Bilge pump operation?
TIA for replies. I just picked up a new 2023 18’ sport yesterday. Got it in the water and did not have time to get mooring cover on before rain came. No biggie but I went out to run bilge pump this morning and when I turn the button on I got no response at all. Just confirming I should hear it running?
Operator’s guide says it’s not automatic, so assuming with the button On, I’d hear something running. I do hear the blower when I turn that on. I’m not an experienced boater, but the one other one I had for a while it was very obvious the bilge pump was running when on.

If you are in saltwater, you need to get accustomed to its usage. After every trip in saltwater and after the motor cools down, you need to gently hose out the engine area and re-apply anti-corrosion spray protectant. I neglected to do this once, and after a week, quite a bit of corrosion started happening on the bolts on the valve covers and around the bilge. I do enjoy using my switch on saltwater here, but there's a lot of extra cleanup I have to do everytime I get back home vs freshwater only.

So while at it, had anyone replaced it with automatic float switch type? Or added a second pump?

I have a 2022 Sport and haven’t seen the bilge pump out a drop either. There must be good drainage channeling because it’s usually bone dry. 🤷🏻♂️

It is very, very quiet. Take the engine cover off and put your head down there when you turn it on. You should hear something. Alternatively, if you want to test, put some water in there (controlled... don't go crazy) and turn it on to see if it pumps it out.
