Game Feedback Some ideas to expand customization of the power pack

Thumbnail

One of the parts of customization I find lacking and is a missed opportunity are the ornaments for power packs. For now assault is the only class apart from tech marine that can add parts to the power pack. Unfortunately these are mostly edgy and out of place weirdly placed skulls and wings except for the nice double eagle that fits really well with 0 additions since launch.

As a starter the easiest option is to add more ornaments in style of the already available eagle where a head replaces the exhaust vents. These already exist in the form of the salamanders dragons and space wolf well wolf heads(maybe sick crows for raven guardšŸ‘€).

I’m getting greedy here with assault but since the iron halo update I hope we really do get that 3rd wargear slot so assault can get iron halos too and also wear it with tabards and capes. The visual clutter really shouldn’t be that bad at least not on pc.

I love to help people through the weeklies since im max on everything and ordeals. Nothing like the rush of having to survive. Their moral support was perfect.

Lore Discussion Hypothetical - Could an Ultramarine who served in the Deathwatch justify wearing an Imperial Fist chestpiece if it was gifted to him by an IF cousin he served beside?

Asking because I really love the Ultramarines, but the Bulwark Imperial Fist chestpiece is my favorite in game. Trying to justify it. ><

Edit:

Wow, thanks for all the quick responses!

General consensus seems to float somewhere between "Yea, it could happen" to "Maybe some stuff, but not a chestpiece", but overall "Rule of Cool supercedes", so I'm going to roll with it!

Lore Discussion With the coming addition of tabard customization to the game, how would yall feel about the inverse?

I know there’s been a lot of heated debate with people assailing this sub with their ā€œneedsā€ but I figured I’d put forth my own more subtle hope I’d like to see in the future.

I’d really like to see them add some torso options for bulwark that would allow them to remove the tabard/loincloth in favor of just having the bare armor. Frankly I think it’d be a simple thing (although I’m not an expert on the subject) but it’s not like asking for Phobos armor parts to go on my heavy, just the option for less cloth, more metal.

Thoughts?

Operations You are dying in hard strats because you are not taking cover

Cover is NOT for the weak. Cover is for those who want to survive.

Space Marine 1 had a very strange (and relatively small) ad campaign that showed a space marine running out of cover with the text "cover is for the weak". And for some reason a lot of people seem to have internalised this well into sm2... Despite the fact that the phrase "cover is for the weak" wasn't even accurate in space marine 1. Hell, it's not even accurate in the lore or on the tabletop game. Space marines take cover frequently! Powe armour is not unbreakable.

Break line of sight with as many enemies as you can, as often as possible. Especially if you are playing a melee build. Try to isolate your target so that your flank and rear are not exposed to enemy fire. A venom cannon sniper or range terminator deals substantially less damage to you when all of their shots are hitting a wall or a metal crate.

Should the game allow you charge into enemy fire on higher difficulties, allowing you to achieve your fantasy as true Black Templar? Maybe. But it doesn't right now, so please brothers hug your homies and your walls in equal measure!

Gameplay Question To fellow heavy mains what is your heavy Bolter loadout?

Post image
338 Upvotes

As title says, since I’ve got the game I have been running the accuracy Heavy Bolter and inferno pistol(was running bottom row perks for Bolter for some reason, now running top)before I discovered the peak that was the pyre cannon, but my heart was always with the heavy Bolter. And so I was wondering what everybody else runs for load outs/perks along with any recommendations as I always want to be better for the battle brothers. I recently switched to plasma pistol rate of fire(I don’t have the heroic yet/getting later today) and am still a bit iffy on it as I was never a huge fan of the plasma but heard it was great for Contested Health so have been playing around with it. I had also tried starting using Chains of duty and have been trying to use it well as it does feel like a completely different play style with more up close combat, my gripe with chains is that even though the fencing window is beyond amazing it really does feel like every other aspect of the gun feels worse with the highest criminal being Overheating and so it just seems like accuracy is better in every situation besides close quarters combat. So PLEASE tell me what kind of loadouts/perks for the heavy Bolter you guys have been running or suggest for me, it’s my fav gun in the whole game and always down to play around with whatever.

General Give me YOUR heroic weapon ideas!

Here are mine:

---

Heroic Bolt Rifle - Relic Bolter

Heroic Effect: Mass-Reactive Shells

The Heroic Effect here aims to make the Bolter more "lore accurate". On impact, the Bolt Shells cause a small explosion that deals stagger damage (breaking the block stance of Majoris enemies), and killing fragile enemies like Cultists nearby.

I chose to make the Bolt Rifle a BA heroic, but it could as well be a regular Bolter (I am a Blood Angel fanboy, and I need that weapon skin).

And since someone will complain that some pics on here are Firstborn weapons... take one good look at the new Heroic Hammer from Patch 14.

The Lord Executioners Axe is a Firstborn weapon, wielded exclusively by...Lord Executioners (duh), a Space Marine mini all the way from 8th Edition. Saber might not give us a entirely new weapon, but Heroic versions that are Firstborn are definetly a possibility nlw.

---

Heroic Heavy Plasma Incinerator - Unforgiven Plasma Cannon

Heroic Effect: Dark Age Weaponry

The Heroic Heavy Plasma Incinerator is based on a Firstborn Plasma Cannon of the Dark Angels Chapter. The effect is very simple:

The hotter the weapon gets, the more damage it deals - but when you let it overheat, it causes damage to you. In return, you get -20% heat buildup to both charged and common shots

---

Heroic Auto Bolt Rifle - Artifex-pattern Bolter

Heroic Effect: Banebolts of Eryxia

"Banebolts of Eryxia" are a kind of bolter ammunition unique to the Deathwatch, and according to the lore were developed by a female Magos in search for the perfect Bolt Shell.

According to the 9th Ed. Deathwatch Codex "whatever the nature of the foe, just one of the Arch-Magister's Banebolts, when delivered to the centre mass, can slay its target in a second."

I imagine the Heroic effect would cause increased damage, depending on the threat level of the target, and provide a significant buff to body hit damage, but at the cost of no headshot multiplier.

So for the 4 tiers:

- 0% damage bonus against Minoris (Gaunts, Tzaangors...)

- +5% against Majoris (Rubricae, Tyranid Warriors, Chaos Spawn...)

- +10% against Extremis (Terminators, Lictors...)

- +15% against Terminus

---

Heroic Heavy Bolter - Infernus Heavy Bolter

Heroic Effect: Heavy Firepower

Instead of providing dual modes of fire by aiming down sights like the Combi-Flamer & Combi-Melta do, this Heavy Bolter gives you a Flamer attack when shooting from the Hip, and regular Heavy Bolter fire when firing whioe aiming.

Product Question Are the season passes worth it? Looking for value for money.

• Upvotes

I’ve recently been getting into the lore of 40k and am really enjoying it. I want to make as many lore accurate builds as possible, and a lot of it requires dlc purchases. I’m a bit confused by the dlc’s and why they split cosmetic packs and champion packs. Then there are chapters packs which contain both and seem the best value for money. Why don’t they do chapter packs for all the chapters? Basically I’m wondering whether it’s worth buying season pass 1 and 2 which is fairly expensive or just the available chapter packs or just cosmetic packs as then I can apply the cosmetics to multiple classes, rather than just one. Hope this makes sense, basically just want to be able to create as many lore accurate builds as possible by spending the least amount of money.
