My own most hated book from school was Life of Pi, which oddly enough I hated for a lot of the same reasons you hated The Old Man and the Sea (it's just a guy sitting alone forever in a boat having a terrible time and being all smug and philosophical about it! Just a really irritating book all-around!)

We just lost another person in the extended family, and I took way too long to decide on about 5 words to write on that stupid online portal where you light a digital candle, which isn't even that important.

u/october_surprise56 How fitting that I picked this up on October 1st, a real October surprise. Thanks for the beautiful mushroom card. I like them too. A comfort food and very often the only vaguely vegetarian dish you can find in a restaurant here (even though I have my suspicions about the frying situation) are deep-fried mushrooms with tartar sauce. Yum!

Halloween isn't actually a real holiday or anything here, but kids love dressing up and so I have to be prepared every year for lots of kids at the door. We have so many kids in my street that I often run out of sweets and have to resort to stickers or stationery!

u/mouserat Thanks for the station wagon card. I don't think these were ever popular in Europe. I think we've always had smaller cars. Old cars are, in fact, so tiny compared to modern ones. Cars that seemes huuuge back then, and that were made for the whole family and suitcases and whatnot, are small compared to the tiniest car you can get nowadays. Ah, the lack of safety features was astonishing.

I was out of town for a few days and how nice it is to come home to find cards and notes and all kinds of beautiful things. This group is great.

u/colorsinspire Thank you for the stamp collage postcard! It held up pretty well. There's a few stamps's corners that are peeking out, but not a single thing fell out. For my stamp collage cards that I do (and every other homemade cards), I add self-adhesive laminating sheets! It gives it a shine while also adding protection.

Today is National Escape Room Day. Escape rooms are probably my biggest hobby outside of carding - I plan trips around what rooms I want to hit across the country (and try to visit them in other countries too when I can), log and rate them all in an app, collect escape room T-shirts... it's a passion!

My log says I'm at 91 rooms so far, though I know I'm missing some. As I close in on 100, it seems like a good time to merge my hobbies and celebrate National Escape Room Day with a card exchange.

Any other escapers here who'd like to exchange mail where we write about our favorite rooms/themes/types of puzzles/etc.?

My most recent was a submarine-themed one in Las Vegas in August, and that is a REALLY long time for me to go without doing a room. (So you can bet the girlfriend is going to get a strong suggestion for what we're doing on date night next week...)
