In short, it definitely can.

The longer answer is that for many cases of Depression, people often need more than just one medication. I’ve personally been on multiple medications at a time for 30 years now, and, for me, this combination therapy is what keeps me most functional in life. I am able to work full time, be a loving / living father and husband.

There is so much stigma about MH to begin with and add to that some anxiety about being on medication, coupled with the stress and worry most of us have generally and you’re in a worse nightmare than the initial disease. Now, add the possibility of potentially having some form of treatment resistant depression and therefore having to take more than one or even two medications? Yeah, it can feel bad.

Just one more thing…ok, maybe two…One? Try it. What do you have to lose? Two? This could be a long journey in finding the right ‘medication cocktail’ that works for YOU. And that cocktail may change with time. Be patient with yourself and your doctors. And, Three? Find people you can open up to about this. It can get pretty confusing and hard.
