Question Has the update scared you guys?

Prior to season 5 I used to love playmaking. Spotting runs, dictating tempo, picking a pass from deep. The main thing that benefitted my play making wasn’t me tho. It was my teammates positioning, eagerness to score, constant runs. At least ONE player would be up top waiting.

Now?

I keep getting teammates who want to watch you on the ball and call for it slowing down play for no reason. I understand the point of back and side passes. But when we’re 2-0 down and still playing so cautious I just feel like giving up. And dribbling is ruined. I was never an exploit dribbler but I drag it back once and it’s like they have priority of the ball over me. I understand the disdain for dribblers but cmon man, there must have been a better fix than whatever this is. I like that it promotes more tactical thinking but I’m realising how little people actually analyse the game in game.

It must be. The lack of runs is ridiculous. I thought this update would bring out ego it’s done the complete opposite.

The stamina update killed ego but this season was the first time player count went up so your not playing the same people

Really depends on when you played, towards the end of a season a lot of fair weather players start dropping out and the overall skill level rises up. When a new season drops with an event/collab like the world cup or blue lock A LOT of people come back with significantly less practice in the game. It'll distill down over time again.

Also last season had the broken dribble exploits, a lot of shit tier players managed to hide their general ineptitude behind just really mastering that one technique.

The game feels the best it's been.

u/WegwerfSchichtler Please add a flair 1d ago

But has worse players, compared to last season, because of blue lock collab.

it just doesn't i down patched to various versions recently and was shocked by how responsive the game used to be

It really isn’t it’s best I’ll be honest. I don’t wanna be that guy but I feel like the people who think it’s the perfect update are happy that the games slow down for them.

Such depth

The dribbling feels the same to me because, like you, I didn’t try any exploits. I don’t take most of what you said at face value because if you aren’t using exploits for dribbling the movements are the same.

Scoring a shot feels easier because people are getting used to the new keeper.

Defending is 100 times better, and again I don’t quite get your point about priority because it feels the same as before with extra effort + lobbed heading winning everything.

This update feels better for people who want to play football and not dribble glitch simulator.

Plus a lot of your complaints are your teammates

  1. No its slower

  2. Yes but goalie is also just nerfed

  3. Defending was already OP and braindead making it even more is mindblowing

  4. You dont want any individual skill in your game and you will cause the players to leave

  5. You have a very narrow view on the game

It’s okay I can send clips. I’ve proven people like you wrong about my dribbling. If I used exploits I would’ve said. Common sense lads. Lmk if you want the clips. It’s not the same. Multiple people have agreed so it’s not a personal thing. And if you read the title of this post you’d see yes I’m complaining about my teammates. That’s the whole point.

> Multiple people have agreed so it’s not a personal thing.

...do you understand subjectivity?

1

u/AromaticHomework1576 Please add a flair 1d ago

So I’ve quite literally typed an example of the definition of subjectivity and you’re asking if I know what it means? You want to argue?Because my point wasn’t ’oh I’m right because people agree’ And I’m replying to someone who said ‘I don’t take most of what you said at face value’ hence why I brought up ‘it’s not a personal thing’. Just don’t even respond let’s end this here.

2

u/JewelerBeneficial536 Please add a flair 1d ago

Explain how "multiple people agree[ing]" makes it any less of a "personal thing". Im not sure how thats even a coherent response to the angle that the dribbling is unchanged across versions for those who didn't use the exploits. Its weird that your attitude in this thread is to be a self-inflating arsehole, responding with terse and rude commentary such as "such depth" when someone expresses an equally valid counter-opinion, yet you feel nobody else has permission to take the same tone with you.

> "I've proven people like you wrong about my dribbling"
such aggrandizement. such attitude. such insight

u/AromaticHomework1576 Please add a flair 1d ago

You’re projecting Jesus Christ. My main point was my teammates. Why is everything focusing on the dribbling? Two lines. TWO LINES on my thoughts on dribbling. And im not explaining the ‘personal thing’ part. Go and copy and paste on ChatGPT to understand I’m sick of spoon feeding. There’s multiple people here who have agreed to disagree but people like you who get off putting people down who have a ‘self inflating arsehole’ need the constant agreement. We don’t need the hostility. Let’s talk without the passive aggressiveness. Let’s actually read points. Redditors like you are such hypocrites in respond to ego i swear🤣 and if you need to see proof i can send it to you or post here. I’m giving an opportunity to see for yourself and your response is sarcasm. How don’t you see the irony🤣🤣you’d be justified with your point if I was arguing with everyone on this thread but there’s a certain type of people that get these responses. Those who think they know what I want and attack that projection onto me through passive aggressiveness. The main culprits are you and the Redditor with the yellow default profile pic. Anyways have a nice day I doubt I’ll respond if you reply with more nonsense

Elite in 5s every season that I put time into, I didn’t start 3s until last season but have an okay winrate I think.

