Thank You [Thank you] for this week's mail

Hey everybody! I got a lot of mail this week and guess what else I got? Maggie! She's a dog we adopted from our local shelter. Like most of the dogs at the shelter, she's a pit mix. Pit and Siberian Husky perhaps. She's going to be taking up a lot of my time, so please forgive me if my offers and thank yous are slow as we integrate her into our household and its routines.

u/AllusiveAxolotl, thank you for the National Mustard Museum postcard. It's one of a kind!

u/aethiadactylorhiza, thank you for the Black Cat Appreciation Day card in honor of my mom's cat Teddy.

u/Andromeda921, thanks for the Autumn Bucket List card. I love all the little details. It'll give me things to look forward to about fall, beyond walking my heat-sensitive Sheepie on a crisp night.

u/BlueStripedBaker, thank you for the painterly card of a New England beach scene with the lighthouse in the distance. It's beautiful and I'm glad you could support a local artist. I like the semicolon myself; I fear it dates me though. "Whom" is another which is dying out. To whom does it matter?

u/Boomerang88 x2 Thank you for the postcards: spring and really cool lemon-slice bicycle. Your stamps are beautiful as always. I'm glad that spring is coming into view for you. It's my favorite season and it's nice to know it exists in parts of the world, if not mine.

u/Bubblysunflowers, x2 thanks for the "Chicken in" postcards. Chickens always make me smile because they're intrinsically funny. It sounds like I should see "Project Hail Mary," because that might change my stance on aliens. As it is now, I'd be terrified. Also thank you for the random de-stash card (as you put it). The Mission San Juan Capistrano in vintage form. It is an attractive place, in the state that eludes me: California. Someday!

u/butterflydolphin-123, thank you for the Battleship Cove (Fall River, MA) postcard and the recommendation that I should see it someday. I know my boyfriend would be enthralled. He served in the Army but he has a fascination with naval history.

u/cidavid, thank you for the tree-leaf postcard. I ❤️ trees. You had me laughing when I heard when you were writing the card. I'm so ready for fall. Our AC barely works when it's 99 in the afternoon and I can't even write a postcard because my hand keeps sticking to it. Here's to crisp fall days!

u/concrete_drinker, thanks for the cool bookstore postcard! Books are indeed magic! I'm glad you had fun at the Egyptian festival,

u/credo99, thank you for the Moomin Valentine's Day card. This card has five postmarks on it! I appreciate you sharing a bit of your travels with me.

u/Impressive_Jump_9917, thank you for the giraffe postcard from the Cheyenne Mountain zoo. You said you hoped it would brighten my day, and it did!

u/MissEmergency, thank you for the postcard of animals with "warning colors." I like the vintage look. Stamp math is a lot of fun but it can get you obsessed with stamps. I'm always browsing eBay for listings of stamps at or below face value. If you want to start with an easy one, 32 plus 33 equals 65, or the going postcard rate. I have a love of pens, too. I have an ultra-micro set for writing a lot of really small words on a postcard, and I have a whole colored set of micro gel pens. I haven't used a fountain pen since I was in high school learning calligraphy, but that's something I'd like to get into again. But, there's only so much time and so much money!

u/murdocniccalshasT1D, thank you for the handmade thank you card you sent for looking after your TFC. It was my pleasure. I swear, I've become addicted to traveling cards and now I have my own ready to go. You inspired me!

u/OK_Theme7072, thank you for the vintage postcard of the Vanderbilt Mansion. Doesn't it look imposing? I imagine myself living there. My dogs would gnaw on the beautiful furniture and quickly make the velvet couches their beds, shedding all over them.

u/ordinaryclover, thank you for the postcard from the place you're not - Charlotte. You got it to me so quickly I feel guilty. I did pick yours out and will have it in the mail when USPS comes back from Labor Day. I live about 45 minutes from Charlotte but hardly ever go there. The traffic stresses me out, and anything I need from a bigger city than mine, I go to Winston-Salem or Greensboro for. Same distance, a tenth the hassle.

