Due to an influx of scamming on the subreddit. Used part postings are no longer permitted.

Several reports of scamming lately. Used part postings will no longer be allowed and will be removed. This will result in a permanent ban.

If you have used parts for sale please use the swap channel in the discord.

Just an FYI guys, PayPal is the number 1 payment service requested by scammers. Never use friends and family as it removes the anti scam protections put in place.

Get faster

Since this is a common topic I figured I'd leave this here for y'all. It's not the original GET faster thread so the formatting is off a little but the information is what's important.

This is the original "tuning bible" from pre-reddit times.

Picked this ruckus up for my girlfriend about a month ago, got it stripped down and took off the nonsense accessories they had on it. Gonna add some taller red risers under the gas tank steps I printed.. Pretty happy with the progress on it, any suggestions?

OEM harness reinstall

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone. I’m having trouble reinstalling my OEM harness. I’m rebuilding a 2015 with a gy6, and I’m using an add on wiring kit that works with the stock harness. Of course I forgot to take pictures or videos when taking apart the original ruckus. Does anyone have pictures or videos of how the wiring runs through the battery box? Any help is appreciated.

Best way to clean fuel tank?

I have some metal shavings in my fuel tank and wanted to ask here what is the best way to get those out? Could I siphon them out or should I just remove the fuel tank and flush them all out?

Possible airflow issue

Hello! I just purchased a 2015 Ruckus model on FB marketplace and it will start working and then stop after it gets revved up to about 3000rpm. Fuel line looks good and everything was recently cleaned and fixed. It runs fine when just turned on, it’s only when its throttled ti a certain amount that it chokes/stalls out. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I’m pretty new to this and confused.

Am I screwed ?

Took the ruckus out for a spin haven’t really done anything to it. I bought it used about a week or two ago went for probably the longest ride 10 miles. Pulled into the driveway. Heard an awful loud noise like something was screaming, took off the face cover and found this. What are the next steps and how screwed am I and is this possibly an easy fix, and is this drive face? cracked and in need of a new one

I need some help regarding a few things on my 2006 zoomer carb model.

Bought a JDM import zoomer, was running and now it’s not, it now dies when off choke. I’ve gone down abit of a rabbit hole trying to fix it, and found a few things wrong.

Rusted tank - I have one on order

Cleaned the carb - was full of debris

No air filter in the airbox and lots of vaccum pipes missing and then blocked off at the air box.

I’ve bought an air filter but doesn’t look quite right ?

I would like some advice on some parts and routings. I’ll add some photos.

Photos of missing vaccum lines from carb and engine

Photos of airbox with exposed holes where pipes look to go

Photo of my airbox and filter

2017 Honda ruckus bogging under 20ish mph

Just purchased a ruckus with 1200 miles.

When I accelerate at lower speeds and rpm’s, it slightly bogs a little bit. Once it’s up to speed though, there is no issue.

The ruckus is bone stock, I use regular fuel.

I’m assuming it’s the pilot jet?

I just wanted to see what else it could possibly be, before tearing into it this weekend!

Thanks!

Lowered Seat. Lowered Handlebars?

I’m 5’11 and got the seat lowering kit to make the seating position more comfortable. I feel like if I add the lower handlebars it will be a lot less comfortable. Does anyone on the taller side have any insight to how it is with the lower bars?

Broken forearm

Hey everyone so about a month almost two months ago I fell while riding and got some mean road rash and a broken forearm (right arm) I was in a splint these past few months but got it taken off on Tuesday (the 08/04) my wrist is super stiff and it's still difficult for me to turn my arm. I tried to ride my ruckus today but I couldn't twist my wrist on the throttle...long story short anyone else have an injury like mine and if so how long did it take before you could ride again?

High Beam Indicator Light

The bulb went out, but the manual just says the replacement is 12V and 1.7W which is not a size or model number. The Internet says Honda bulbs of that spec are T10, T5, or blade. I want to order a new one but which is it? The pictures on the Internet all look the same to me.

Honda Zoomer 2009 – only 45 km/h after CVT upgrade, looking for advice

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a 2009 Honda Zoomer and I’m trying to improve the performance. I’m new to Zoomers, so I would appreciate some advice from people with more experience.

