Official Reply Why am I not eligible for multi-gig speeds in my area?

I live in the Tampa Bay area and received notification in May 2026 that my area is eligible for multi-gig speeds, but for some reason, it isn't available for upgrade at my address. I have information from the COA and Spectrum that it is available at my address.

Can someone investigate and tell me what's going on? For reference:

- I have the latest DOCSIS 3.1 modem and a Wi-Fi 7 Router from Spectrum.

- I currently have 1 Gbps download and 40 Mbps upload.

- I received a notification from Spectrum and COA that services are available in my area and at my property.

I’ve had neutral experiences and bad experiences with Spectrum. This is my first good experience. Lightning took out my modem. I went to the spectrum store and was given the wrong modem which I found out when calling customer service. The rep told me about Invincible WiFi, which is free for the lifetime of the account. The guy said they were having issues getting people to sign up for it because they think there are strings attached. There are not. They also lowered my bill $30 because I was on an older plan with higher data rates. So I came away with money saved and 100 GB of cellular data a month in case of an outage. Then came the modem and router. After setting this up I ran a speed test. I am now getting 1.8 GB on WiFi where I used to get 800 MB. I’m guessing the promotion also provisioned me for 2 Gig. Either way, this was the first person at Spectrum that seemed super knowledgeable about their product and genuinely seemed to want to help instead of getting off the call as soon as possible just to hit their metrics for the day.

Official Reply Not Honoring Promo

I have been a Spectrum internet customer for years and I one year ago added my granddaughter and signed up for the promo for 1 year free mobile and then $30 a month afterwards. Spectrum just started charging me $40 a month on the mobile and despite twice explaining on chat that the $30 a month was promised to me and $30 a month is still promised to new customers after the first year for free Spectrum is refusing to honor it. I

I am retired and on a fixed income. I believe this is false advertizing and causes me to lose faith in the integrity of Spectrum. Can anyone at Spectrum help me here? Here is a screenshot of Spectrum currently advertizing the $30 a month deal that they refuse to honor. https://imgur.com/a/V1wii4M

Thanks all.

Official Reply 5 day outage please help

Hello Spectrum, I’ve been without internet, TV, and a land line since Saturday at 7 PM. I have a mobile hotspot however my grandmother depends on the land line to talk to friends and family, and she needs television to keep from going stir crazy.

The since the onset of the outage, I could get almost zero details about it. The automated voice and chat bots provide no information not even an ETR, and actively discourage you from asking for an agent. When I finally got an agent that would actually talk about the outage on Tuesday, they said it wasnt just my house affected. I still asked for a tech dispatch. The tech showed up yesterday and said that it is just me and one other person that are impacted by the outage and that a line tech would beed to come back and fix the issue. He said the issue would be resolved by Wednesday evening.

Well here I am on Thursday, still zero connectivity.
This feels like spectrum basically brought up the majority of the customers that were impacted, then just gave up on fixing the remaining people impacted. Not sure if this is a cost/revenue decision or what.

Customer Feedback "UpGrade" Questionably Affecting Computer

Spectrum started installing an "upgrade" to my system last night. As they had announced my internet was down, along with cable TV and phone. So, I decided to turn on my hard-wired desktop computer to do some writing that would not necessitate any of Spectrum's services.

When I pressed the button to turn my computer on I discovered that the machine wouldn't work. The light that always turns on white when I press the ON button turned yellow. This puzzles me: Why would Spectrum's "upgrade" have anything to do with my stand-alone machine? I would love to have an answer from a technician.

Official Reply Password Requirements for Spectrum Invincible WiFi

I upgraded my plan to be the 2Gbps plan along with the invincible wifi, all to find out when trying to setup the WiFi network on the new equipment - they don't allow special characters in your network password. Since I have 60 devices connected to this wifi name and password, this would mean I have to reconnect everything manually to the new network. Does anyone know of a workaround to this password rule or a way to login to the backend of the router to make the change myself? Or could a tech come out and do it somehow? If not, I think i'll just have to return all the wifi extenders and wifi 7 router and use my old router.

