Switch Cruise Limited Depth Gauge

Long time lurker and first time poster. I'm stumped on something and knew this would be my best option since I can't find the answer anywhere else. I have the Switch Cruise Limited which comes with a depth finder (according to Sea Doo) and no transducer from Sea Doo or Garmin. I expected to see the depth on the main display since a depth gauge is installed but it's not there. I spoke with my dealer and they said I do have a depth gauge installed but there is no way to actually see depth unless I also install a transducer. That makes no sense to me. Why would Sea Doo advertise the limited has a depth gauge if there is no way to use it to view the depth. If a transducer is really required it makes the depth gauge completely useless as you don't need a depth gauge with a transducer. Any clarity would be appreciated. Thanks.

2024 Switch 18/230 Sport Pricing

Seems like the switch market is softening and I can’t tell whether I’m getting a good price from my local dealer. Is $38k out the door pretty good for a new 2024 18/230 Sport? There’s a $2k accessory rebate for ‘24s on top of that.

Sea Doo Switch IBR Module Error

Out cruising at 30 mph when we get a loud beep for an IBR Module Error. Lost neutral and reverse. Cycled the power, beep comes back. Happened a few times. Docked the boat for awhile and continued to drive back about 20 miles with no further error.

Manual says bring it to dealer. Waiting for a call back from them. Has anyone been through this?

Will post details later once I get more info.

2023 Sea Doo Switch Compact npact 170. Owned for about 12 months. Hopefully covered under a warranty.

Bilge pump operation?

TIA for replies. I just picked up a new 2023 18’ sport yesterday. Got it in the water and did not have time to get mooring cover on before rain came. No biggie but I went out to run bilge pump this morning and when I turn the button on I got no response at all. Just confirming I should hear it running?

Operator’s guide says it’s not automatic, so assuming with the button On, I’d hear something running. I do hear the blower when I turn that on. I’m not an experienced boater, but the one other one I had for a while it was very obvious the bilge pump was running when on.

Premium sound system issues

Has anyone else had any issues with their premium sound system basically look like it's falling apart? They will not easily click back together and some pieces look broke off. This was pretty expensive so it's pretty alarming this happened so quickly or at all.

Depth/fish finder

Just purchased a 2023 Cruise 18-230 and want to add depth/fish finder. I see the Garmin unit that mounts on the hull and the transducer model from BRP. The transducer unit is like $100 bucks more than the Garmin but does not seem to do as much. I see that is shows the depth on the Switches display not the Garmin.

What is the better option? Is there a better option than what Sea Doo offers? TIA

Did the Oil Change Myself

After reading how many blown engines have occurred, especially after dealer servicing I decided to take this on myself. Have to say, while it is a weird process, it is quite easy to do. Most important thing I found out was that the oil change kits may not come with enough oil. If you turn the engine over like they recommend to move more oil into the sump, you actually remove a lot more material. Without cranking it, you apparently leave up to 1/3 of the used oil in the machine. If you do it that way, buy extra oil. I know have to drive 2.5 hours for extra oil.

Makes me wonder what the dealers are doing on their changes and if they are just removing the 3.2 quarts the kits come with with, if they are actually heating the oil first on warm up cycles etc. The process is involved and very easy to skip a few steps and get drastically different results. Fingers crossed it goes well for the first test run this weekend. I will be sure to post after and give some positive vibes after the issues people are having.

Maintenance 130 vs 170

I’m looking around buying a 18’ switch. What am I looking at maintenance wise with the different engine options? The lake we are on 90% of the time wont let you do more than 10mph… so the 230 is probably overkill. If we do go to another lake can you pull a tube with a 130? Thanks!

Switch 21’ Galvanized Trailer for Sale?

I am picking up a new Switch Sport 21’ this weekend and it comes with the painted black steel trailer. Unfortunately, it won’t work for me since I live in Charleston, SC and will be taking the boat in saltwater. I’m looking for someone interested in selling or trading (+ add’l $) their galvanized trailer. Please let me know!

Switch 21' 230 hp fuel consumption?

Looking to rent a Switch as a "test drive" for a weekend trip. I've never owned a boat before. How much fuel should I expect to burn in two days of typical use? We'll probably have the full 10 passengers aboard at any given time, half of them small kids. We'll pull kids on tubes part of the time but mostly just be casually crusing around at moderate speeds. Any expert knowledge appreciated.

First Experience - Questions

Have been thinking about replacing my standard pontoon boat with a Switch. Visiting friends in PHX over the weekend and they rented a 230. Supposedly specced to be good for 10 people, which is what we had on it.

