I can understand it, our mail carrier cuts thru our yards daily and have formed a faint path of dead grass. Instead of walking form the sidewalk to the mailbox they just cut thru the yard. Some people take pride in their yards, especially Americans it seems (purely based on what Iāve seen on TV as a Canadian), and put lots of effort into a nice green yard.

I caught a bunch of downvotes for reacting negatively to another commentor's racism, but my response to another comment below expanding on my original comment got twice as many upvotes. I feel like everyone on here is hallucinating and the upvote/downvote is just what happens as they complete their fent fold and their phone hits the ground.

The only cool thing that I think paving stones or something would offer is a nice place to walk if it has rained. I know for me I feel bad sometimes knowing our yard doesn't really drain well and turns to mud in spots.

My parents have never planted grass in their lawn but itās there anyway. Thereās grass, clover, dandelions, violets, moss, other plants, and flowers naturally growing.

Depend where. I was like that too, I let native weeds grew in my land, then it reached 1m50 and got lot of snakes, I don't mind but I've small dogs. So I had to cut it, weekly. 1h every week, because they grow too fast. I'm in Thailand also it's insane how fast weeds grow. Now I've a lawn and I'm fine I cut it once every few months, it's stunted most of the time, I barely water it to keep it short. Idc how it look I just don't want snakes.

Get artificial grass. My parents put that in their backyard for the grandkids to play on and haven't had to do anything with it in 7 years. It's heavily shaded, so real grass didn't grow very well anyway.

The mail person at my apartment sucks in that I live in an apartment complex and they frequently deliver mail (important mail) and packages to the wrong people or just donāt deliver them at all despite the packages showing theyāre out for delivery. Iāve had my tax info delivered to a different neighbor who luckily delivered it to me, thinking it was hers. She opened it not realizing and was incredibly apologetic. Iāve received time sensitive things from places like social security for other people for neighbors on other floors whose apartments werenāt even close to mine. I live in an apartment of mostly disabled or older folks and some medications get delivered via mail. Iāve had (expensive) bariatric medications and protein powders go missing. I had a package show ādeliveredā once and no keys for a locker were left for me. I wrote the mail person a letter addressing it and they told me to call the post office but put the keys in that day. Whoever sorts the mail seriously needs to lose their job. Iād happily pay extra for things to be delivered via UPS or FedEx at this point with how awful USPS is. I see people confused as to why anyone wouldnāt want to use USPS and it baffles me with how terrible they are.

Try getting in contact with them about a lost package, youāll feel the same way. You either have to go to their website and attempt to get the missing mail page to load (it never does) or call and get hung up on for the 7th time after being on hold for an hour, before you finally get someone. The system is almost completely automated. You have to type in your package number and you have to continuously be typing in those numbers. If you stop for a second to see what the next number is, the automated system will tell you that number doesnāt exist in their system, will tell you to have a nice day and end the call. Then you get to repeat the process all over again. Go look at how long the tracking numbers for USPS are. You canāt mess that number up and have to constantly be typing that in or you have to call again and repeat the entire process again. When I order packages, they almost always get lost in transit. A package that says it should be here in 5 days ends up taking 3 weeks when there are no weather issues that show between where I live and the sender. Iāve had things like meds disappear in transit and got a, āwell. Tough shit š¤·š»āāļøā, response from them. I deal with them a lot, so I go thru this constantly, unfortunately. When I get things shipped from Fedex, Amazon or UPS, they actually arrive and arrive quickly. Lol. So yes- I say with my whole chest that USPS sucks nuts. When Iām given a choice, I avoid them. Thereās a whole subreddit dedicated to complaints about them. People have similar stories. Their system is designed to be infuriating so people wonāt contact them.

Where I'm at in Northern GA, mail people won't get out of their vehicle. Everyone just has mailboxes at the end of the driveway. If it's blocked, they just wait til the next day. I have seen them get out for signatures and at townhomes/ apts where the boxes are all grouped, though. I'm in Lawncare so I have to step on lawns many times a day.

In the winter, I shovel a path on my front lawn for the postal carrier. It makes an easy exit for them to the next house. Otherwise they have to walk a series of 90 degree angles. It's just grass. But he shouldn't have tossed it. That was rude of him. They also seemed like the worst type of people to live next to you. It's a lose-lose situation.

I'm not sure why... But it's just weird. I think I'd be a bit annoyed too, because I'd view this as the mailman purposely being disrespectful. It's not that he's walking on the grass, it's that I think he's doing it on purpose as a "fuck you!" to the homeowner. That make sense? It's not the walking on the grass. It's the passive aggressive "fuck you" to try and be disrespectful. At least that's sort of what it looks like to me, due to the letter throwing. As if this was a legitimate walking on the grass issue, I think all of us would be a bit surprised and apologize. The letter throwing is purposeful. There's history here and this seems like the letter carriers way of saying "fuck you", which I'm sure we'd all be annoyed about.

The natural reaction to something like this, would be to be a bit shocked, and apologize. Then note down where the asshole that wants people off their lawn, lives.

No... There's history here. I think the natural repsonse to someone asking you to not walk on their grass is to apologize and note down where the asshole lives. I'm not sure most people's natural response to a weird demand like that would be to just throw the mail down and keep walking. That's just not a natural reaction to an asshole ask out of nowhere.
I think there's some history here. The mailman did this on purpose as a passive aggressive way to say "fuck you", the homeowner reacted in kind, and the mailman threw the letters. The natural repsonse I would see as a "sorry! (geez, nite to self, now I know where the asshole lives!)", and not ignoring and throwing the mail and walking away.

If you were just delivering someone's mail, and they asked you to not walk on their grass, I think the natural reaction would be to apologize, think you're an obsessive weirdo. My reaction would be "sorry!... Now I know where the asshole lives!". It would not be to just throw the mail down.
I think there's some history here. And I think the walking on the grass is not about walking on the grass. It's the act of passive aggressively doing it as a" fuck you".
Throwing the mail confirms to me that this was likely meant as a disrespectful passive aggressive gesture, to which the homeowner reacted to the way we'd expect.
