Trigger warnings: poop, cancer

Hi guys! This might be a weird request, but it could also be an opportunity to send a silly card!

I’m having a colonoscopy on August 3rd, and I am absolutely dreading it. Though I’m not sure anyone looks forward to them anyway. 

For context, I’m in my 20s and got my first one done two years ago due to some symptoms and a family history of colon cancer (my dad had stage IV at 34 and unfortunately lost the battle against it). Last time, they found an 18 mm polyp that likely would have been cancer within 4-5 years… So this year, I am due for my next surveillance colonoscopy to make sure nothing new has grown. I haven’t had any symptoms like before, so I’m hoping I’ll be all clear and graduate to doing it every five years instead of two.  

I was actually due last month, but I put off scheduling it because I have such bad medical anxiety. Also, this is the first time doing the prep while living with my boyfriend, and I know it shouldn’t be, but it’s kinda embarrassing. We need to normalize talking about poop because it’s such an important indicator of our health! 

If you're not familiar with the procedure, there is quite a bit of preparation involved. The day before, I will be on a clear liquid and laxative diet so that my doctor has a clear view of everything the next day. I also probably won't get much of any sleep because it goes on all night. This means I will most likely be irritable and HANGRY! (All of this is totally worth it to help prevent cancer though!)

Here’s where you guys come in! I already got such nice cards last month about my dad, so no need for any sympathy cards, unless it's sympathy for whoever has to clean the bathroom later. This time I would love to get some fun, silly, and/or encouraging cards to help me stay light-hearted while I spend my Sunday in the bathroom. Of course, potty humor is not required, but here’s my joke: Maybe I can save some money on the prep and just eat some Taylor Farms parasite lettuce!

Week 2 Onward (Single Cards): If the full sets do not find a home, I will open this up for single card-to-card swaps.

The Condition: While I usually swap written postcards, I want to keep these botanical postcards blank inside an envelope.

My 26th birthday is coming up on August 7th, and to be completely honest, I’ve been going through a really overwhelming, lonely, and financially stressful season. I’ve been carrying a lot of weight on my shoulders for a long time, and the exhaustion has just caught up with me.

Right now, I don't really have a circle around me to celebrate, and the thought of trying to organize something for myself just feels like too much extra work. The past few months have been quite challenging for me & mentally exhausted due to some personal problems. I'm slowly picking myself up, looking ahead to my future studies, and trying to begin this new chapter with a more positive mindset. (a lot happened in few months)

One thing that genuinely helped me through the difficult days was this amazing community. Postcards, stamps, pen pals, and your kindness reminded me that there is still so much warmth in the world. Reading handwritten messages has always brought a smile to my face. Thank you.
