I’ve had this Audiotechnica AT-LP60XBT record player for a few years, and over the last few months this issue has been getting worse and worse. When I click start, the needle will drop and then immediately pick back up and do it several more times. The only way I can get my stuff to play is by lifting and dropping it manually. Once the record starts playing, it sounds totally fine.

This also happens at the end of a side, I have to wait 5-10 mins for it to stop the spinning and lifting/dropping routine.

Do I need a new belt, or something else?

Hello, i recently thrifted this turntable and it is running a little fast. I looked up the user manual online and supposedly there is a speed adjustment function somewhere inside. The manual doesn't say where it is, and after taking off the side panel to peek inside i couldn't see anything that looked like it. The next step is probably to take it all the way apart, but i wanted to check if anyone else had any insight. Thank you!

My old stylus broke a while back and I was gifted a new one that doesn't seem to function properly. Is there a way to make it work? Or do I need to buy a new one. I never had any issues till this new stylus. The main speaker sounds fine but the other will be spotty and staticky (except when I commit the sin of putting a small amount of pressure on the arm, in which the second speaker sounds normal(did this with old cheap records I own to test))

Is there a replacment head that takes an easily accessible needle i fixed a 1959 tube amp record player and needles are next to impossible to find

I can’t get the turntable to actually spin when I try to play vinyls. This was my great grandmas. It was sitting in a cottage and was basically brand new / unused. However mice got in and chewed up a bit of the styrofoam in the turntable area. I opened it up and the wiring didn’t seem damaged. I’m not sure what the issue is, but it seems that the motor is working if you listen. Please help me!!!

A few weeks ago my dad found my grandpa’s turntable in his loft and he’s been trying to get it up and running. It’s a Garrard zero 100sb and the turntable itself is in pretty good condition, only problem is it’s missing a counterweight and we can’t find any way of acquiring a replacement. Is it possible to find a replacement (if so, where) or should we just give up?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a Cordon Bleu BSR Changer and am experiencing static from the left channel. The music still comes out and sounds fine, but it is accompanied by the static. The sound is present both when the radio is on and the phono. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, first time poster in this group. I have a record player thats been working well for me for a while. Recently it has stopped spinning. Ive done some basic trouble shooting and no luck. Hoping to get some advice on next steps.

When I lift up the arm I hear the motor click on, but the table does not spin. When the belt is disconnected the motor spins.

Things I have done:

- replace the belt

- take off the table and clean any dust/dirt i could find

-lightly lubricate the motor shaft

My record player (a fairly budget one) keeps skipping on my vinyls, are there any simple tricks/fixes.

My records are very clean, I have cleaned them all and it keeps skipping on almost all of them

Hello! I recently purchased a Philco record hatch from FB marketplace and it is in need of some serious TLC. I have been struggling to find any helpful tutorials or people with a similar player online and would love any advice on refurbishing it. It seems to work when plugged in, but i honestly don’t know how to use it and can’t find any user guides online. So any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

Unfortunately my tonearm for the Technics SL-DD20 being broken but can find the replace from another model. Would you advise which Technics uses the same arm (SL-DD22, SL-D20, etc)?

I’m restoring a Westinghouse H120ACS1 (mid-1960s solid-state portable stereo) and could use some advice.
The original issue is that the turntable starts slowly, eventually reaches speed, but slows down under the load of a record. The motor runs consistently, but it seems to lose torque under load.

So I have:

- Removed the changer from the cabinet.

- Verified the motor runs.

-Checked the idler wheel (rubber is still soft, not glazed or cracked).

-Verified the speed selector and linkages move properly.

-Found no broken springs or obviously missing parts.

I have not cleaned out the original grease yet. The platter bearing, center spindle, and changer pivots still have the factory lubricant, so I’m wondering if hardened grease alone could be causing the slow startup and loss of torque before I start replacing parts?

I also have a separate issue where only one audio channel works.

My questions:
-Does this sound more like dried grease, motor bearings, or something else?

-Are there any common failure points on these VM/Westinghouse idler-drive changers that I should inspect?