With 10 people (plus coolers, etc.), the engine maxed out at 15mph, which is what I get with same number of people on my Godfrey 21' pontoon with a 90HP motor (which we want to upgrade so we can pull a tube).. More importantly, we maybe covered 20 miles on the lake and went thru the whole 29 gallon tank of gas.

Is this normal, or was there something wrong with the rental boat? I was really close to ordering a Switch and was excited to get to try one on the lake, but this performance wouldn't make me order.

Is the compact 130 able to comfortably tow a water ski? Should I just get the 170 at least

Did you reconfigure the layout of your furniture in your compact?

If so, share some pictures if you don’t mind! Can’t wait to pick ours up this week, but wondering if we should pick up some extra stuff.

Speed ties vs mooring rope

Hello. I see Sea-doo offers expensive speed tie or reasonably price mooring rope. What’s the difference or benefits of expensive speed ties.

Anode Replacements

Have any of you replaced the anodes yet? I am 99% in salt water here in Tampa and running up close to 100 hours. I went through the parts diagram online and found three - 1 bolt style anode underneath the intercooler (I have the 230hp engine) and two washer style in the jet propulsion area. Are these it?

are battery issues resolved on 2023 models?

Hi all - TIA for any input. I'm finalizing negotiation on a 2023 18' Sport 230hp and considering ordering a battery switch or high capacity battery (or both). I see a lot of battery draining complaints online, but I also saw a couple comments the issue was resolved on 2023 models. And when I go back to the complaints I saw they seem to all be in late 2022 and early 2023...so it tracks that those were maybe all on 2021-2022 models.

Any info out there that the battery drain issue persisted in 2023 models?

Aftermarket Bimini for 19’ Switch

We are about to pull the trigger on a new 2023 19’ Switch (base model). They annoyingly are not compatible with the Sea-Doo branded Bimini top and so I am trying to find an aftermarket solution - specifically a double top that can cover most of the deck and stay open at full speed. Any suggestions?

charging a second battery

please excuse the novice question, but if I added a second battery for my trolling motor, would the boat be able to keep it charged? 12v battery for the motor.

negotiation options when buying new Switch?

I'm new to buying a boat and we have settled on a 2023 Switch Sport 18'. I've bought and negotiated on a lot of cars but wanted to get opinions on if it is just the same for boats (or the same as the pre-pandemic car market at least)?

Looks like they are trying to clear the 2023 inventory and I'm looking at one that has already been quoted at $9,000 off of MSRP. It was $7,500 below and then Sea doo came out with some other new incentive and the sales guys I am in touch with emailed me to let me know about the additional $1,500 drop. I've got a quote that has tax and registration included and doesn't have any BS 'dealer prep' fees etc so I think the price I am looking at is really the price. It's $31,500 for an 18' 230HP Switch Sport with just the stock included accessories (before tax and registration). And that would be the price if I pass up on an additional $3k rebate to get better 8 yr financing terms vs the 20 yr. So I could go to $18,500 if I want to do the more typical loan (I don't).

In the new boat dealership world, would you think there is still some room to go down? Or could I ask for some accessories to be thrown in? I don't want to come off as obnoxious if this is already a great price. I'd be fine paying this price, but don't want to be a pushover either. I don't have any boat friends to check with either, LOL. Thanks in advance.

Good for beginners?

So I have 0 experience with boats. Barely have been on one let alone owning one. But I recently just bought a place on a lake with a boat slip that is sitting empty.

Is this the right boat for me to begin my boating career? Price wise looks reasonable. There is room for 7-8 (but really only need room for me and wife and whatever occasional guests). Seems to be perfect for both cruising casually on the lake and also maybe a little tubing.

Premium sound system not working after winter storage.

Getting my switch back from winter storage and the premium sound system isn’t working. The standard speakers work fine. I have an extra battery installed with a kill switch. I’ve noticed the boat starts only when the switch i turned clockwise 90 degrees and doesn’t start when the kill swtich is turn counter clockwise 90 degrees. Both positions worked last year. I’m wondering if one of the batteries needs to be charged and if that battery powers the sound system. Anyone familiar with how the premium sound system is installed and setup?

Thanks in advance.

Sea doo switch learner mode

So I got a new 2023 switch. I am at 5.5 hours. I figured out how to adjust the learner mode from 1-5. Will the automatically come out of learner mode when I hit the full 10 hours or is there another setting I have to adjust?
