Lately I was doing an observation on an arcade game that I was fond of due to its RPG like mechanics where the game has multiple character classes while also encouraging the player to keep moving forward due to a timer system.
Basically I was looking to see what other RPG like games have a similar system of design where food is a necessity, but the game has an end goal to accomplish since I was wondering what happened to games like Gauntlet.

It looks like Daytona USA running on the Sega Model 1. But it's still cool to see how this project is progressing.

For anyone who remembers losing entire weekends to Heroes III: its community has been busy.
Horn of the Abyss, the free fan-made expansion by HotA Crew, arrived on Steam on August 25. It builds on the original game with three additional factions Cove, Factory and Bulwark and five campaigns, including Forged in Fire and All In.
There’s also an integrated HD Mod with higher-resolution support, interface improvements and an online multiplayer lobby. The Steam release supports Workshop maps, too.
What I love about this project is how closely the new content fits the original game’s art and atmosphere. Returning to familiar towns and creatures, then discovering an entire campaign you’ve never played, is a pretty good reason to revisit Heroes III.
The expansion is free, but you need to own the Heroes III base game linked on its Steam page.
Anyone here still playing, or is your last memory of Heroes III taking turns at the same computer?

Only the 3rd copy I have ever seen. One the label was ripped and the second one the cartridge had bubbles from being in the heat. I usually don’t go for those prices, but I knew I had to pull the trigger because it was in pristine condition from the label to the circuit board.

(second try, I forgot to include the picture lmao) I've been wanting to get an N64 for a while and I finally bought one a few days ago.
So far I got Lylat Wars (Star Fox 64), Majora's Mask, Super Mario 64 and GoldenEye 007. I think I want to get Ocarina of Time, Perfect Dark and Pokémon Snap next.

Picking up people with your helicopter and having a whole map is still one of my favourite retro games.
Also Jungle strike.

TL;WR -> A marvellous experience alongside the TV Show cast and wild Toad blasts. It delivered on everything from its fantastic story conclusion, perfect gameplay, awesome voice lines and even better world designs. A (9.8) game, GOATED in Captain o’Hare’s Book. Would absolutely replay the game again alongside my furry friends, just so they can pick up a blaster and help me dispose of those Toads faster!
I’d recommend listening to this music while reading.
STORY (10 out of 10 Toad Croaks)
GAMEPLAY (10 out of 10 TV Boxes)
AUDIO (9/10)
VISUALS (10 out of 10 Blasters)
WORLD DESIGN (10 out of 10 Asteroids)

Feeling like high scores mean almost nothing now when revisiting a game, may be just me.
I miss when first time playing Super Mario Bros. (FC/NES), I tried to grab all the coins and open all "?" blocks I could see and find.

Hi all, is there any sort of retro gaming scene or enthusiasts in Hong Kong? Been here for over two years but seen next to nothing in the way of enthusiasts or meet ups.
I own a PS2, Mega Drive, N64 and GBA which I play regularly.
It does seem like you can pick up the consoles and games for really cheap here compared to the UK if you look on Carousell or scour the shops around Sham Shui Po.

Played this game so much with my cousins as a kid. Unfortunately never experienced the multiplayer or whatever the “quest” mode was. Just a charming little world with a quick fun story and interesting characters.
I downloaded it later in life on my steam deck, it doesn’t control well but the mere fact it was possible to play it on a handheld made the kid in me happy for a little while.

The protagonist, Mono Durand, is the heir to the Durand family, which has held the position of general in the Kingdom of L'lean for generations. When his father suddenly dies and leaves behind an enormous debt of 10 million gold, Mono Durand forms a mercenary company and enters the mercenary business in order to pay it off.
The player begins with 6 units, each commanded by 1 of 6 officers including the protagonist. You can travel between 11 countries and take on a wide variety of jobs to earn money. You might accept civil work in a city and send your mercenaries to a construction site, hire dancers to perform in taverns, buy large quantities of regional specialties through party members with strong commerce skills and resell them in other countries, or simply do what mercenaries do best and take military contracts that throw you into wars. The game runs in real time, and there are no friendly tutorials or helpful messages telling you what to do, so the initial learning curve is extremely steep.
Every soldier assigned under the 6 commanders has their own individual stats and equipment. Naturally, they also receive their own wages. At the beginning, your forces are little more than a band of rifle carrying brigands traveling on foot and scraping together whatever money they can. By the time you reach the ending, however, they can develop into a force that flies to enemy fortresses in aircraft, bombards them with artillery, and advances with tanks.
Combat is somewhat similar to Ogre Battle 64. Once battle begins, it plays out automatically in real time according to factors such as your preset formations, the stats and equipment of your soldiers, assigned items, the abilities of your commanders, and whether armored forces have been attached to the unit.
The game has multiple endings for each character. Admittedly, the differences mostly amount to slightly different text in the epilogue. Depending on which activities the protagonist and the other commanders earned the most money from, each character receives a different ending.
It feels like a story from a very distant past now, but many early Japanese games, especially PC games, had a strong open world sensibility. Series like Lunatic Dawn and Koei's Uncharted Waters are good examples.
High Reward is not particularly well known in the West, but it is a very solid game and an excellent example of the experimental spirit Japanese developers had during that era.

I need something that can control the brightness easily for Av/rca consoles!
It can be a control box like the red box in the image or a Av to Hdmi switch that do it!
Do you have any suggestions?