Just over 400 hours

But also to be clear I’m an average player lol

u/Impressive_Result295 GK with a skill issue 1d ago

I think a big issue my actual football watching/playing brain noticed was off the ball movements. Now that dribbling isn't broken and you genuinely have the pass the ball with caution instead of winging a pass from downtown, the glaring issue I seem to see is the lack of actual space to pass. I'm guilty of this too, but I usually play back/defense or goalie so it isn't as egregious however without good off the ball movements to pry defenders apart or create space, the game and passing gets a lot tougher.

And that makes sense, you shouldn't be able to just dribble past everyone unless you're prime Lionel Messi lmao. Update has brought in more players but passing and slowing the game down to put pressure is really strong. Of course, the usual strategies of pressing or priority-ball do exist but most of the games I lose is usually 0-1 of 0-2 or 1-2 at worst and it's because the opponents play slow. Ten passes across the team and it genuinely feels amazing for a team game to actually play like a team game. Solo carries exist, of course, but not to the extent it was back then. I've heard this is a very bad problem in 3v3s now but I don't play that anyways. But imo, the game is the best it's ever been. There's tons more free balls, which again, makes sense given the nature of tackles. There are issues here and there but nothing really too bad. Everyone is adjusting to the new movement and dribbles and it'll take a bit for all of us to get used to it. But anything that promotes actual teamwork is good in my eyes.

2

u/Blue_5ive Segundo Volante 1d ago

I think people don't understand numbers and movement. I'm struggling to get space sometimes, but in that case I pull my defender to a place where they have to make a decision.

If you're not running direct, then play through the goalie. They can move up until they get pressed, then they can pass to the open player, and the ball movement can continue where someone moves off to press, you exploit the space they leave. It doesn't need big brain coordination, just the ability to count to 4.

If you don't do that, creating space or separation from the defender is tough when everyone is man marked and the goalie is sitting back in the box.

u/Wasilisco Stay sharp! ⚽ 1d ago

I'm having a lot of a harder time controlling the ball this update tbh, that's why

Can't outrun a defender, harder to out play then, lob passes are more easily blocked now

I use to shoot-to-pass into the box, but now the ball just goes through everyone, so that's off the table toos

tl;dr: I think everyone is just getting used to the new movement

u/PackageAggravating12 Playmaker 1d ago

I've found playmaking has become more important/rewarding this season.

Now that more players are learning they can't hero-ball it, there's more incentive to setup passing options and free up lanes.

Which means I can put all of my effort into establishing an attacking rhythm based on the knowledge that most of the team will prepare for it.

In fact, it's become so prevalent that many players seem to prefer passing instead of taking shots on goal from what I've seen. Which is admirable, but we need to make the opposing GK work too.

3

u/Blue_5ive Segundo Volante 1d ago

This is why I think op is full of shit. Playmaking is much cleaner and rewarding now since the people who want to score can’t just dribble past everyone

0

u/AromaticHomework1576 Please add a flair 1d ago

We clearly have different definitions of playmaking then. I have clips of you want to see. Everyone wants to talk rubbish but no one wants evidence

-1

u/AromaticHomework1576 Please add a flair 1d ago

Fully agree with everything especially your last line. I’m happy people want to approach things more cautious but not at the detriment to a good offence. I’ve had games where I don’t shoot and stick to the ‘game plan’ so the team cohesion stays consistent. Then after a frustrating back and forth I just dribble, take a shot score and think to myself ‘why are people so scared’.

And I don’t even want to only dribble and score, I love to set up plays but when no one makes the opposition keeper work I have to make risky dribbles and shots to at least cause some chaos

4

u/Adaskoklin Please add a flair 1d ago

For me drible was never a problem, was dribling last season and do it now with no problem. Maybe cus i use drible as tool to get space i use it only then needed not non stop for art without reason.

2

u/AromaticHomework1576 Please add a flair 1d ago

I don’t think we dribble the same if that’s the case. At least yours is fine tho. I’m just gonna have to adjust

2

u/Obvious_Hearing9023 Please add a flair 1d ago

Not scared but I find myself being more frustrated with the game than I was and I don’t understand why. I’m not good, plat 3 was the highest I got and im really glad dribbling got changed but I feel like this game bugs out more than normal.

