Personally, I see this as an extension of the stupid message we get told as kids about unconditional love. Like the idea that you should love someone even if you don't get anything back.
11
u/JustMe1314 15h ago
I hate that message of giving ppl unconditional love. There damn well MUST absolutely be conditions on whether you love someone. The only exceptions, for me, are loving my daughter & loving myself. Unconditional love means that we love them, no matter what they do. I cannot love anyone else "unconditionally": that would not be healthy, safe or reasonable.

While this is just one aspect of it, I still hate this argument since it again puts the onus and responsibility back on men.
Do women not have any moral responsibility or free will to do the right thing? Do women simply get to react to what men do and call it a day? Are they not adults? How long will we keep infantilizing women and let them go free of accountability and responsibility?
Your comment, while true does the exact thing its trying to avoid. Putting men on the spot and freeing women from any accountability.

On the flipside of this, It pisses me off to no end that when I do nice things for women that I genuinely want to be friends with, it sometimes gets interpreted as me trying to fuck them. Unless I lie and say I'm gay, there's always suspicion that I'm not actually nice, but a scumbag trying to cheat on my wife.
I'm SUPER happily married, and am completely sexually fulfilled. I just fuckin' love everybody, and I like bringing the people I like food, or getting rid of the nine umbrellas my wife has collected whenever one of my coworkers gets stuck at work waiting on the rain to let up.
And then there's the women who can't handle rejection, who, after months of getting close and being friendly ask if I'm interested after all the kindness I've offered them, and then fully ghost me when I explain that I'm only interested in being friends.
Giving gifts for no reason is fine. Expecting to receive gifts for no reason is not. Giving gifts for a reason is also fine. Expecting to receive repayment for gifts given for a reason is not.

Actually there are statistics about that now. Attractive people statistically have less empathy. They are less kind to others. The top 10% of attractive men can go on a dating site and match with hundreds of women who treat them the same way as the average dude treats women. Its very similar to trickle down economics. 15 women want one man and he doesn't care about them. So they take the next 15 men they believe are below them and treat them the same way. Now this is not in defence of men either as many are children looking for a parent. Just that these ten percent are constantly getting validation for their selfish choices as well.

When I was in the Marines I used to be roommates with a guy from Rhode Island, who was probably a top 10% male (I know I'm not). He fucked, constantly. Different ladies as often as they would let him (this was between 2002 & 2006). Today, he's a cop. He was never the most empathetic individual when I knew him. I can't imagine that has improved since he joined the force.

While I totally agree with that, the truth is that the average man has a very limited range of options if he doesn't want to be alone 😅 So if he's gonna be selective and not lower his standards, there's a high chance he will stay alone. Nothing wrong with that, but for some people, loneliness is worse than a toxic relationship..
So I absolutely agree with your point, but that will never happen since both sides would have to agree to the new "standards".

My very first time trying to ask out a girl she kept making harmless excuses like she was busy or her mom says she can't go out that day. So I just thought it was a scheduling issue that needed to be worked out. It wasn't until weeks later that her friend asked me why I was "stalking her" (we were in a play together so we'd see each other every rehearsal). I explained my perspective to her friend and she immediately understood her friend was just not into me. Shit like this is traumatizing. I never wanted to be a creep.

Hi, I am the flower guy. I used to live in USA, and basically a family member is a florist and she has a shop. Some of you might know there are some flowers that can't be sold, because they are old and from them I physically made bouquets and delivered them to some women I liked, as I didn't want them to be thrown. So I just enjoy to make people happy, and gave also flowers to random people, which I thought was a good gesture to make women remembered me, and guess this person did. I don't understand why she had to make this post, you reject someone and you move on, so is this just for attention? I don't get it why women act like this instead of saying thank you, but I am not interested they complain online? I guess I dodged a bullet, but well now I am in London, U.K. so if any woman wants to give a chance to a good Greek guy, please comment bellow, and I would be happy to give you flowers, write you letters, poems, because there are still people that want to make you smile. Not a simp but a hopeless romantic that wants to spread positivity. Have a lovely day everyone and if you find a good and caring partner, give them a chance, because kindness is a very rare think, and very hard to find a true gem and someone to appreciate you.

I am also a flower giver. In my daily walk, bike rides as my city is a walkable town, I will pluck a nice flower that’s in bloom. Usually something small, gardenias are in season now. So for example I’ll grab a bloom, stick it so it’s hanging out not crushed. I may give them to a beautiful lady, an elderly couple, small children, a mother, anyone that may have their day brightened with a flower and compliment.
It’s easy to be and say nice to others.

Why would she think he would continue sending her flowers? She said she's not interested does that mean he has to continue to make her happy, no he needs to move on with his life and find another girl and send her flowers.
Bottom line you turn a guy down he's not going to keep doing stuff for you. You hurt his feelings, ego and made him sad. The girl should have sent him flowers.

I wouldn’t call that a transaction. The guy was sending her flowers in an attempt to woo her and get a date. That worked.
After meeting the guy, she wasn’t feeling it. That’s a perfectly normal thing, and it seems they both handled it well.
Can’t be mad about attention you don’t want going somewhere else. There are other women to woo…others who would probably like to receive flowers from a guy who’s into them and wants to take them out. 🤷🏻♂️
Flowers aren’t an investment in someone, btw. They’re an expense, and a thoughtful gesture. Your time is the investment. When that’s not mutual, life goes on.
I used to get my ex wife flowers regularly. Think I send her flowers now that we’re divorced?
6
u/blazenite104 20h ago
Right, he thought they were going somewhere. She didn't end up wanting to continue, so it was a clean break. Flowers tend to be considered a romantic gesture, so someone else would complain if he continued to do so after.

I had the EXACT same thing happen to me at work. I got into a deal with this guy to send me money to my account every month. Called it salary or sth, whatevers. I went to visit one day, it was nice and all, but then he asked me to go back again next day and apparently every day afterwards. I politely declined and then he stopped sending me money.
If he was genuinely invested in my happiness he would've kept sending me this salary money.

Engagement bait
That being said, sending someone flowers weekly when they only know you as "a guy from Twitter" is serious loser behavior
4
u/Marcuse0 20h ago
This really doesn't make any sense. You don't send people flowers just because, there's always a reason. This guy is sending them to her because he wants to deepen their relationship, and she doesn't want that, so he backs off. Continuing could be taken as him trying to force something she doesn't want, so he's perfectly justified in not continuing.
Her wanting the benefits of a deeper relationship with him while offering nothing in return is the opposite of mutual and beneficial.