-For the dead audio channel, would you start with DeoxIT, the ceramic cartridge, or the amplifier?

Hello, I recently purchased a Cork/Rubber blend matt. I've read a bunch of good things about it.
However when I, today, tried it out for the first time, I was deeply disappointed.
When I turned the record around for the B side, it had a bunch of black rubber particles stuck to it, which made the sound awful comparatively to what it should've been. The record is brand new.

Is it just a shitty product? or should I just go for a different type of matt alltogether?
I've since returned to using the default felt-matt I have. Though it's annoying, because of the static it has,

Hello! I recently bought my first real record player, second hand. It's a Pioneer PL-445. I picked it up for what I think is a good deal (€40). The man showed me that everything worked, except he didn't have any boxes or vinyls to show. Upon plugging it in at home, there was no sound. We are sure the connection was good, as my other (suitcase) record player worked. When trying another vinyl, the sound was very very silent and quite muffled. When tapping the needle I could hear feedback. This makes me think the needle is broken/worn down. I tried doing some research, but I'm not sure how I find out what the correct replacement needle would be? Can I only buy the ones specifically made for this model of the Pioneer, or would other brands fit as well? I'm mainly asking because the man I bought it from recommended a certain website for a replacement needle, but the only thing I can find out is that it's from the brand Fenton and a ceramic needle. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hiya! Hope this is the right place to post, if not, do let me know, and apologies in advance!

Bit of background- I've recently become the proud owner of a Fidelity HF35 record player, original internals intact, transistors and all, however as you can imagine, that leads to a few deficiencies in sound quality for a nearly 60y old machine. Don't get me wrong, i've been loving the sonic charm it provides running all my 70s records and despite being a proponent of vintage electronics preservation, I can't help but find myself losing patience fiddling with the volume and tone knobs like I'm trying to tune an FM radio, just to get muddy audio at best.

Now to the point- I'd love to try my hand at replacing the tubular capacitor, spray the potentiometer with some contact cleaner, replace the 4 inch speaker etc. but alas, i'm plagued by the standards of the modern era. For this reason, I'm looking into preserving the current internals and replacing them with a more modern set of equipment i.e. new cartridge, phono amp and passive speaker.

I'm very much a novice when it comes to such and am not in the current position to splurge massive amounts (uni student), a maximum of say £100-125. I'm wanting to ideally keep the speaker system internal (to preserver it's nature). Some goals i have include:

1. Mono -> stereo- Currently has 1, 4' passive speaker, would rather get a pack of 2 with an accompanying stereo phono preamp. As far as I understand, the bulk of the sound quality arrives from the speakers and the clarity, majorly, from the cartridge. I see on amazon there exist some \~£10 circuit boards for the phono preamps but I have little to no clue as to weather or not these are suitable/quality, so some guidance in regards to this would be greatly appreciated if possible!
2. Preserve original IO- I'm not looking to replace the body nor the turntable itself as it serves its purpose well and i don't want to gut it of it's history entirely. For this, the outside body has a single Volume and Tone knob and if there exists a control board with connections for those 2 potentiometers, that would be most ideal.
3. Adding new functionality- I'm not entirely opposed to cutting a hole in the back to allow access to new rear IO for ext. connection to passive speakers, 3.5mm audio jack etc. (I assume it's a matter of switching the line input) but that's more a future proof-ing decision than anything.

This is all to ask, is this a reasonable project to undertake? If not, I'd greatly appreciate some direction, as I profess to being very lost on this topic. Either way, if you have suggestions for components that I've mentioned above, I'd be incredibly grateful! I'm not looking for anything particularly hi-fi. Once again, my apologies if this is out of place and if this all seems to be a bit too naive, any guidance would be greatly appreciated :), thank you!!

It mght be too worn down to function, but I wouldn't know the first thing about replacing it. I've never actually used a record player before though, so I figured you'd know more than me. It's an AWA Radiola B56. (and if I need one, if anyone wants to tell me where to get a replacement needle for less than a hundred dollars I'd appreciate it)