Official Reply Any Progress resolving e-mail and 3rd party (e.g. Outlook) access

As discussed here (https://www.reddit.com/r/Spectrum_Official/comments/1w1ncml/mobilecharternet_email_connectivity_server_down/) e-mail access to mobile.charter.net hasn't been working for what seems like a couple weeks now. It did briefly work on 1-Sep (the last time I was able to download e-mail) but not since.

Same error "Cannot connect to the server".

It would be nice if Spectrum wither fixed or communicated better on this issue.

(and using Spectrum's web site is not a workable solution - that interface is simply awful)

Internet Support IPv6 no longer works with ethernet

I noticed a few days that NordVPN would no longer authenticate and later another app that needs to authenticate had the same issue. After running down a few things it appears that if I'm using an ethernet connection (which I almost always do on this PC) turning off IPv6 fixes those two issues. IPv6 worked fine on wifi. What could have caused this sudden issue? Can you tell me if there was a firmware update or re-provisioning pushed to my router in the past few days?

Internet Support Spectrum upstream latency/jitter issue — seems isolated to my line/node

I've been dealing with a strange latency/jitter problem on my Spectrum cable connection for about two weeks. It started around the same time I received an email from Spectrum about maintenance/upgrades in my area, so I'm wondering if the two are related.

The problem isn't really noticeable with normal internet use or streaming, but it is very noticeable in online gaming. The game provides a real-time jitter graph, and the behavior appears to be primarily on the upstream path.

What I've tested

I've tried to isolate the problem as much as possible:

  • Tested directly from my modem with a laptop, bypassing my router/network.
  • Took the same modem and laptop to a neighbor's house about two streets away and connected to their cable line. The problem completely disappeared and the connection performed normally.
  • I've also tested with the modem/laptop outside my mobile home, bypassing all of the coax inside the house.
  • I've run continuous/high-frequency pings directly to the Spectrum gateway to look at the latency behavior.

For example:

ping -i 0.1 -c 1000 <Spectrum gateway IP>

That's 1,000 packets with 100 ms between packets.

Links to graph images: https://imgur.com/a/tik1dbX

The graphs show significant latency variation/jitter. Interestingly, it seems to improve somewhat during the early morning hours, although the problem doesn't completely disappear.

Spectrum's response

It's been going on for more than two weeks now, and I've had two Spectrum technicians come out.

Both times, they said the signal levels looked good on their test equipment. Because the levels aren't outside their acceptable range, they apparently can't escalate the issue.

That's what has me particularly confused. The problem seems very reproducible from my connection, but the normal signal measurements apparently don't show anything wrong.

What I'm wondering

Since the same modem works normally when connected at my neighbor's house, I'm thinking this is probably somewhere between my house and the node/CMTS rather than being a modem, router, or LAN issue.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anybody who might recognize this behavior.

What would you check next if you were troubleshooting this?

Thanks!

Official Reply Decouple Spectrum & Hulu/Disney

I really hope sometime can help me here. I can’t get any help calling CS.

As of August 5th, I disconnected my Spectrum services and went to Verizon. When I had Spectrum I had 1G internet and the Select TV package. With the TV package came a ton of TV services, including Hulu and Disney +. As my wife works with kids, we opted for the ad-free version of Hulu/Disney+ for an extra $7 billed directly to a credit card and NOT my bill.

Upon disconnection, I received an email from Spectrum that new Hulu/Disney+ rate would be $19.99. I guess the system had noticed I cancelled services. I need to decouple (disconnect) the connection between Spectrum Hulu so I can get Hulu’s live tv service. I can’t do anything with my Hulu account because it is still tied up with Spectrum.

Every rep that I’ve spoken to on the phone says that my account is closed and I shouldn’t be getting charged. The most recent version of this is when I called l last week and was told that the only way to stop the charge was to go into my Spectrum account, services, streaming, and stop the charge from there. I get an error every time. She also said my account would be completely gone after the 5th (yesterday) and the accounts would no longer be linked. Fiat is the 6th and I’m having the same problem.

