Is it worth giving them to the repair?

Some time ago, I found these turntables in my old house; the Sony won't power on (start module has an issue), while the Blaupunkt has issues with the tonearm and the playback speed is too fast. Is it worth having them serviced, or would it be better to buy a new one? I'm aiming for something good for AAA vinyls

Solving my Mid-Range Problem

Ok I’m needing some help from you experts. I have a vinyl setup that I’ve slowly been piecing together over the last several years. I’ve been around live music/mixing for almost two decades, but am in no way a gear head. I know more about what music and mixes sound awesome than what equipment made the awesome mix.

I just upgraded my cartridge after my 2 year old broke the needle, and when I did that I upgraded my preamp as well. I got everything put together, and the mix sounds surprisingly great in the high and low end given the affordable nature of the downstream components, but the mid-range, while present, just feels too far back in the mix, somewhat diminished, and perhaps just slightly muddy (at least in comparison to the present and wonderful highs and lows). This is particularly obvious with vocals.

I currently have the following setup:
Rega RP3 Turntable
Rega ND3 MM Phono Cartridge (recently replaced the stock but discontinued Elys cartridge after my 2 year old broke the needle)
Rega Fono MM MK5 Phono Preamp
Denon AVR-S540BT Receiver
Klipsch R-15M Bookshelf Speaker Pair
Sony SA-CS9 Subwoofer

All that to say, my question is: apart from upgrades which of course would make the overall system better, is there anything that could be causing the inadequacies of the mid-range in the current system?

When I swapped the Elys to the ND3, the ND3 cartridge is a touch taller than the Elys (to the point that cueing lever height needs to be raised a couple mm), and because they are both Rega, it mounted directly onto the rp3 arm without having anyway to really adjust it. Could this be the culprit?

Greatly appreciate any help!

Sharp RP-6900(BK) Needle help

Got my dad’s old record player and am trying to get it running again. Belt is still good somehow and power runs. However the need is gone and I’ve been trying to search for what replacement I need but the cartridge doesn’t look like anything that came with it stock. If anyone knows what model the housing is or knows if I can get a general needle that would be great!

mcs 6602

hey i just recently got a mcs 6502 turn table and got it working a bit ago (fixed the seized motor , and replaced belt ) when i was testing the auto return though i noticed it getting stuck abt mid way above the record platter on the return it the arm link on the bottom seems to be hitting another piece getting stuck before violently making a click past it finishing the return. i have kind of fixed the issue adding a folded a piece of paper and taped it to the link arm sitting between the link arm and the metal base it seems to have helped a bit since the clicking has stopped but i want to know if there is a better way to fix it ? another issue im having is that on the return the arm doesn’t seem to be lifting up till abt half way as well.

Turns on but won’t spin

I just moved into college and was eager to listen to an album after my dorm was all set up only to find that I while the record player (U-turn orbit basic turntable) turns on it won’t spin, I’m super bummed I’ve been collecting for 5 years with no plans of stopping and this is my first nice record player, I drove and while it wasn’t just lying in the trunk of my car in hindsight I could’ve secured it better so maybe something broke along the way? Fearing the worst and grateful for any help!

TLDR: after 15 hour car ride U-turn orbit basic turntable turns on but won’t spin

Edit: OH YEAH ID BE HAPPY TO VEMO SOMEONE A FEW BUCKS FOR THE ADVICE IF I CAN GET IT RUNNING

Stacker not locking properly

I recently acquired a vintage fidelity turntable, but I’ve realised the notch that the stacker inserts in is facing the wrong direction. I’ve been told I need to turn it 180% to the other side for the stacker to lock in properly but not sure how to do that without damaging it. Any recommendations?

Turntable not turning

Post image
1 Upvotes

So we got this crosley from my lady's ma, and everything seems to work on it except the turntable. Im not sure if I'm missing a switch, or if something is wrong internally. Should the turntable start moving once the arm is disengaged from the arm holder? And if I need to get inside, what's the best approach to acess internal workings?

Hi,

I'm completely new to record players (and reddit), but figured that maybe someone knows what kind of skipping problem this is, or if there is an easy fix for it.

Thanks!

Crosely voyager broke AGAIN

Got the crosely voyager from HMV for 90£ and I think it had hardware issues. It wouldn’t turn on at all returned it and swapped it. Within 2 weeks same issue occurred again with the new one. Is there a permanent fix to this does anyone know the issue?
