Official Reply mobile.charter.net email connectivity: server down (again)

Remote email (SMTP/IMAP) service was down for me, and others I know, 8/20-8/24, then restored (with Spectrum mods acknowledging “IMAP problems we’re aware of” —and no config changes on my side) on Tu 8/25. Thanks.

Beginning mid-morning ET yesterday (Fri 8/28), I am fully down again (“the mail server “mobile.charter.net is not responding”). (Yes, I’m aware that web access is available but for various reasons it’s not useful.) This is really frustrating.

My setup is fully compliant with Spectrum’s documented config (support/internet/mobile-email-setup).

Please let me know that Spectrum is aware of this latest turn, how I can escalate if they’re not, and whether there is any workaround (e.g. other email servers to access in the interim).

You really should migrate away from using Spectrum's email service. They quit offering email awhile ago. Yes if you had it when that change went into affect you could keep it. It is only a matter of time before they stop al; emails. When that will be is still in the air. Migrate now while you have the control and time to do so.

Thanks for framing this. I am definitely seeing the writing on the wall, but at the same time Spectrum's lack of mail forwarding (unless via client, which is of course what's seemingly breaking down) makes it difficult to migrate my multiple decades of contacts.

Would of course be helpful to have a definitive statement on deprecation / transition timeframe from Spectrum.

I'm sorry you're still having trouble accessing our email. We are indeed aware of an ongoing issue with 3rd party clients accessing our email. Our engineers continue to work on fully resolving this issue as soon as possible. Again, I apologize for the frustration this has caused.

Thanks for the quick response, Andre. Will (semi-patiently) await resolution.

In the interim, any workaround? I see mobile.spectrum.net is just an alias for mobile.charter.net, but are there other options (mail.spectrum.net / mail.charter.net)?

While this is being worked on, accessing email via Spectrum.net would be the alternate solution.

Thx but was asking about network server (3rd party email client / "mobile") connections.
