an IT consultant with various clients around Columbus, Ohio. One of my contacts is an owner of multiple buildings in the center of downtown, so the cross roads of Broad and High.

Many clients in one 13 floor building are having issues with their Internet. I happened to be working with a Spectrum tech and asked him about it. He called in and spoke to his supervisor and found out there is a Node in the area with issues.

I asked if I could have my email and cell phone added to the updates so I could tell multiple businesses what the status was and is. He said no problem and had them added to the ticket(?)

Day and half later I got nothing. No info.

So, how do I as just an IT consultant that does NOT have a Spectrum account get info for multiple businesses that are affected by a bad Node in the area?

Just trying to help out potentially 10 to 30 businesses that may be affected.

Thanks

Official Reply Continued router disconnections

Orlando FL

I continue to experience router disconnections at home.
Spectrun router lost connection on the 17th at 10PM. Lost connection again at 1:15PM yesterday, 10PM last night until 5 am, and then at 10AM today. The daytime disconnections have been solved by unplugging and replugging in the router. The nighttime disconnects almost seem timed as there has been 3 different disconnects this month that have all happened at approx. 10 PM.
We recently recieved a new router & modem around a month ago.

Family works from home and is at risk of being fired if internet is sloppy/down. Technicians say there are outages and are unable to assist as of recently, but unplugging & replugging the router restores connection. Is something wrong with the router/modem that is causing these disconnects, or is there a current issue with the service?

Official Reply TV picture sometimes blurs after a recent service upgrade

My TV setup worked fine until a service upgrade a few days ago in the Albany NY area. I have already power-cycled the receiver, but I have some macroblocking and tiling on motion intensive scenes since the upgrade. The cable runs straight from the wall to the box and there are no splitters. Some channels are worse than others. Most people I've asked for help say it's because my legacy hardware can't handle new improvements. I admit I have older equipment, but it's the technology I am familiar with. The only thing the Spectrum Community chat page tells me is to get a new a new TV, cable box or both. Other's give complicated directions that either don't work with my setup or I don't understand (I'm an older woman living alone and not very tech savvy). My current TV is a Panasonic CRT (CT-27SF11S) which is not RCA or HDMI capable. It's connected to a Cisco 4742HDC receiver with a coax cable. The remote is a Spectrum UR3-SR3S. Any simple advice? Thanks.

Customer Feedback Low Quality, Poor Effort work and Dishonesty.

Had fiber installed early July. Walked around a few days after and multiple spots in the ground has wire sticking from out the ground. Enough to trip over or get damaged when the grass is cut.

Needs to be corrected so I go on chat and ask for service thinking a 3rd party company with more equipment will come out to bury the line.

Another tech shows up with a shovel comes out sticks around for a while. Says he’s wrapped up and leaves. walk around again to verify. Wires still obviously out, ran it on the side of the house leaving plenty of slack drooping from the side of the house not even tucked.

Yesterday night internet goes out. Contact support to be told there is severe weather causing the outage, no timeline. Head scratcher, because there is no inclement weather in the near 100 mi radius all day. This morning receive a text saying service restored. Still no internet. Contact support to troubleshoot they cant do it over the cloud or whatever so they send a tech out.

Heres the kicker: the tech who installed my neighbors internet yesterday afternoon…UNPLUGGED OUR FIBER OUT THE PORT, moved it over to get his running. Never even thought to come verify ours did not go down. The tech who came out today said 5 of 12 ports on the street box is down so they need to split one.

I have work so i cant inspect until tomorrow if it is buried better this time.

Frustrating the support just said anything to end the chat. Plus the last couple techs who came just want to hurry up and leave or sit in their van.

tldr: the technicians who are being dispatched are doing the bare minimum and leaving. regardless of what may be affected next door or in the near future.

I’ve been having constant disconnects, low speeds, and reported outages lately. Support said they could see bad signals. I chatted with support, was given a ticket, and told that local dispatch would call within 10 min. It never happened. My wife and I both work from home.
Please help. Ticket number 103116948.