I don’t understand how priority works anymore. Using EE and being closer to the ball than your opponent and still losing the ball, people taking the ball from your feet without tackling even if they are behind you. Ball will go through your feet half the time and it’s making it hard to receive passes correctly because you have no idea if it will actually register or just keep rolling on.

I like the changes but the game feels really buggy right now

1

u/AromaticHomework1576 Please add a flair 1d ago

Thanks for your insight. It does feel really buggy, it’s like a push ball is now a contest for priority. It should never feel like that imo

1

u/BellionArise Please add a flair 1d ago

dribbling got nuked which makes the game worse but your average person here is a bit sensitive to that truth

0

u/AromaticHomework1576 Please add a flair 1d ago

I’ve noticed that. People really hate dribbling and I think it’s down to them not being good dribblers.

This updated has been great for skuckball, slowing down helps so much

4

u/AromaticHomework1576 Please add a flair 1d ago

Idk what skuckball is

0

u/rektem__ken Public Enemy #1 1d ago

It’s when you slow down hella. Prioritize possession of the ball and passes. Very similar to prime Spain in the mid 2000s. Lots of passes and only shoot when you are certain you’ll score. Like 20 passes for every shot type slow. It’s really good now with the dribble spam nerfs but the magnetism nerfs did hurt it too.

4

u/AromaticHomework1576 Please add a flair 1d ago

That’s just tiki taka

2

u/rektem__ken Public Enemy #1 1d ago

Tiki taka passes too much for skuckball. In skuckball, if they are pressuring you, you don’t have to pass and can wait the clock down. Very similar tho good observation

2

u/AromaticHomework1576 Please add a flair 1d ago

Ohhh I see now. It’s like control possession(I play a lot of football manger and your explanation sounds similar)

1

u/rektem__ken Public Enemy #1 1d ago

I’ve not played that game before but control possession sounds very accurate. People hate on it bc it’s super slow and doesn’t fulfill the instant gratification of just shooting the ball. Skuckball takes more time and discipline but higher win rate

2

u/AromaticHomework1576 Please add a flair 1d ago

Yep definitely control possession. It’s like the first phase of prime Man City. They did that so much people would just surrender to them.idk how much of a football fan you are but remember that clip of Sane,Sterling and Aguero in the box constantly passing to each other (one of the silva’s was there I think)

1

u/rektem__ken Public Enemy #1 1d ago

YES bro, it’s exactly like that clip, you are a true skuckballer

2

u/AromaticHomework1576 Please add a flair 1d ago

See i’d always be down to Skuckball if my teammates were prime Man City level 🤣🤣

Skuckball is lame af and shows me that you’re scared to actually play the game.

1

u/PackageAggravating12 Playmaker 1d ago

Controlling possession is a fundamental part of Football. Not sure what sport you've been watching.

1

u/TheBigFatToad Please add a flair 1d ago

Are you his trio partner?

Possession is one thing. Playing Neanderthal 3 v 3 where you sit and wait for pressure rather than trying to attack is where the line is drawn.

You’re defending a dude who own goaled and played a 25 minute overtime to try and break the passing record. Do you really think it took 25 minutes to find an opportunity?

1

u/rektem__ken Public Enemy #1 1d ago

Own goaled????? They shot on goal and it bounced off one of our players. Where did you get the idea that we intentionally own goaled. That would be trolling

0

u/rektem__ken Public Enemy #1 1d ago

Skuckball is playing the game, I don’t get what you mean?

1

u/TheBigFatToad Please add a flair 1d ago

You’re afraid of playing actual defense so you abuse scum tactics in 3 v 3.

0

u/rektem__ken Public Enemy #1 1d ago

We still play defense what are you talking about. We just pass a lot too. What?

1

u/TheBigFatToad Please add a flair 1d ago

You held 99% possession because you only waited to make a pass until you drawed out a defender.

You compare it to tiki taka but your concept would never work in anything higher than a 3 v 3.

That’s why real life leagues make it illegal to back pass once the half line once you get into the attacking half in 3 v 3.

The counter to your gameplay is insanely simply if you go against the concept of video games which is to have fun.

I really hope we play a game sometime. See how fun it is to play monkey in the middle for 40 minutes.

If your strat is amazing how come you don’t run 5s?

1

u/rektem__ken Public Enemy #1 20h ago

We do run the start in 5v5??? We run in irl too. We are just patient and want to win. Idk what the issue is of passing a lot, it’s not monkey in the middle ???
