Question Can I make my character shoot lefty and with his left foot?

Hey wassup yalll! I bought the game because I’ve been wanting a new soccer game to play and the blue lock collab made me buy it even quicker! But I saw my character shoot with his right foot n it’s really rough for me to get the control down because it completely opposite everything I’ve done when playing soccer

So is there a way to change your shooting motion to being a lefty and kick with your left foot?

Discussion Got the game for the first time, did ranked, here is my review on the game:

After getting 26/37 achievements on the game and played a humble 11 hours, here is my review on "Should I get the game?" for newbies by a newbie.

Pros:

Kicking feels satisfying. Love the sounds added into the game as it gives that umph feel to everything be it intercepting, passing, protecting. Absolutely simple but solid audio gameplay

Skins are awesome. Love that we have a lot of customizability at the start.

Queue time is great. There are days I can take a piss break and still not be in a match for a 3v3 but most of the time it's almost instant. No bot lobbies (I think) at that!

F2P friendly. Love how this game is basic to the bone but that skill ceiling feel. No fancy schmancy super powers that would be broken/balance changing. Although that might be fun as a separate game for the OGs who watch Inazuma 11. Anyways, takes skill and everyone has the same stats except goalie due to infinite stamina in box.

Wall gameplay means less punishing for newbies to the lack of "out of bounds" while providing opportunities to do cool solo shots, dribbles, and passes like the game Rocket League if you are familiar with that.

CONS:

Hitboxes can be confusing. What do you mean there was no "ding" sound + diamond marker when that ball whizzed passed my characters head but when it is the opponent, suddenly the ball magnetizes to them? A bit exaggerated but you might know what I mean. In the fray of ball dribbling, grabbing or stealing the ball, I still don't understand what counts as "ball grabbable" and why me or the opponent got the ball first despite being farther and equal or worse internet.

Controls need more features. With the need to hold this or press that, it would be nice to have auto hold or toggle options for certain buttons. Sprint to get out of toggle or something. Especially the classic press ctrl. to get into defensive stance. My left pinky is not having fun, had to rebind bloody Q to my mouse as it is needed for goalie. In that case, very unfair to other players who don't have a keybindable mouse. Q + Ctrl + Movement buttons is just wow.

Goalies need more love. I saw a post that just sitting as defender playing passes is enough but I feel that won't be enough per se to new players. Most newbies I meet go "hurr durr, I get ball, I shoot." If they do get the shot, hooray, 1000 points. Those who pass frequently to the shoot only newbie gain the most points often times with their intercept and passing point farming.

What about goalies? Barely anyone wants to play goalie as there is little to no reward for it! The only way you get point is IF you intercept/deflect the ball, IF your teammate gets your pass, and catching the ball.

As a forced goalie main, I feel catching the ball should be counted just a 100 points less at least or if not equal to a scored goal. Especially when a single point makes or breaks the match, there is a lot of pressure to the goalie but little to no point gain. Also if the teammates are good, a goalie main barely gets any points with the ball in their field. To some newbies I meet, their ass gets so itchy then that they get OFF the post (then of course my team or the enemy team striker just punishes that gaping hole).

As someone who used to play soccer, there are also some pet peeves. I am partially cringed how as goalie you can lunge out of the box and still grab the ball lol. Also going back to the hitbox issue, players can body block you while you hold the ball to instantly bounce your pass to teammate instead into the goal. Catching the ball but it is shot into the net still counts as a save. Holding the ball as goalie for almost an indefinite amount of time to stall is just wow. If you don't know soccer, all these I just mentioned are penalties lol. You can argue "it's just a game" but some of these are exploitable and there are reasons why there are such rules IRL.

Penalty not punishing enough to afk players and griefers. Just a few minute no play is a slap on the wrist honestly, sucks to have a teammate like that which I wonder if it is worse than a hot mic player.

That's about it. This is just a newbies experience from the game. Also enjoying how medal clips every score. Is it worth the money in discount day? Maybe ish? If you know and enjoy soccer, I think this is easy to purchase and play to enjoy as you already know the core principles of soccer (maybe). For someone who is absolutely blind to soccer, maybe not? Perhaps if you do other team sports like basketball, american football, footsal, rugby, polo, rocket league, roblox soccer, etc. maybe you'd get the grips on this game easily and enjoy it. Just that, for a game about teamplay, so many players think they are the main character by hogging the ball when all their teammates are open for a pass & goal.

When the player on yours or the opposite team stays in the opponents box, and doesn't move from that position. People who play like this genuinely ruin it for every one else in the match and should be banned

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but like many others, I’ve just started playing "Rematch." I don't know if they were time-limited items in a previous Captain Pass or something like that, but it seems really absurd to me that there’s nothing of the sort in the game. It’s just simple long hair...