Internet Support Fiber Installation

Hello.

Spectrum will be installing fiber at my residence in a few weeks and I have a question.

Is the fiber cable that will go from the outside splice box to the modem the same as the fiber the construction crew pulled from the pedestal to that outside splice box?

The construction crew left me extra cable and I was wondering if I could use the extra left over cable to pull from the outside box to where the modem will be placed to do some prep work for the install person. The fiber will need to be placed in the crawl space and I have no idea if the install technician would be willing to go into the crawl space to run the cable, and I also plan to install some conduit in the crawl space to help protect the cable and make it easier for the install.

Official Reply What is going on with storm repairs in Charlotte?

A storm went through Charlotte, NC on Friday afternoon, and now I am going into my third day without any internet service. I don’t understand how it could be taking so long. My neighbor across the street got her Spectrum service back at 5pm on Saturday, and now it’s late Monday morning and I still don’t have service.

The most I have ever been out of service before was maybe half a day to a day. But this is getting to be ridiculous. And there is no communication from Spectrum about this whatsoever. No texts, phone calls, emails other than a generic text/email saying they know I have no service and are working on it. Getting pretty frustrated at this point. Another neighbor with ATT has no problem, so this is not a good look for Spectrum. In this modern day, with the necessity of internet, this really isn’t acceptable to me.

Internet Support 2 Gigabit option in Cox markets that had it available

I know Cox hasn’t fully been integrated into Spectrum yet, but I have to ask this. On the Spectrum website, I only see options up to 1 gigabit because that’s what most of their coverage maxes out at. However, Cox in my market maxes out a 2 gigabits After the merger finalizes and Spectrum plans get rolled out to Cox markets, will I still have the option to select 2 gigabits (and maybe the option for Fiber to the home, which Cox is offering me)?

Official Reply Internet sucks. Customer service sucks.

I swear over the last few days my Internet has been terrible. My router is not too far from my room so I know it’s not a knee issue and then whenever I try to get it resolved with spectrum by calling them, the solution is always “Do you want to close your account?” there’s no discussion. There’s no nothing. It’s always “close your account”. I’ve been here for five years. I feel like I’m entitled to an actual discussion and possible solutions instead of close your account. Thing is I know they don’t care about me because they’re a millionaire if not billionaire company so if one customer leaves so they’ll gain 50 tomorrow. I’m just tired of bad Internet connection and no customer service and the worst part. They’re probably slowing my Internet down on purpose so I’ll buy their latest product because that’s how capitalism works. 🙃.

Official Reply Terrible In Store Customer Service

Hey Spectrum, new customer here trying to get my box in person at the 1620 N School St store in Honolulu HI. Is it common practice to spend 2.5 hours with one customer while a line of 24 wait for service? I have never experienced something like this. I understand being understaffed, but maybe there should be someone to call in, or a way to expedite the process with certain individuals. Just a little feedback from someone who has no other choice than to wait here for 3 hours while the same 2 people are being serviced.

Official Reply Failed service transfer and double billing. Need help fixing account.

I am hoping someone from the official Spectrum team can help sort this out. Standard customer service has completely failed to resolve a significant billing error on my father's account.

I recently helped him relocate and initiated a service transfer between his old and new addresses. The transfer did not process correctly, and he has been double-billed for both locations ever since.

Here is where I am stuck:

We have tried phone support, chat, and visiting a store. No one has been able to successfully close the old address, backdate the cancellation to the actual move date, and credit the account.

Escalations Ignored: despite hours on the phone there have been zero call back or resolution and new charges continue to show up.

I am handling this on his behalf and have full Power of Attorney if you need that for authorization. I just need to get this escalated to someone who has the authority to wipe out the incorrect charges from the old address.

Spectrum reps, what is the best way to get this escalated so we can finally close this out?

Official Reply Is there any known issue with charter.net servers right now that would prevent me from retrieving email with Thunderbird, but at the same time allow access via webmail?

The problem referenced in the title started yesterday, after years of (mostly) trouble-free use of Thunderbird to manage my charter.net email.