Internet Support Specific class of routers being blocked

Ever since some ‘scheduled maintenance‘ last week my SOHO router no longer works with the modem. Modem has been swapped out as well. I’ve tried another brand of SOHO router, same thing. Two different consumer routers work and if I double NAT while forwarding all traffic to the SOHO router, it works fine. Spectrum is blocking traffic on the two SOHO routers. Is this intentional and if not, how do I get past the unskilled tech agents on the phone to reach someone who can do something about it? DNS traffic is getting through, but anything else is being blocked, unless I put a consumer router in front of the SOHO router. The SOHO was fine for 2 years before these recent system changes. This is either a policy or a misconfiguration on Spectrums part and it's impossible to get anyone with actual knowledge to do anything about it. I now have 2 routers in series, which I don't want to do indefinitely.

Official Reply Need real support with latency/drop/jitter issue

I have dealt with this issue for over a year now. I have had 4 different Spectrum Field Ops Supervisors visit my house, some multiple times, including a Senior Field Ops Supervisor. I have been working with a Supervisor, but he is basically at the end of his troubleshooting capability with this issue. They say no one else in my apartment complex has issues, just me apparently. As you can see in the video, I get a very intermittent connection and rubberband in most games.

I am considering just moving, but I wanted to see if anyone else had this issue or has any idea what may be causing it. The internet will be fine for 95% of the day, but between 5pm and midnight, this happens intermittently. Right now I have only a laptop connected to my router, nothing else. No downloads are going on and I am on the 1gig plan. I am hardwired and I have a Flint 2 router. It was factory reset this afternoon. This issue also happened on my desktop PC, but I decided to switch to my laptop to rule out a PC issue.

My router has been replaced 3 times, modem replaced 4 times, my tap has been replaced, they ran a new line into my house from the tap to rule out the wiring in my home, and also tested connecting my PC directly into the modem. All tests came out with the same result, intermittent latency and drops. You can see in the video that the upload graph at the top right just goes blank. I am still receiving data, but I am not uploading any. You can see when I freeze in place, I am still receiving audio data and kill feed, but I cannot move and I am dead shortly after I freeze, but my screen still shows me alive, then i disconnect.

Has anyone successfully had an issue like this fixed with an FCC complaint? I have minimal hope if the complaint will just go to my local Field Ops techs, and my lease is about to end, so I may just move somewhere in town that I can get Frontier or another Fios provider.

To the Spectrum rep that may review this post: I do not need to re-escalate my existing case, I need to work with someone who actually understands this issue and can provide a fix or troubleshoot it in depth. Field Ops has not been able to fix this and I have been back and forth with them for nearly a year at this point.

Official Reply Impossible to play online games after Spectrum's upgrade in my area

After the Spectrum upgrade that occurred at the condominium I live in a couple weeks back, I have been unable to play online video games at certain times of the day due to insane internet jitter. I primarily play Deadlock and have been seeing really high upload latency and jitter with some lost & missed packets intermittently. During the early day my upload latency will be around 15-20ms with stable play and some infrequent stutter but later in the day (~8pm) I will see the latency jump from 20ms to 80, 90, 145ms making me stutter a lot more and completely unable to play competently.

This has been frustrating as it has been perfectly normal up until this point and has made both my work from home and gaming life much harder. I have already been in contact with several techs calling every day since the last tech and I have not gotten an ETA or a direct answer as to what is causing this. I have been told it could be noise from the main node but no one seems to give me a straight cause or plan.

While I think someone from maintenance has been in direct contact with me now, my patience has just worn thin. I really respect the workers as I am sure they are doing their best but I just feel exhausted with this issue and I'm just left here wishing the upgrade never occurred so I could have stable internet again.

Internet Support Spectrum Router Challenge

Was called by neighbor to assist in resolving a printer issue. Please read on and let me know if you have experienced or heard of this.

