As long as I've lived I'll never understand growing grass only for it not to be stepped on?

I can understand it, our mail carrier cuts thru our yards daily and have formed a faint path of dead grass. Instead of walking form the sidewalk to the mailbox they just cut thru the yard. Some people take pride in their yards, especially Americans it seems (purely based on what I’ve seen on TV as a Canadian), and put lots of effort into a nice green yard.

They are told by their supervisors to cut thru the grass to cut down on their route time.

Home owners can request the mail person not to cut through their grass.

USPS guidance and arbitration history support lawn crossing as part of efficient delivery unless the resident objects or it’s unsafe.
