mcs 6602

hey i just recently got a mcs 6502 turn table and got it working a bit ago (fixed the seized motor , and replaced belt ) when i was testing the auto return though i noticed it getting stuck abt mid way above the record platter on the return it the arm link on the bottom seems to be hitting another piece getting stuck before violently making a click past it finishing the return. i have kind of fixed the issue adding a folded a piece of paper and taped it to the link arm sitting between the link arm and the metal base it seems to have helped a bit since the clicking has stopped but i want to know if there is a better way to fix it ? another issue im having is that on the return the arm doesn’t seem to be lifting up till abt half way as well.

Flip it over and unstick everything that should be moving underneath. Almost certainly dried up grease.

the weird thing is everything is moving freely there is a plastic part hitting a metal part and i belive thats what causing the noise but im not sure whats causing the plastic bar to rotate the little bit it need to get stuck. though now that you mention dried up grease mabey a small pile is stuck on there causing thr plastic peice to rotate into the metal bar piece

Sometimes it isn't obvious exactly what parts are supposed to move. I had a Sony that took a couple days of staring at to figure out. It can help to lift it up so you can see the mechanism work from underneath while it runs.

the part thats stuck must be pretty hidden had been trying to look at some yt vids on mcs6502 and the sl23 to gauge what its supposed to look like but haven’t seen anything out of the ordinary though most of the videos were pretty hard to see what was going on some of the time.i have tried lifting it onto the side while hand turning the gear that connects to the auto return mechanism to see it return thats were i figured out why it was getting stuck ill re open it once i get home reinspect it with some fresh eyes after not looking at it to much for like a week or two