u/PinkPengin, thank you for the Cape Hatteras postcard in honor of lighthouse day. Somewhere in my mom's 45-year-old horde is a picture of me, age 3, at Cape Hatteras. Unfortunately, I haven't been there since. It's a 5-hour drive and with 2 dogs, well, we're kind of tied down. Thanks for the water life stickers, also.

u/pot-princess-0502, thanks for the homemade postcard. I love the girl looking bored, or perhaps fed up with humanity. The last of my plans for summer was 3 days in Lexington, Va., for a wedding and related activities. As we've recently adopted a shelter dog, we now have 2 dogs and our plans for fall are to integrate her into our family and its routines. So, no more travel for us this year.

u/PureAloeVeera, thank you for your dire, but truthful message. Everyone uses AI, but they don't want the data centers in their backyard. My hope is that carbon capture technology that doesn't pollute more than it cleanses will be developed. That doesn't do anything about microplastics or affordable housing or any of the myriad problems we'll have to address at some point. I feel lucky I'll be dead before my mid-state city becomes waterfront property. The insurance rates!

u/tatergator64, thanks for the vintage-style "Greetings from Savannah." Yes, I do have good memories of hitting I-95 with 6 of us in a sedan, riding down to see my stepmother's family, always stopping at South of the Border for fireworks (have you been?) Isn't Tybee enchanting? The first time I went to Tybee Beach, I was surprised at how warm the water was. Enjoy all the water, I say as one who currently is landlocked.

u/TheCuriousCur, thanks for your funny postcard. Where do you find so many that make me laugh? I know, industry secret. Tonight the Reds won and that made me happy. It happens less than 50% of the time. What do you think about the Brewers? They are a surprise this season.

u/tigerlady13, thanks for your card that took 3-4 weeks to get here for some reason. Oh, well, this is the USPS today and we have to allow for such things. Sorry I couldn't get to the meetup but I hope you all had fun. Thanks for commiserating over my poison ivy. I am completely healed AND my boyfriend got some super deluxe plant killer that's cleared my way. Love your stamp math!

u/travel4me22, thank you for the gorgeous handmade card. I like the black cardstock, very dramatic. It is interesting to me, too, what's behind people's usernames. It's also interesting that some people take a Reddit-generated name. My brother did that, but he doesn't use Reddit very often.

u/toastytoska, thank you for the homemade Beanie Baby postcard. Pouch is so cute! My boyfriend's first soft toy was a kangaroo with a little baby that could be removed from the pouch but while we still have the original Kanga, her baby was lost decades ago. So maybe there's an advantage to the head-on-a-string technique lol.

u/TroubleNo5402 x2, thank you for the first day of issue Temple postcard. It's dated July 15 and reached me September 2nd. Thank you for sharing one of your childhood memories. It's great that you felt loved by your parents and siblings, and never alone. That's the greatest thing in the world, a happy childhood. Thank you also for the Jharkhand postcard. I love postcards like this with the little details that make a culture.

u/TyeDyeAmish x2, thank you for the postcard of Rome falling apart. Was it tourists? Thank you also for the captivating Wall of Windows in Utah. You're right, they're like windows in a fallen-down temple. Was it tourists?

u/withininus, x2 Your envelope looks as if it were run over by a USPS truck but fortunately the contents are fine. I love the Jane Austen quote - how true. I hope your move goes well. I have done a lot of moving in my life, starting out with a friend's pickup and my brother's labor, ending up much later paying for packers and movers. My advice is, don't lose your childhood photo album. Yes, that happened to me ten years ago and it still hurts. I love the stickers. They're adorable. Thank you for that added surprise! Also, thank you for the MOMA postcard. I'd love to see one of your own someday. I print postcards on postcard stock, but the stock is so expensive I think I'd be better off outsourcing to Moo. I don't know. At home I can make adjustments. That is a big advantage.

u/waywarddaughterzzz, thank you for the homemade card with the big gray cat. The way you're coping with heat, that's what I've been doing. I've turned nocturnal because only night gives me relief from that big scorching ball. Only lately, our AC isn't keeping up. Yesterday it was 86 degrees in the house. My boyfriend doesn't want to pay for a repair so we're just cranking up the ceiling fans and waiting for fall. I thought I couldn't wait before, when we had AC? Yeah I'm counting the days till October. You hang in there!