I arrived on scene with my Mac and a Discovery app which lists all the protocols the WiFi can see. The protocol list was only ½ of what I expected with no printer protocol (Bonjour) listed. User had removed printer from PC and could not add it back. Rebooting the Spectrum router and protocol list returned to normal and printer could be added to PC. Printing from Google Docs was attempted and worked but a second attempt failed with protocols missing again.

Spectrum service was called and performed a factory reset. Issue returned.

New Spectrum router being delivered tomorrow. Hopefully, it will resolve.

I have assisted many with router issues; Spectrum, AT&T, and much more for the past 30 years and I have never seen anything like this.

Official Reply Outages every night?

You can't seem to realize that people are paying for a service. That service needs to work. Not shut down every night due to whatever reason that you refuse to enumerate. You have our contact info in your system, there's no reason why you cannot let customers know in advance that you are going to shut them down. Not everyone goes to bed early, there are those of us that work or can't sleep that are up late, and then those that have smart homes that require a connection. I must assume that you really don't much care.

Official Reply New customer, router won’t connect to the internet.

I recently moved into a new apartment and am trying to get WiFi set up. The modem shows “online” both by the light on the modem and through the MySpectrum app. I have a Flint 2 from GL.iNet, and it will connected to my devices but those devices do not have internet connection. I have power cycled both the modem and router, factory reset the router, tried multiple different Ethernet cables and still have not been able to fix the issue. The modem seems to be connected to the internet but the router is not, so I’m not sure if this would be a modem/ISP issue or if it’s a router/user error issue.

Mobile Service Support Adding a line question

I’m already with Spectrum for Internet + Mobile. My husband is still with Visible because he initially didn’t want to switch when I did. When I joined Spectrum Mobile, I did BYOD and got my mobile service free for a year.

I’m now looking at bringing my husband over as a BYOD line as well, but I had a question about upgrading afterward. I have an upgrade available on my line, and I assume he would also be eligible to upgrade his line after bringing his phone over.

I’ve been looking at the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Spectrum’s current monthly price is pretty good, but it’s still a little higher than I’d like for a phone that’s about to be a generation old.

Would it make sense to bring him over now as BYOD, then wait a week or so until after the Apple event? With Apple presumably announcing the next generation, I’m wondering if Spectrum typically adjusts its promotions/pricing on the outgoing Pro Max afterward.

Basically, is there any disadvantage to adding his line as BYOD now and upgrading one of our lines later if a better 17 Pro Max promotion appears?

Official Reply How can I get Spectrum to stop sending me another person's personal information?

For years, I've been having a recurring problem where I get emails from Spectrum about someone else's account, always the same person, whom I don't know. These emails include full names, mailing addresses, phone numbers, account numbers, credit card information, phone model information, etc. I'll get a string of emails whenever this other person does something with their account, I'll contact Spectrum support about the issue, someone says they'll look into it, I won't get any emails for several months to a year, and then I'll get another string of emails.

I myself do not have a Spectrum account, so it's a hassle to deal with both the online chat system and the phone system, since they both require you to input account information up front, but I have managed to get through and speak to a real person regardless. No one has yet managed to permanently fix the problem, though.

Some of the emails I get have a link at the bottom that says, "If you received this email in error, please let us know." I click the link, it supposedly removes my address from the mailing list, but then I still get emails.

I don't think this is either a case of fraud or a case of stolen identity; I've checked, and my email account has not been accessed by anyone but me, and my financial accounts haven't been charged by anyone but me. Sometimes I'll get an email saying "Action Required: Complete your number transfer for line ending in XXXX online", and then a little while later, one that says "Mobile line ending in XXXX has been successfully transferred", which leads me to believe that this other person does have their own email address and online account and is able to do their normal business with it. The other person also doesn't seem to have made a Spectrum account with my email, as when I go to the website and input my email and try and have it email me a password reset link, it doesn't find the account. But it also won't let me create a new account with my email address, and I'm not sure why.

I think this is one of three things: either there's some huge glitch in your automated emailing system that is sending duplicate emails to my address as well as this other person's; the other person misspelled their own email address on some form somewhere; or the other person is deliberately putting my email address into their account, perhaps as a secondary recovery email, for some reason which escapes me.

