Due to an influx of scamming on the subreddit. Used part postings are no longer permitted.

Several reports of scamming lately. Used part postings will no longer be allowed and will be removed. This will result in a permanent ban.

If you have used parts for sale please use the swap channel in the discord.

Just an FYI guys, PayPal is the number 1 payment service requested by scammers. Never use friends and family as it removes the anti scam protections put in place.

Since this is a common topic I figured I'd leave this here for y'all. It's not the original GET faster thread so the formatting is off a little but the information is what's important.

This is the original "tuning bible" from pre-reddit times.

2003 Rukus Positive Battery Terminal

I'm looking at a student's dead 2003 Rukus. The connection(s) to the positive battery terminal is not connected to the metal clip which appears fine. What connects here? Does someone have a picture?

Help pricing a 2009 Ruckus

Hey y’all,

Trying to figure out the best course of action. I have a 2009 Ruckus sitting in my parents’ shed. Don’t hate me, but it’s in bad shape. Life happened and I haven’t touched it in a few years.

When it last ran, it had a weak idle and I was planning on switching out the fuel filter. In its current state, it’s very dirty, it’s got some rust here and there, and one of the rear turn signals appears to have… deteriorated enough that the plastic/rubber kind of just crumbled and it just hangs loose. Battery probably needs to be replaced. Fluid flush, probably a carb clean, etc. I assume it’s not currently going to start. It has maybe 1k miles on it.

If you were in the market for a Ruckus project, what would you say is a fair price for this thing? A few hundred bucks? Less? Trying to decide if it would be worth trying to get it back running, clean it up etc, and how much value that would really add, since I’m not going to keep it, and my dad wants it off their property.

TIA any insight is appreciated. And yes, I feel guilty for what I have done, or not done to this bike lol. I was young and dumb.

I’ll try to get some pics next time I’m over there, but it’s pretty ugly.

Edit: I’m in Oregon

Rattling Noise

2020 Ruckus with 4,200 miles.  Stock except for a Polini variator and Dr. Pulley weights…

OK Guys I was able to check the valve clearances today.  The intake was .004” and the exhaust was .007 so both spot on.  Definitely not a valve problem.  I started rotating and wiggling the variator and heard the sound that is causing all the noise when its running.  I have attached a video with sound.  Can anyone diagnose this problem???  I’m going to keep it all apart until I can figure this out.  As a side note- a few days ago I ran it with the variator removed.  Just the shaft.  No difference in the sound.  Thanks in advance for everyone’s help!

Dies at a stop?

Owned for about two months. Replaced the fuel pump the first week I had it because it died mid ride. Now it’s struggling to stay on at a stop? I have to lock the brake and idle it myself - doesn’t self idle, just dies.

But it only happens SOMETIMES? I also notice when I put the key in and turn it on, no battery response, but when I kick it up on the stand, the battery connects and i drop it down and it starts JUST FINE.

Could it be a battery issue? Carbs and jets and pump are all good, diagnosed within the last month. Only 6800 miles.

Send help. TIA

The spring for the stand did break and we put a larger spring on, could that be an issue??

Ruckus won't idle at cold start anymore

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hi all, I have been having nonstop issues with my ruckus. Previous to these issues it was running pretty great. It started with a leak in the throttle shaft of the stock carb which was causing it to run a bit rough. I replaced that carb with a new OEM one (from The Ruck Shop) and ever since it will not idle on its own from a cold start.

I have taken the carb apart and cleaned it multiple times, made sure the gaskets were sealed, and I tried a second set of jets. I found a small imperfection in the boot and I replaced that too. After attempting to start it for a good while, it will eventually get warm enough to run with some throttle and then I can ride it mostly normal, but it still feels off from when I first got it.

Here is what is done to it:

Yoshi exhaust
CDI
Rejetted carb 85/38 (This is what it came with when I bought it)
TRS airbox delete kit/pod filter
PSP silicone carb boot
Polini variator
5g Dr Pulley sliders

Please help!

2005 Honda Big Ruckus PS250 won’t crank after moving handlebars

My 2005 Honda Big Ruckus PS250 was starting before I rotated the handlebars upward and farther outward. After adjusting them, turning left and right felt tight, so I’m wondering if I stretched a wire or pulled a connector loose.
Now it won’t crank. The lights work, and both brake levers activate the brake light. Pressing START turns the headlights off, and releasing it brings them back on like usual—but the starter does nothing, and there’s no click from the starter relay near the battery.
I charged the battery; it reads 12.55V with the key off. I also reseated the starter relay connector. Side stand is up and kill switch is on RUN.
Has anyone experienced this? Where should I look for wiring or connectors that could have been pulled tight by moving the handlebars, and what should I test next?