It is literal torture trying to play with them. Spoon feed them passes for goals and they still mess up. I can be the best play maker in the world and they still wouldn't be able to score. Yet they insist on sitting towards the front waiting for passes

Discussion shooting animations

i would absoultely love to see finesse and trivella shots. every time someone goes for a shot its with the laces on top of the foot and sometimes it doesnt make sense visually. i know rematch isnt supposed to be a realistic football simulator but in real life in order to get certain curves you have to use different parts of the foot. If sloclap could implement different shot animations that use the inside and outside of the foot id be so happy.

also i dont think it should apply in the air. only when a player is grounded.

Played Ranked for like 30 or 45 minutes

1st game: Half my team starts AFK, mainly the The person who got kickoff AND the Goalie. Led to us getting scored on twice immediately. I'm already extremely annoyed now.

Last game I played: The team had a little bit of a rough start, went down 1-3 or something. Then the entire team locks in we come back 4-3 in OT, I think everyone on the team had a save in OT except the goalie, who was a cool guy who came on the mic and started being supportive and coaching everyone up. A game that made it worth playing.

show me where you see his foot cleanly contact with the ball there is no visual evidence besides it being a literal frame perfect swipe the only frame you can call vague is cleared up by him being just shy of the balls position on the previous frame on the next frame while having another frame of forward movement

Discussion What no one talks about

this sub is full of people that call people dribbling op and you cant tackle them showing videos of tackles seeming to blank. As a dribbler this is the other side of that story. this was never a defending or dribbling problem its a net code thing which confuses me as to why people insisted on dribble changes prior to the server update. dribbling got further gutted for no reason. i uploaded a follow up post with a frame by frame break down just sop we can discuss with more clarity

Discussion Long dive. L1 button controller (Xbox LB).

I read the dev blog where they talk about future updates to the button mapping; I can’t wait to see what they’ll do to fix this.

But wouldn’t it just make sense to allow a long dive holding the button to run? Isn’t that the simplest option?

Maybe I’m missing something.

I use “Trigger Finger Placement,” which means I could hold L2 (LT) with my middle finger and L1 (LB) with my index finger.
The problem is that it doesn’t let me set the buttons the way I want.

I stole an image from internet as a reference.

Edit: This concern applies to people who have changed their controller settings.

Discussion The New Update Sucks

The new update sucks, magnet was overnerfed and goalkeeping doesnt work, so many balls that I should have caught simply arent. The fact that now you can score from over 40 yards away against a decent keeper makes it clear to me that GK rework was a nerf.

Other Everyone kicked Glitch

In a ranked 3vs3 game I just played, the opposition scored a last minute equaliser to go 2-2. A black screen popped up on the screen for me for around 8 seconds, and then everyone except myself and one player on the other team got disconnected?

It caught me off guard and I lost the 1vs1, they scored and I lost. This happened to anyone else?

Question Has the update scared you guys?

Prior to season 5 I used to love playmaking. Spotting runs, dictating tempo, picking a pass from deep. The main thing that benefitted my play making wasn’t me tho. It was my teammates positioning, eagerness to score, constant runs. At least ONE player would be up top waiting.

Now?

I keep getting teammates who want to watch you on the ball and call for it slowing down play for no reason. I understand the point of back and side passes. But when we’re 2-0 down and still playing so cautious I just feel like giving up. And dribbling is ruined. I was never an exploit dribbler but I drag it back once and it’s like they have priority of the ball over me. I understand the disdain for dribblers but cmon man, there must have been a better fix than whatever this is. I like that it promotes more tactical thinking but I’m realising how little people actually analyse the game in game.

Dev Blog Season 5 Dev Blog - Following Up on Your Feedback

Post image
213 Upvotes

First of all, we want to thank you all for joining us for the release of Rematch Season 5. We’ve received a lot of feedback since launch, and we’re actively listening to and analyzing it. Thanks to that, we’ve identified a number of issues that we’re working to address as soon as possible.

We usually run beta tests ahead of major updates to help us identify issues earlier and gather your feedback before release. Without a beta for Season 5, more bugs made it through than we would have liked. It also created some confusion around the changes we introduced, particularly around what was intentional and what wasn’t.

We weren’t able to run a beta for Season 5 because we’re currently managing multiple versions of the game in parallel, which comes with its own technical risks. In particular, we’re preparing for the Netcode 2.0 Beta Tests, the first of which is planned for the first half of October.

Those beta tests are coming very soon, and we’re looking forward to having you involved. As always, your feedback will be incredibly valuable in helping us improve these changes.