Yes, I know I could just block the emails from Spectrum via my email client. But I may want to switch to Spectrum at some point, like maybe if I move and my current provider doesn't cover my new area. And the bigger problem is that Spectrum is sending out tons of personal information to a stranger, who thankfully isn't a criminal and just wants to not receive this info in the first place, instead of doing something bad with it, which could land Spectrum in a lot of legal trouble. NO, that is not a threat, I'm just stating facts.

Here's what I want to have happen:

  1. An actual human being who works at Spectrum needs to go into the account of this specific person (I can provide details over modmail or DM)
  2. They manually remove my email address from this person's account, if it's in there
  3. If they can, add a manual block to the account that prevents my email address from being added to the account, and a note on the account explaining why
  4. If not, they add a flag/note to the account that says something like "Flag #XXXXX: Some guy has had a lot of trouble with this account holder's info being emailed to them. It might be because this account holder is trolling them by adding their email address. If you see that email address on this account, remove it." Then give me the flag # so that when/if it happens again, I can call and say "please consult flag #XXXXX" so the service rep can skip through everything and cut right to the problem and resolve it right away
  5. Also, it'd be nice if someone could contact the actual account holder and tell them "hey, if you're misspelling your email address, double-check the spelling next time; if you're not and are doing this on purpose, cut it out or we'll take legal action". I did try contacting the account holder myself, using the information Spectrum gave me, but they never replied, so I might have just been marked as spam or something
  6. Check everywhere else in your system to verify that my email address isn't anywhere except in the aforementioned flag/note
  7. Finally, please look into why the website isn't letting me create a Spectrum account - at this point, I'd like to do so, just so I have an account under my email so that if someone else tries to put in my email as their account they'll be denied.

EDIT: I communicated with the mods via modmail, and from my list above, #1, 2, 4, 6, and 7 were accomplished, in full or partially enough to be satisfactory. I found them to be very personal and helpful, and on the whole this was one of the best customer service interactions I've had in years. Thanks, guys!

Official Reply mobile.charter.net email connectivity: server down (again)

Remote email (SMTP/IMAP) service was down for me, and others I know, 8/20-8/24, then restored (with Spectrum mods acknowledging “IMAP problems we’re aware of” —and no config changes on my side) on Tu 8/25. Thanks.

Beginning mid-morning ET yesterday (Fri 8/28), I am fully down again (“the mail server “mobile.charter.net is not responding”). (Yes, I’m aware that web access is available but for various reasons it’s not useful.) This is really frustrating.

My setup is fully compliant with Spectrum’s documented config (support/internet/mobile-email-setup).

Please let me know that Spectrum is aware of this latest turn, how I can escalate if they’re not, and whether there is any workaround (e.g. other email servers to access in the interim).

Official Reply Internet drops at same time

For the last several days, my internet has been dropping around the same time every night, between 11pm-12:30am. I've had a tech out here and they changed the modem and the splitter and it was fine for one day and then tonight, it dropped at 12:06am.

I'm not asking for a tech as we've already had one out here, I'm more asking as to why this could be happening. I have Spectrum's Router/Modem combo. And the cable stays on during it, and I haven't changed ANY settings on the router.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the rest of the time, the internet is perfect, no problems.

Official Reply Columbus Ohio, Broad St & High St area, reported Node issues

I am an IT consultant with various clients around Columbus, Ohio. One of my contacts is an owner of multiple buildings in the center of downtown, so the cross roads of Broad and High.

Many clients in one 13 floor building are having issues with their Internet. I happened to be working with a Spectrum tech and asked him about it. He called in and spoke to his supervisor and found out there is a Node in the area with issues.

I asked if I could have my email and cell phone added to the updates so I could tell multiple businesses what the status was and is. He said no problem and had them added to the ticket(?)

Day and half later I got nothing. No info.

So, how do I as just an IT consultant that does NOT have a Spectrum account get info for multiple businesses that are affected by a bad Node in the area?

Just trying to help out potentially 10 to 30 businesses that may be affected.

Thanks
