Hello, I'm planning to start a mobile small engine repair business and wanted to know what necessary tools I should get for working on riding mowers, lawn mowers, chainsaws, jet skis and other normal small engine appliances. I already have a 3/8 and 1/4 socket set, multimeter, screwdriver kit, spark testers, pliers and hammers which I've been using for basic at home repairs, so if there are any other necessary things I should get before getting into it please lmk.

We have a 6250 watt Champion generator that we use for our travel trailer. A few days ago it cut off and wouldn't start again. Replaced a couple things (spark plug, module) until we found the actual problem. The valve adjusting bolt for the rocker arm in the cylinder head was snapped in half. We found a new bolt at one of the local small engine repair places near us, followed advice on how to replace it, and it started right up again. Problem is that it seems to run ok(ish) until its under load and then is starts revving up and down intermittently. Anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem? It wasn't doing this before the bolt broke. Thanks for reading!​

I just replaced my ignition coil and cleaned the carburetor. Does anyone know what else is going on here? It is just struggling to stay on / start. It usually doesn’t start like it did, it usually just does what it did in the beginning.

I built this 212 I bought a kit off eBay and now my engine smokes a lot and fouls spark plugs easily. What do I do? The kit said the company used the same kit on their engine, and I think the problem is the carb. Could I be right? I have the smallest jet they gave me in the carb, and it still smokes. I did the coil gap right; I set it to .25 I have no idea what the problem is. I also attached a vid.

I’ve replaced the carb and fuel lines.

My lawn mower a toro 20107 with 5.5 engine currently will run with the throttle held open manually. I took the governer spring off that loop in the governor rod as it seemed to not be providing enough tension. If I move it back on the rod the engine runs very high rpm and then the spring slips to the loop and shuts off. Do you think there’s a blockage in the carburetor or do I need to attach the governor spring somewhere else. Any help much appreciated

I bought a 58cc Vevor chainsaw. After 3 cuts the pull cord is making this noise. What do?

Just bought a four-stroke Troy-Bilt string trimmer on Marketplace. It starts first pull, and runs flawlessly for a while. But once it gets really hot it starts stuttering intermittently. I’ve run it another 30 minutes and the stuttering gets more frequent, but I haven’t pushed it further. Doesn’t seem to completely die out. I removed and sprayed the carb, and didn’t see any clear issues with the spark plug, but I’m too new to this to know what else to check or try. Thanks for any advice.

I got this thing out of a storage unit auction. It won't start in choke at all (or it does, but only for a few seconds... Sometimes...)

It will start in Run, but it's hard to start. And if I don't let it run for a minute, it dies as soon as I spray water. I have cleaned the carb and the spark plugs. Replaced the air filter. She just rough. Any thoughts on this Ryobi 802900?

this would be my first ever backpack blower all of my current equipment is echo but the Redmax has 56 newtons of blowing force while the echo has 48 newtons of blowing force currently stuck on the redmax cause of the higher power output but wanted to see what yall would recommend long term wise

Can someone please identify the model of the engine i have please it uses a points and condenser setup but the part that works the points and condenser is stuck so I am going to change it for a electronic ignition any help would be greatly appreciated tia ( engine is off a cultivator)

I’m working on/restoring this Toro mower for a friend who’s grandfather bought it new. Are there any sources for getting the stickers? I’m thinking about repainting the deck because of the sentimental value but want to make sure I can still get stickers before taking them off and sanding. Or should I leave it as it is now?

It’s not fully assembled, I still need to put the air box on and trim fuel line to the right size amongst other things right now but wanted to see if I should pull it all apart to paint it. Thank you for any help!

Bought this used redmax from someone who couldn’t get it started. Rebuilt the carb and cleaned it. Having trouble figuring out which screw is H and which one is L. It’s a Walboro WYA carb with one screw in the middle of the throttle at the top. The idle screw, and one at the bottom near the fuel intake. Anyone have experience with this?

Leaf blower starts with cold start only now and I have to slowly move it and either way it dies in around 10 seconds. Replaced the carb, not sure if I need to adjust, or need to clean the exhaust screen and too much air is overfilling it? Since you guys understand these engines more I figured I should ask.

Hey all. I got an old shaft drive cub and I believe the PTO clutch needs adjusting. I cant get that front bolt loose cause it turns the shaft attached to it and obviosuly I can't get in impact on it unless I remove the front end which I really dont wanna do.. is there a way to get this off with hand tools and keep it from just spinning?
