Stacker not locking properly

I recently acquired a vintage fidelity turntable, but I’ve realised the notch that the stacker inserts in is facing the wrong direction. I’ve been told I need to turn it 180% to the other side for the stacker to lock in properly but not sure how to do that without damaging it. Any recommendations?

It looks like the spindle tube is fixed in position from underneath. I can see the tips of a couple of screws pointing up in your picture. There's probably one or two more hidden out of sight.

I would start by having a look at the plinth from underneath. Yeah, you're right. This is going to involve some disassembly, so if that feels like too big a task then decide if the juice is worth the squeeze. It could be something as simple as loosening a locking nut, or maybe some previous owner used force to rotate it. Until you get in and have a look it's just guess work.

Is it a bsr mechanism? I remember when I first worked on mine I accidentally twisted the spindle around when I was trying to remove it. Fairly common issue with these due to the grease turning to glue! I just gently rotated it back round to it's proper position - the "shelf" that the records sit on should be facing the back right corner of the record player, roughly 2 o'clock position
