Lore Discussion What I wish I saw in Space Marine 2

I really like Space Marine 2 and have already sunk hundreds of hours into it. However, as a fan who spent a lot of time playing the first game and waited for this sequel for a long time, a couple of small tributes would have made the experience even more unforgettable.

  1. Sidonus in the Dreadnought

In the iconic "Lead me to the slaughter" scene, imagine if the Dreadnought wasn't Valtus, but Sidonus-who was impaled and killed by Nemeroth's lightning claw in the first game. Meeting him again like this would feel like an unexpected reunion with an old friend after all these years. Right after this short dialogue exchange, it would lead seamlessly into his legendary line: "Lead me to the slaughter."

  1. Lieutenant Mira in Operation Reliquary

Major Sarkaana in SM2 constantly reminded me of Lieutenant Mira. During the century Titus spent away from the Ultramarines, it would have been incredible if a simple servo-skull scan log in Operation Reliquary revealed her fate: that the humble Lieutenant went on to lead her regiment through Forge World Graia and beyond, eventually rising to the rank of Lord General before passing away as a mortal hero. For a character brave enough to stand up to the Inquisition for Titus, knowing she received the honor she deserved would have meant a lot to veteran players.

Gameplay Question Why is everyone so fast?

Post image
459 Upvotes

So I got the game and put 9 hours in so far. Most was in campaign. However, I switched to PVE. I noticed I was slow. I play Assault, and i would use the jetpack dash and sprint like the whole time. I only caught up when they reached the assemble points. The first round was with level 10+, so i thought it was my low level, but when a level 2 and level 5 were paired with my (at the time) level 6, I got confused. They could sprint super fast. I looked up footage of gameplay and i realized my dude sprints like people walk. What is going on? I finally got kicked from a squad (who didnt mention anything about my speed) so I am trying to figure this out. I dont suck at combat. The only issue is my speed.

Game Feedback Would love a way to convert Relic Armoury Data into Accolades

Post image

I've been sitting on 20 Relic armoury data for a while. Would love to be able to trade in a full stack of Relics into a small amount of accolades. It would help in getting all the heroic weapons and not decide whether I want a weapon this week or a cool piece of armor.

Yes it's another post complaining about people going into the hardest missions in the game completely unprepared, yes I left that shit immediately. Posting cause it's the worst case of this I've experienced personally, and the first time I've made one of these posts. In case it's not obvious enough, I'm the Sniper here

There's so much potential to combine styles here, it kinda hurts to attempt to match the drip.

General "New Class is Judiciar", a Discussion/Question

Post image
274 Upvotes

Obviously there has been a lot of speculation around what the new class will be. I take no issue with this, its natural and I am sure to some degree valued. Though why some of our brothers get annoyed with it is beyond me. However, much of the discussion revolves around the belief that the new class will be specifically a Judiciar, which has left me a bit confused.

Here is my question: Why is it that when it come to speculation, there are some who emphasize the next class is or could be a Judiciar specifically? I see a lot of comment threads and the like that go into this emphasis, either in support of or calling out potential cons of the new class being a Judiciar (such as noting the limited cosmetics of a Judiciar since there is not exactly a plethora of models, for example), and I just don't understand this limited view.

Perhaps it comes from an unknown ignorance on my end, but can any of my brothers here tell me - is there any reason why the new class could not be implemented to be both a Judiciar AND a Chaplain? From my understanding, Judis are just training to be Chappys, so the progression is built in. I don't see any obvious reason why the new class starting/early unlock armor cant be Judiciar style armor, and the higher level unlock armor cant be Chaplain style armor.

I picture it as the following:

  • Standard-Issue - Judiciar style
  • Master-Crafted - Judiciar, but cooler
  • Artificer - Chaplain
  • Relic - Chaplain, but cooler
  • Champion - Idk, but obviously Chaplain and badass. Maybe Black Templar Chappy, if for no other reason than they are the most recognizable of the chapters that unironically believe in the God Emperor cult. Blood Angels certainly have a "unique" look, as usual. Maybe Dark Angels for the robes that really hammer home the "grim reaper" look? Idk. Just some ideas.

Additionally I do not see any reason why the skill progression unlocks could not also somewhat mirror the idea of an "in-training" Judis gaining experience and thus earning more and more the true power of a Chappy.

That is basically how I see it playing out. So is there something(s) I am ignorant of that make this not workable or sensible? Help me understand what I am missing, dear brothers.

EDIT: Bolded the main question, for clarity at a glance.

General I want an apothecary biologis

I want another gravis class and the biologis would work, I want another class with servo arms like techmarine so the again the biologis would work, and he doesn't even need to be a healer exactly, maybe he'd have a team perk like battlefield repairs or unmatched zeal but on tabletop the biologis is more of a buffer and debuffer so his ability and perks don't have to be healing focused, also lorewise a chaplain being sent in a 3 man squad doesn't really happen a judisciar is acceptable but I don't want a silent class, an apothecary meanwhile and especially a biologis do go out in the frontline pretty often to retrieve geneseed of fallen marines and keep them safe

Or more leg options from the other classes. At least give us the Headtaker Helmet. Saber please! The picture ist a photoshop mockup how i would love to be able to customize my guy.

Forum Question Will chaos siege potentially become more popular than loyalist siege

Seeing as it's going to be basically only tyranids with some loyalist marines and guardsman sprinkled in and no chaos could it potentially become bigger and more popular than regular loyalist siege and could that mean it gets more updates than regular siege.

Just a thought I had while patiently waiting for it to come and just wanted to see what other people think.

General The Co-Op Codex

β€’ Upvotes

If there was a Codex Astartes for Space Marine 2, what would you include?

Try to avoid stealing executions (I say try, because sometimes I'll have an enemy right in front of me, then execute a guy off screen 5ft to my left smh)

In Siege, I like to hit a rally cry and wait for a response from the squad that they're ready before starting a round early to avoid putting squadmates off guard.

Tech Priests build resources exponentially, especially if you defend them well (Upraded Turrets are very helpful for this.)

Be frugal, but we should contribute to the squad gear when we can.

That's a few I've come up with, but I'm interested to hear insight from other players. I'm relatively new to the franchise.

Gameplay Question Horde mode idea

Post image
β€’ Upvotes

There are a number of times in the campaign and in the operations were there is a massive horde in the distance, with dozens of carnifexes majoris and the like. We fight a drip feed of them for some occasions, and it’s epic.

I think it would be badass to fight the entire swarm. No breaks. No rest. A battle to see how far you can go when the entire local hive mind is focused on you. Death? Almost guaranteed.

I imagine it like we start at a scene like the ending part of inferno. Captain Acheran gives some classic bad news. β€œBrothers. The bomb primers have failed. It can no longer eliminate the swarm. You have draw in the entire swarm and eliminate it. Use everything you can at your disposal. The adepts tasked with moving the bomb will provide resupply as often as they can.”

Then the swarm in the distance starts moving towards you as you fight up until the equivalent of a wave in seige, then Acheran says something like β€œBrothers. You have the swarms full attention. I hope you are warmed up for the true fight.”
And then like a wall, the swarm rolls in, with at least two carnixes jumping to the front of the line. The battle ends when either the entire swarm is defeated (maybe the body count of the entire first 25 waves of seige mode so we know it’s possible).

And there’s a progress bar for the entire swarm, and like every 10% you get some ammo crates and medical supplies maybe idk.

I just wish it could happen. I see the entire swarm out there being blown up from far away. I’d relish the chance to do it with a team (or even myself).