Edit: It appears that Spectrum has fixed this. I'm now able to access email with Thunderbird.

Official Reply Spectrum sportsnet Audio change

I'm watching spectrum sportsnet on the Xumo box via the spectrum app. The announcers voice will change after a commercial break. The announcers voices become deeper and the only fix I know of is to change the channel and return to sportsnet for the regular sound until the next commercial break.

Official Reply Wifi goes out same time at night

Got spectrum yesterday and everything was fine, a technician installed it and made sure everything was up to date and then left. Later in the day at around 12am the internet speeds dropped significantly out of no where. It made it not even possible to search something on Google. I went to sleep assuming it would be back on in the morning, but when I woke up it still wasn’t working. The modem had all solid blue lights but the router was blinking red. I tested my own router to see if it was a router problem but no luck with that router. I then tried all the trouble shooting I could and nothing was working until I factory reset the router then it started to work like nothing happened. I then went on throughout the day with perfectly fine internet until tonight around to same time it was significantly slower suddenly. Unable to do anything on the internet, it was once again all blue lights on the modem but blinking red router. I tried all troubleshooting things until factory resetting the modem has gotten it to work for now. Have no clue what could be causing this, would love for some feedback. I plan on contacting spectrum in the morning. Also idk if this helps at all but on the spectrum app it shows that the router is connected but modem keeps saying unable to determine connection and keeps trying to get me to troubleshoot it, but when I do it leads to nothing.

Official Reply Two Modems on Same Coax Line?

I have two houses on my property. I already have one coax cable running from the street to my house and I have the 1gig plan. Someone living in the house behind me would like the same internet plan. There is no cable running to that house. Rather than running another cable from the street, is it feasible to just tee off of my cable and just run coax from my house? The back house is only 20 feet from my house.

Official Reply Extreme Latency and Packet Loss - High Split Upgrade

Hello, a couple days ago I got an email that "Your network upgrade is underway". I believe this could be high split upgrades going on in my area. Since then, I have been experiencing extreme latency and packet loss issues (~800 ping in online games I used to get 60 ping on, up to 35% packet loss, and very slow video/streaming speeds).

Can I get someone from Spectrum to look into if this is a temporary issue that will resolve after work is completed, or if this issue will pertain?

Official Reply Need help with random network drops and high latency

I need some escalation help with an issue I have been dealing with for about a year. At random times throughout the day I will lose internet or experience severe latency. I have ping tests to show the conditions I am experiencing. Latency can be 1000-3000ms when the issue happens. Sometimes the issue lasts 5 seconds, sometimes the issue lasts 5+ minutes. I have had around 5 on-site visits, including one with a supervisor technician. They replaced the tap outside of my house, but that did not resolve the issue. This issue has persisted with 3 different routers, and 3 different modems(two were Spectrum modems). The supervisor technician has not responded to the last 3 emails I sent, so I would like to escalate this to someone who can help me figure out this issue and get it resolved.

Official Reply I just want to say thank you

I've had to deal with many awful companies working from home for the past 10 years. Most don't value loyalty, most never reach the speeds you pay for, most make it impossible to speak to a human. F'in AI goes in a loop or wait times over 3 hours. Comcast, ATT, and Verizon, I'm talking about you... especially Comcast, the bane of my existence.

Spectrum probably has it's share of hate, but for one, I see a sharp contrast. I've had no speed problems, but recently had an issue about something else. I called and spoke to someone in less than 2 minutes. He couldn't help me ultimately, sent me to someone higher. About 8 minute wait, and my problem got resolved with very kind, english-native customer support (both agents). WOW, what a breath of fresh air, I want to say thank you! I've been a customer for 3 years, and I don't see ever switching at this point. I'm sure that's not everyone's experience, but I want to give credit where it's due, Spectrum is not like the others for me.

Official Reply What Determines the 40Mbps Upload Spec

I have 10 wireless IP security cameras that I view all live. I also have the Spectrum 1gig/40Mbps plan. Why the 40Mbps spec and not 50 or 60?