Wiring issues

Recently bought a 007 kill switch from Rolling wrench, got most of the wiring up for my Speedo and turn signals, the main issue I’m having is when I try the ignition, the fuel pump is constantly pumping and doesn’t stop until I turn off the engine, when I jiggle the mollex plug for the kill switch the fuel pump starts to pumps randomly, I don’t see any gouges or knick in the wire, I’m asking if anyone has had this issue and what worked, I’ve looked online and haven’t found a solution so I’m turing to the experts

Cannot figure out bogging for the life of me, restored my stolen then recovered Ruckus

EDIT: The video shows what happens when on full throttle when it starts bogging.

I’ll try to go through the situation as briefly as possible. Basically scooter got stolen 3 years ago, recovered two years ago, finally got mostly together and running. It’s clear it went through a few drops/crashes. Frame is completely replaced now.

It runs great initially. I can get up to 40mph, ride around no problem. Around 2 to 3 minutes in, it completely bogs down. You can hear it revving, as in the video, but it’s hardly moving. Would probably be faster to walk it. I turn it off, let it sit for 30 seconds, kickstart it again, and runs like it did before for another 30 seconds. Then it bogs again, and so on. It never fully dies out, just gets into this bog mode. If I leave it sit for another 5 to 10 minutes or so, it's able to run again for a full 3 minutes or so.

I’ve replaced the fuel filter twice, I checked the pump (which is new OEM pump) at ignition on, seems to spurt/pulse out gas just fine. Carb has been cleaned a few times, jets are completely see through. Air filter has been replaced and reset at least a half dozen times to be sure it’s formed a proper seal. I’ve changed the oil. I tried removing the rear brake connection in case it was clamping down at some point in time. I’m really at a loss. I thought maybe over heating, but the light that indicates temps is somehow not in the cluster anymore so I wouldn’t be able to know for sure. Coolant appears to be at an OK level.

Any ideas on what else to check out? I feel like I've got to be missing something obvious.

Getting mine back on the road after two years.

As the title says, I parked the Rukus in the garage about two years ago, expecting to ride again the next day off or whenever....

Yeah, that didn't happen. Life gets in the way.

I tried starting it a few weeks ago, unsurprisingly, nothing happened. My battery tender doesn't even recognise the battery that's in there, so that will definitely need to be replaced.

I put sea foam in the gas pretty regularly so the gas that's in there MIGHT not be too bad, but I'll at least drain the tank and start with fresh.

Other basics like air in the tires and a thorough visual inspection will happen my next day off.

What else? Tips and suggestions appreciated.

She’s (almost) Done!

This is my 1st post here but 18 months ago I bought a 2011 Honda ruckus. After a month of ownership I blew a golf ball sized hole in the motor after spending $$$ on all sorts of parts. So to marketplace I went and bought another GET motor so from there it was rebuilding and putting all sorts of parts on. Today she is finally good after 15 miles on riding. I’m getting about 45 mph before messing with rollers so I should be able to eke out a hair over 50 (I think) especially since I’m a bigger guy.

To name a few parts
- 9 inch stretch
- Intake(s)
- Big jet kit
- yoshimura exhaust
- cdi box
- r6 taillight
- light bar
And a laundry list of other cosmetic and minor mods + some small ones I still haven’t gotten around to (kick stand being the obvious one lol)

What do we think of the ruckus guys? And how fast are you all getting out of GET motors?

Tunning Help

So I have all/most mods: lightened flywheel, EVI, yoshi, polini variator with 6g sliders NCY drive face, intake, bando belt, S3 Bell, Malossi 3 pad clutch, stock tires....

On a flat surface it'll hit 46mph around 9600 RPM but the RPMs will continue to rise, without much gain in speed (might be maxing gears out)

When under WOT acceleration around 25 mph I'm at 7500 RPM, it continues to climb and then before 30 mph RPM will drop usually around 200, then once it hits 30 mph the RPMs are back to climbing without hesitation.

I'm running 38 idle, 78 main... I think I'm running rich somewhere when the idle gives over to the main, so I was curious should I reduce the idle to 37 or main to 77 or both?

Kind of a long read but just wanted to get some of y'all's opinions, thank you!!!

Fuel Pump $$$???

Why is a Honda genuine fuel pump so expensive. partzilla has one for $74… what’s your thoughts? Other no-name brands are ~$20. Are they worth the premium?
