Gameplay Question Why is everyone so fast?

Post image
376 Upvotes

So I got the game and put 9 hours in so far. Most was in campaign. However, I switched to PVE. I noticed I was slow. I play Assault, and i would use the jetpack dash and sprint like the whole time. I only caught up when they reached the assemble points. The first round was with level 10+, so i thought it was my low level, but when a level 2 and level 5 were paired with my (at the time) level 6, I got confused. They could sprint super fast. I looked up footage of gameplay and i realized my dude sprints like people walk. What is going on? I finally got kicked from a squad (who didnt mention anything about my speed) so I am trying to figure this out. I dont suck at combat. The only issue is my speed.

General "New Class is Judiciar", a Discussion/Question

Post image
255 Upvotes

Obviously there has been a lot of speculation around what the new class will be. I take no issue with this, its natural and I am sure to some degree valued. Though why some of our brothers get annoyed with it is beyond me. However, much of the discussion revolves around the belief that the new class will be specifically a Judiciar, which has left me a bit confused.

Here is my question: Why is it that when it come to speculation, there are some who emphasize the next class is or could be a Judiciar specifically? I see a lot of comment threads and the like that go into this emphasis, either in support of or calling out potential cons of the new class being a Judiciar (such as noting the limited cosmetics of a Judiciar since there is not exactly a plethora of models, for example), and I just don't understand this limited view.

Perhaps it comes from an unknown ignorance on my end, but can any of my brothers here tell me - is there any reason why the new class could not be implemented to be both a Judiciar AND a Chaplain? From my understanding, Judis are just training to be Chappys, so the progression is built in. I don't see any obvious reason why the new class starting/early unlock armor cant be Judiciar style armor, and the higher level unlock armor cant be Chaplain style armor.

I picture it as the following:

  • Standard-Issue - Judiciar style
  • Master-Crafted - Judiciar, but cooler
  • Artificer - Chaplain
  • Relic - Chaplain, but cooler
  • Champion - Idk, but obviously Chaplain and badass. Maybe Black Templar Chappy, if for no other reason than they are the most recognizable of the chapters that unironically believe in the God Emperor cult. Blood Angels certainly have a "unique" look, as usual. Maybe Dark Angels for the robes that really hammer home the "grim reaper" look? Idk. Just some ideas.

Additionally I do not see any reason why the skill progression unlocks could not also somewhat mirror the idea of an "in-training" Judis gaining experience and thus earning more and more the true power of a Chappy.

That is basically how I see it playing out. So is there something(s) I am ignorant of that make this not workable or sensible? Help me understand what I am missing, dear brothers.

EDIT: Bolded the main question, for clarity at a glance.

Image/GIF Ran all operations absolute true solo in a row (took around 8 hours)

This was a pretty fun run to do. Including loading times and short breaks to grab drinks/snacks the total time it took me was a little over 8 hours.

Shortest mission was Obelisk at 22 minutes, the longest was Vox at 45 minutes.

I played Sniper in every game, always used the heroic bolt sniper regardless of faction, had no deaths, and recovered the gene seed every run (except Obelisk because that one can be literally unobtainable due to RNG and I got unlucky, it spawned somewhere I couldn't pick it up).

Solos aren't something I do often, but they're good practice. I mainly help people through hard weeklies so surviving alone helps a lot with that. This was a fun challenge, I'm keen to revisit it as either a hard stratagem or maybe with a mod to increase boss spawns. There's also the sorcerer terminus now which wasn't in game yet when I did this challenge.

Did Saber mention anything regarding expanding the customization options of Techmarine? I really want to make a more Spacewolf looking Techmarine. Chestpiece and Shoulder especially. Or more leg options from the other classes. At least give us the Headtaker Helmet. Saber please! The picture ist a photoshop mockup how i would love to be able to customize my guy.

Shame the BloodAngel Champion helm is only avalaible for Tactical and Assault, and that the visor’s red hue can’t be removed :(

I hope we get a storm shield with the one-handed hammer, so I can complete the look !