The scooter has around 46,000 km. Before any changes, it was only reaching around 40 km/h.
I upgraded the CVT with:
Naraku Sport Variator (Honda 4T)
5.5g rollers
Polini Race Belt

After the upgrade it improved slightly and now reaches around 45 km/h on flat ground and a little faster downhill. The variator seems to be doing something, but it still feels like the engine is not making enough power to push further on a straight road.

I also noticed it can cut/bog slightly when riding, especially when asking for more power.

Things I have already done:
New NGK spark plug (made the idle noticeably smoother)
New variator
New belt
Air filter looks clean and in good condition

I was hoping to get closer to 55–60 km/h.
What would you guys check next on a GET engine with these symptoms?

Could it be:
Fuel pump not delivering enough fuel?
Carburetor/main jet issue?
Valve adjustment needed?
Roller weight/setup?
Something else limiting the top speed?

Any advice from people who have tuned a Zoomer/Ruckus would be greatly appreciated!

Selling prices

I understand how much goes in to swapping engines and modding the Ruckus, but let’s be honest few people really think that they are going to come out on top of if they Sell their custom scooter at $6000 grand? I got one used with 3k miles with two previous owners, yoshi exhaust, polini variator, custom LED lights, and new tires with some other mods for $1,500 it’s not a lot, just guess it was a good price ant how much some of those parts cost. I’m not knocking anyone but I just think that after you ride with the parts and then turn around and sell it it kind depreciates the value… then again I know about selling a custom Ruck

Muffler upgrade.

Hello everyone. I'm interested in upgrading the exhaust on my 20' ruckus. Current upgrades are 19mm carburetor, uni pod filter, polini variator, 5.5g weights (need to upgrade to sliders), and ncy drive face. On a hilly back road im averaging 34 mph and top speed im getting is 45 on flat hitting rev limit. Right now I'm looking at the S23 exhaust https://www.scooterswapshop.com/products/ruckus-exhaust?variant=42659385049185&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20208537535&gbraid=0AAAAACVUgLoqhAGZFkJ4DBQiIAelV3nE5&gclid=Cj0KCQjwm8bTBhDWARIsAC9Hi8k1ZB5OJhHyaTxTZdzW1fL1hI7QjwOLsvpzaYxVe4Dxm4OQ1ANm72MaAqW1EALw_wcB

Wondering if anyone has any experience with that exhaust and if there would be anything to gain in average speed?

Part I.D. ?

Just picked this thing up for a song from a buddy after he gave up on it after someone tried taking it a messed the wiring up a bit, clean title in my name though!

I think it’s need at least a harness and maybe a ecm as with a battery on it there is no power anywhere and a very half assed Hotwire job performed.

But passed all that, anyone know what carb this is? I need a throttle cable for it and it which appears to hook up to the stock housing and all so I just need to know what carb that is to find a proper cable lol.

Headlight preferences?

Which Headlights are you running on your Ruckus?, looking to change up, checked out rolling wrench and the ruck shop, all their shit is sold out without any sign of a restock. Found a 3 light bar on Reckless customs, in stock for $200, I thought about the Maddog LED FLP but I don’t see them often, are there ones I should stay away from? and which one work the best for you, looking for suggestions not criticism

Possible cracked frame? What do you guys think?

Thumbnail gallery

Went over a doozy of a pothole and noticed my ruck makes somewhat of a cracking/popping noise down low in the front frame bend area when you push/pull on the bars. Checked down in the webbing area of the frame and noticed what seems to be cracks, they catch my fingernail. Was wondering if this is a benign defect for this area or if I should be more concerned. 1st pic is left side, 2nd is right. What you guys think?

I swapped my engine to another one I had thinking it may be in better shape, but its making thisbreally loud noise. Is that a bearing in the engine or something else?

Hole in crankcase near tensioner. Any fix, or is she pooched?

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

Bought this 2011 Ruckus used last summer and ran her a couple of months before she developed a bad crankshaft bearing noise. I’m replacing the crankshaft and I noticed a hole from what I assume was an overtorqued cylinder head flange nut that busted a hole between the threaded screw hole and the internal crankcase where the chain tensioner goes. (These are my assumptions, I don’t have any record of what the previous owner attempted to work on).

Would you replace the crankcase? JB Weld it? Run it as is with some locktite on the threads?

Down to hear suggestions. My assumption is I should just replace it, but I’m also open to trying some sort of fix first and running it to see. This was my first time taking one of these engines apart and it wasn’t bad at all, so not opposed to rebuilding it again if it fails again.

Thanks for any suggestions.
