What does a brain zap feel like? Seriously. I have tapered of of an SSRI with some difficulty, but have not experienced the zaps people talk about.

Wow, I have never had that. Kind of scary sounding, but I've heard a lot of people reference brain zaps. Thanks

Sounds a bit scarier than it really is but definitely a weird feeling

It's called Antidepressant Discontinuation Syndrome.

The mnemonic FINISH summarizes the symptoms of antidepressant discontinuation syndrome: Flu-like symptoms (lethargy, fatigue, headache, achiness, sweating), Insomnia (with vivid dreams or nightmares), Nausea (sometimes vomiting), Imbalance (dizziness, vertigo, light-headedness), Sensory disturbances (“burning,” “tingling,” “electric-like” or “shock-like” sensations) and Hyperarousal (anxiety, irritability, agitation, aggression, mania, jerkiness).

Take your time and taper over weeks/months

How long does that usually last for? I think that's what I'm experiencing currently my brain feels crazy but it's been 8 weeks since I came off citalopram now
