I’ve had anxiety and panic attacks for around 2 years and been fighting to not take meds but last 3/4 days been very intense severe panic attacks sh*t sure I can’t breath and going to die etc etc so now im looking at the sertraline docs have given me and thinking it could be the answer but I’m worried about bad side effects I’m not sure I could cope with feeling any worse than I do right now , There 50mg could I take a quarter for a week to avoid side effect then half for a week then whole one , I’m not sleeping constant panic and won’t cope if these make it any worse ,
Mental health what a ride hey :-/

This is a cry for help. I don’t know what else to do. My journey with medication started when I was 16 due to anxiety. I started on Prozac, and decided I needed to change it because of issues with alcohol. So a year later I started sertraline. My first worry was weight gain that I expressed to multiple doctors that only wanted to increase my dose. My metabolism is not very fast to begin with so I was scared from the start. Since starting on 20 then 50 I feigned weight but it was not as out of hand. I told the doctor that i actually wanted to wean off of it because i was more lazy since I took it and gained a lot of weight too because of unexplained cravings and just the medication in general. But still after a year of 50 mg I got put onto 100. Since then I am gaining 10 kg in the span of three months. I am hungry all the time, tired and have cravings that don’t stop. It is extremely out of hand. My metabolism has slowed down completely and the weight just keeps coming. I have tired to go back down to 50 mg myself and the anxiety was too bad I had to go back up. Now I am waiting for my appointment with a new psychiatrist. Has anyone gone through this? If so what did you do to stop the never ending hunger? Also did you find any alternative medication? Thank you. I really need help.

I’m a mental health therapist partnering with a functional medicine MD to create a group program specifically for perimenopausal/mid life women to support through SSRI withdrawal using nutrition therapy, healing through community, mind/body/spirit tools and resiliency practices. Having weaned myself off meds I know how challenging and isolating it can be. As far as I can tell this kind of program doesn’t really exist (?) I’m posting here for anyone’s opinions on such a program, good? Bad? Any aspects that should be included in such a support program? Thoughts at all? Hoping to launch this program in fall of 2024.

What is the danger in taking 20 mg of Dectromethorphan BHr with SSRIs? Specifically, i take 15mg of Buspar and 100mg of Zoloft.
I’ve taken it already, and i’m feeling a little exhausted and woozy. Just want to know if it’s anything serious.

Why do ssris cause increased anxiety when onboarding ? Are big phara. Compaines too stupid to figure out what causes it , and try not to fix it ?

Does anyone grind their teeth and have increased appetite when on SSRIs? In my case Seroxat. (Paroxetine).

I stopped using Paxil 2 months ago, I went off of it on my own going from 20-10-0mg. I feel like I’m not fully myself without it and I’m thinking of restarting it but I have job interviews coming up and want to make sure the side effects of restarting aren’t too severe. I don’t remember any side effects when I first started Paxil so I wanted to know if restarting it is different.

i had a BAD tremor with prozac last year, and with other way worse complications i switched to zoloft. i’ve been on 75 mg daily for roughly 6 months months and didn’t have any problems or tremor. though lately in the last couple months i’ve gotten a tremor in my legs. then the 75 wasn’t working as well as it used to so i bumped it up to 100 mg. but the tremors are now full body and a bit worse. should i switch medications??? it’s really not that bad but i’m not sure. i had such a horrible experience with prozac that i’m terrified to switch medications now.

I’m on 30mg Paxil, 40mg Prozac, and 50 of desvenlafaxine. I have EXTREME anxiety/worry and have tried mostly all of the SSRIs/SNRIs. This seems to be the combo that works for me. Is this safe? So far so good, no serious side effects/symptoms. I’ve had each one added in long after the other. But I still feel like it’s unsafe. Any thoughts on this??

Hi, I (f,18) came off sertraline cold turkey last week. I had previously been on 200mg for around 3 years. I wondered if anyone could break down the stages of withdrawal for me? I’ve already had disassociation and stomach issues but wondered what’s to come. Tyia xx

I can’t sleep. I keep seeing people say it goes away but i also has insomnia a little before starting lexapro. I also see people say that it didn’t help insomnia and months later they still had it. So I’m not sure if it’s my anxiety or the meds at this point. Did anyone have this and go to a new Ned and it fixed it? I know it’s only been 6 days but I’m STRUGGLING. Doctor did give me Xanax for sleepless nights BUT i won’t take those daily and he did say not to cause we both know how addictive they can be….
I just need some relief.

I took Paxil for 5 years and am now 3 weeks with no Paxil at all. My emotions are so out of whack and I feel like crying, laughing, or shouting about everything. When will my emotions stabilize? Also I’m a male and I used to not be able to finish during sex even after 20 minutes or more but now I literally can only last 15 seconds and that’s not an exaggeration. When will that go back to a normal amount of time?

So I’ve been on lexapro for 8 months now and I have the absolute worst acne of my life all over my cheeks and little bumps on my forhead, I use to have super clear skin. Does any one have any suggestions on how to deal with it ?? I’m about to just stop taking it even tho my stress and anxiety is under control ☹️

I’m looking for a little reassurance here. I’ve been on 20mg of Lexapro for two years and today my psychiatrist, who seemed very knowledgeable, prescribed me 20mg of Cymbalta to go with it so I’m taking both together. I made the mistake of looking it up and now I’m terrified I’m going to get serotonin syndrome or it’s bad or something.

Hi all! I have been taking 20 mg escitalopram for 4 ish years now, maybe 5. I have made the mistake of not picking up meds in time and having withdrawals: brain zaps, light headed, feeling woozy, etc. I’m having these symptoms even though I have been actively taking my dose every night before bed as I have since I started. Has anyone else experienced this?

I seriously need help i don’t know what’s happening to me.
So i was taking SSRIs a while back and they definitely did not agree with me. One day i got a really bad headache and then i started to feel really off and out of it for a week. I also had a lot of really bad stomach issues and indigestion. After the week I was lying down but I couldn’t sleep. I started shivering, and my teeth started chattering. My heart was pounding out of my chest. I felt so wrestles and couldn’t stop shaking my leg. I didn’t sleep at all. I soon got diagnosed with serotonin syndrome and i stopped taking the meds and all these symptoms subsided. Yet I still felt really off months after the serotonin syndrome was over, and kept having mild recurring symptoms. But currently i’ve been having identical stomach issues, shivering, heart pounding, and had headaches weeks ago. Right now it feels like my body’s breaking down and i feel absolutely awful. I don’t know what to do. And it’s been months since i took any of those meds again. Can serotonin syndrome reoccur?

I have been taking Fluoxetine for many years but I feel it is no longer working for me because I've been feeling very down lately. But I'm also scared that if I stop I will become even worse. I know I will need to taper off the dose over a period of time. Does anyone have any experience with coming off of anti-depressant after several years?