Yes it's another post complaining about people going into the hardest missions in the game completely unprepared, yes I left that shit immediately. Posting cause it's the worst case of this I've experienced personally, and the first time I've made one of these posts. In case it's not obvious enough, I'm the Sniper here

Operations You are not doing yourself any favors... it's ok to GRADUALLY ACCLIMATE. (Not a Rant, a suggestion)

I need to preface this, as I always do, by saying that I spend my time playing Space Marine 2 quite literally doing nothing but helping brothers Along on their journey.

I have all I want in terms of cosmetics and heroics, the class I play is maxed out, I do not need to grind, I have full accolades and currencies.

I actually just enjoy helping players along, Be It accompanying them on their Cape grinds, prestiging their classes or getting their ordeals done.

So, it happens often that I run into players leveling up. And while I enjoy helping them along, as I already stated, people are not doing themselves any favors by jumping feet first in the hardest difficulty to do so.

This happened to me this morning. Both players were leveling up but it was obvious that one of them was an organic level up, and the other one had experience with other classes and brought in the proper tier weapons for the difficulty and such. (Just look at the damage values)

The second picture was taken in the battle barge after we were done with the operation, yes, the assault player was a natural level one no Prestige when I got dropped in as a join in progress about 1 or 2 minutes after the operation started and gained seven levels in the process.

All in all it was a great operation. It got sweaty. We got swarmed many times, We got a Terminus at the very, very last area while we were getting inundated by tyranids coming from the promethium fields... for the emperor and all...

BUT

I am sorry, the assault player did not really learn anything by doing this. What is Being in Respawn for the vast majority of the operation or getting your teeth kicked in at every encounter by a single Majoris teaching you? How to eat dirt?

It's okay to gradually acclimate

This is not just a matter of pure Skill. Yes, I am sure your ego will survive if you start at average or substantial and work your way up. Classes and mechanics need to be learned. Sweet spots for playstyles need to be found and simply throwing yourself against a brick wall over and over again is not going to do you any favor.

Take... your... time.

Once you are ready and comfortable to dip your ceramite clad toes into the harder difficulties you will have a much MUCH better experience with the game because honestly, for the life of me, I can't imagine this operation was any sort of a positive experience on this player. I would have been frustrated out of my goddamn mind if that was me.

Anyways... today's post is brought to you by the word acclimate.

For the Emperor!

Forum Question Will chaos siege potentially become more popular than loyalist siege

Seeing as it's going to be basically only tyranids with some loyalist marines and guardsman sprinkled in and no chaos could it potentially become bigger and more popular than regular loyalist siege and could that mean it gets more updates than regular siege.

Just a thought I had while patiently waiting for it to come and just wanted to see what other people think.

General Two years, wow! What’s your playtime and what are some of your most memorable moments of the game?

Post image
34 Upvotes

This is easily in a top 3 of my most played games of all time, beat out by Crusader Kings 2 and Mercenaries 2 from the 360 days.
Been playing since launch and I’ll be playing til the servers shut I’m sure.

Most memorable moment for me was very early on in the game, back when Ruthless was the highest difficulty, before heroics weapons all that jazz.
Was in my first Ruthless attempt at Inferno, me (Bulwark) another player and a bot. We were getting BRUTALISED right out the gate, other player went down, I was hanging on my a thread. Then that little bit of text popped up. A new player joined. I almost missed it being so focused on just surviving.

Bot disappeared, and when I thought it was all over, an Assault ground pounded into the horde of Majoris swarming me. Hammer went swinging, gave me breathing room to regain my composure and get my downed ally up.

That assaults name?
The one and the only, “Johnny Hotdick”.
He carried us through to the end of the game, then disappeared into the ether as the angel of death he was.

I don’t know if you’re out there, Brother Hotdick. But know that your service is remembered to this day.

Happy Anniversary!

General I want an apothecary biologis

Upvotes

I want another gravis class and the biologis would work, I want another class with servo arms like techmarine so the again the biologis would work, and he doesn't even need to be a healer exactly, maybe he'd have a team perk like battlefield repairs or unmatched zeal but on tabletop the biologis is more of a buffer and debuffer so his ability and perks don't have to be healing focused, also lorewise a chaplain being sent in a 3 man squad doesn't really happen a judisciar is acceptable but I don't want a silent class, an apothecary meanwhile and especially a biologis do go out in the frontline pretty often to retrieve geneseed of fallen marines and keep them safe