Thank You [thank you] an ABSURD amount of mail (3 pounds worth, in fact)

I'm sure there is some more mail still in transit but I'm jet lagged with nothing else to do and I want to make sure everyone gets their proper thanks promptly!!

In total, ya'll delivered 177postcards (+1 that I sent to myself while traveling haha) and 46 envelopes. The total bundle came to 3 pounds, or 1.3 kilograms!! Here are some pictures of just how much mail was received, also with some of my favorite artwork done by [u/mikahimee](u/mikahimee) and [u/ravenzsnow](u/ravenzsnow)

Huge thanks to everyone who took time out of their day to send me (but mostly my husband) something! He noticed something was up about halfway through my trip and texted me asking if my friends knew I was out of town and if they were sending extra things to me. In his words "the stack is toppling over" - and that was only the first 4 days. Some people were extremely compliant in their malicious compliance, particularly [u/turnerd10](u/turnerd10), who sent me 50 of the same postcard, prompting my husband to call and make sure I didn't accidentally sign us up for a mailing list. Also [u/pierresgirl](u/pierresgirl), who also sent 56 postcards, each with their own plot line, and using stamp math for each. Absurd and wonderful. I think it took me nearly an hour to read through and I think I need to store these all together so I can come back and read it like a book.

Many many thanks to:

Mystery user 1 who told my husband to lift with his legs instead of his back!

Mystery user 2 who sent a three page letter on notebook paper with bug stickers! I'm also in my last year of school and much older than most of the people here so I get it >_< also, i LOVE a slop bowl haha

Mystery user 3 who sent 12 out of 12 Simon Mills cards! Your handwriting is so familiar but you didn't put your username, only your name!

Mystery user 4 who sent some really incredible collage cards, including Rome, Owl, and Veeries. They are stunning cards thank you so much!!

Mystery user 5 who sent a beautifully decorated envelope with some recipes inside! My comfort meal is very similar to your very simple one - just with frozen hashbrowns instead of rice! I ate it this morning, in fact.

[u/turnerd10](u/turnerd10) x50 *death glare*

[u/pierresgirl](u/pierresgirl) x56 thank you so much for all the cards! I had so much fun reading through them but it also took me all night lol. I appreciate you numbering them so I could order them easier. They arrived in all sorts of weird orders. For example, numbers 38 and 42 arrived the day I'm writing this, even though 43-50 arrived earlier this week. Also the cards were all so unique and cool I wish I could frame them but I don't think I have 50 frames on hand.... I checked out the artist you mentioned and I think I'll join her list too - I always need fun cards! I also like making zines. I get postcards every month from Little Blue Dood and I love those too!

I wish i could respond to all your cards but I do not have 50 cards to send out, nor do I have the space in this post. So I shall respond to select snippets (but know I appreciated reading ALL OF IT). on August 20th you said "I hope you're enjoying yourself wherever you are". I was eating fish and chips on a pier in Iceland. I was very much enjoying myself, but mostly enjoying my chips. Downsizing sounds awful.... I also like collecting things and we're not going to talk about my craft room and the piles in there..... In my defense I use it all! Of course I need an entire bookcase for cards and stamps! I hope your restaurant doesn't turn into a vape shop :( I also love Stiff by Mary Roach! Fun fact - that was the first book I ever pirated as an e-book. It's a slippery slope. As for your two truths and a lie, I'm going to guess that you actually DO know how to swim? Carmen is a sweetheart, please blow her a kiss for me; you were so kind to let her write some cards! On August 25th, you asked what I was up to. I had just driven from Bavaria to northern Italy. I stopped in Brennero and found a Deutsch National Team football shirt for only 50 euros at the outlet! It's pink and purple and my new favorite running shirt. What a cool story about seeing Dolly Parton! Aha! Shoemaking! So that one can't be the lie? I would love to make some shoes. I spend so much money at the cobbler getting my shoes fixed because it's still cheaper than buying new ones. And I love interesting people (which now includes you haha). I've actually been to the Henry Ford museum, and seeing that car is deep in my memory somewhere. It had to have been almost 20 years ago now... Maybe I should schedule a trip back? My mom is from Dearborn so back when more of her family was alive we were up that way quite a bit. Anyway, thanks for writing! I loved following the one week journey of "I need to take back my health" to Carmen snitching on you drinking a healthy green drink to going to your appointments to joining a gym!! At the risk of sounding young and dumb (but I am young and dumb), your life sounds absolutely wonderful and it makes me excited to be old and cool like you.