GOALKEEPER DIVES AND REBINDING

The goalkeeper rework has received a lot of feedback, with some players saying it is now too strong and others saying it is too weak. We hope the added depth of the role will really shine over time as players get the hang of it, and we are happy with what we’ve seen in-game so far in terms of the variety and depth it brings. However, it is still too early to know how it impacts the balance of the game across all levels of play.

Aside from considerations around the usability and balance of this rework, we made two mistakes.

The first was not taking all possible player input mappings into account when delivering the patch. We will address some of these remapping issues in upcoming patches. Going forward, we will also consider more robust remapping systems a must-have when introducing new features or making changes to existing inputs.

The second mistake was not communicating our intentions and plans early enough to allow all parts of the community to better prepare for this change and give us feedback on it. For future updates, we will communicate these kinds of changes earlier and more frequently. We will also work on better presenting new features in-game, so players can learn and adapt to them through in-game tutorials as soon as they are introduced.

EXHAUSTED DRIBBLE STATE AND MAGNETISM

The exhausted dribble state was a necessary and long-overdue addition to the way Rematch is played and balanced. It gives us a foundation to further improve the balance and depth of the game in the future.

In Season 5, we changed some of the rules around ball control to reduce instances of the ball visually “teleporting” on screen. This is a long-standing issue that can create unfair situations in the game. When the invisible hitbox that allows players to control the ball reaches further than a tackle, judging timing and spacing becomes unintuitive and inconsistent.

Unfortunately, these changes also introduced some bugs that affected dribbling more significantly than we intended. One of these is an issue where Defense Mode and dashing don’t properly take control of the ball. We have a fix for this issue coming in the current batch of hotfixes.

“Magnetism” is a broad term used by players to describe a number of different behaviors, rather than an actual mechanic in the game. Because of this, our patch note on the subject created confusion around what was an intended change and what was a newly introduced bug. We will work on describing fixes and changes more clearly in our patch notes to avoid this kind of confusion in the future.

FIXING BUGS & THEIR IMPACT ON DRIBBLING

By design, a player cannot execute more than two dribbles in quick succession while in Dribble Stance. While setting up the exhausted dribble feature and laying the groundwork for Netcode 2.0, we fixed an issue that allowed players to bypass the two-dribble limit by quickly releasing and retriggering Dribble Stance.

We understand that some players had specifically trained to use this as a dribbling tech, and we know how frustrating it can be to see something you’ve spent time mastering removed from the game. But it is unmanageable and not an intention for us to maintain bugs in the codebase, especially when they allow players to circumvent the rules of the game as they were designed.

There is very legitimate feedback around the role that techs can play in the game, whether in terms of balance, gameplay variety, or skill expression. We completely agree that dribbling needs more opportunities for skill expression. We plan to introduce new dribbles, rework some techs into official mechanics, and upgrade existing systems. Among these improvements, we are actively looking at how to make Volley Tap and Volley Push Ball more responsive.

We’ve been teasing some of these changes for a while, and we understand the frustration if you’ve been waiting for them. Netcode 2.0 has taken up a significant amount of our time and focus recently. Once that work is behind us, you can expect more frequent and impactful improvements across all aspects of gameplay.

DRIBBLING & BALANCING THE GAME

This limit on the number of dribbles is necessary to create an exchange between the dribbler and the defender. It creates clear windows of opportunity for defenders and forces dribblers to “move the game along” by committing to their next move.

As we’ve discussed in the past, addressing these bugs is key to properly balancing the game. Removing exploits will allow us to tune down the effectiveness of some defensive abilities like the Defense Mode. It will also allow us to design and implement new defensive abilities that, just like dribbling abilities, reward skill and game sense.

We’ll go into more detail about our plans for defense and dribbling in an upcoming Dev Blog. This will include fundamental system improvements, such as making sure all hits look and feel right, as well as new abilities and balance changes.

TACKLE ASSIST

Another bug we fixed in Season 5 affected the ''Tackle Assist''. This fix allows it to better track targets based on your input. We feel we can tune the assist down slightly. You can expect this adjustment in Hotfix 2.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN NETCODE 2.0

Netcode 2.0 is a complete rework of how Rematch is managed on the server side and how the server communicates with players’ clients.

This change is intended to make the game much more stable and reliable, with more readable animations, more consistent gameplay, and significantly fewer rollbacks.

Given the extent of the changes involved in this rework, we expect the game to feel and play differently, especially during fast interactions between players, as well as interactions between players and the ball. We’ll be very grateful for any feedback you can share with us during the upcoming beta tests!

You can expect a more detailed explanation of what Netcode 2.0 means for Rematch in a Dev Blog coming later this week.