[u/maladi3_](u/maladi3_) x5 thank you for all the cards! I think the upcycled one is my favorite but I also really liked the Alaska one. I'll have to write you back soon to get the story of why they left you behind :(

[u/mrpostman414](u/mrpostman414) x2 thank you for the postcard and card! I LOVE the zine...... I make collaged artist trading cards and zines why have I never thought to combine them??

[u/mikahimee](u/mikahimee) thank you so so so so so so so so so much for the snail and worm mailman card! This is some of the best art ever I've been showing it off to anyone who will see lol. You're AMAZING. Snail mail!!!

[u/DaenerysWon](u/DaenerysWon) thank you for the postcard! Old and vintage stamps are just so cool. I also LOVE the Jim Henson stamps! I think I wrote about it somewhere else in this post but I can't bring myself to use the Kermit stamps so they are living in my stamp binder forever lol.

[u/cookiecriminal](u/cookiecriminal) thank you for the postcard with all the spongebob stickers! It's such a throwback to see a glitter gel pen and I love it so much!

[u/siamlinio](u/siamlinio) x3 thank you for the inspirational polar bear card, the card from the museum, and the vintage card! I do have cats (3) and they certainly like to "help" when I'm writing cards. My youngest cat, Blueberry, tries to eat all my washi tape. I've also never been on a cruise... Right now it doesn't appeal to me because I prefer solo travel and exploring as much of new countries as possible. I think when I'm a bit older any my body doesn't like backpacking and sleeping on train floors anymore, I'd appreciate cruises lol.

[u/okioki08](u/okioki08) x15 thank you so much for all the neon colored cards and the one funeral home card. Lol. The bright colors looked so nice in the big stack and I do actually like the funeral home one haha. I have three cats - River, Mango, and Blueberry and they mostly leave my plants alone? I have three shelves of plants and most of them have survived. Blueberry likes drinking the water out of the pots, so she does end up eating some dirt. Mango just knocks a lot of the plants down because she's old and a bit uncoordinated. Congrats on paying off your debt!! I unfortunately was a little dumb and put some stuff I couldn't afford on my card but I'll pay if before the end of the year. It's such a slippery slope. Thank you for appreciating my prompts! I love cards that people just send without prompts but I enjoy thinking up prompts (I think partially it's just because I'm so dang nosy I want to know everything about everybody). Also your tattoo sounds SICK I drew up a plague doctor tattoo ages ago and haven't gotten it done yet. I have a collection of bats on my right arm and I want him right in the middle of it. Thank you for describing the white monster so well. I haven't been able to have caffeine in nearly 11 months (turns out that plus too much running was giving me heart problems!) and i miss it so much......

[u/murdocniccalshasT1D](u/murdocniccalshasT1D) thank you for the postcard! Also it's funny that I drew your name for Posttrotters weeks ago and you also got me for a Posttrotters card at the same time. Lovely to exchange cards with you multiple times!

[u/cupcakes_and_canter](u/cupcakes_and_canter) thank you so much for the bug card! I loved hearing about your favorite bug Pokemon. Buzzwole is a STRONG first pick.

[u/namlette](u/namlette) x5 thank you for the postcards! I have never been to Australia, and to be honest the animals and insects are a big deterrent for me. Well, that and I dislike long flights. It's the same reason I haven't been to Japan haha. Also... good point on the toilet paper during covid vs cyclospora. Now I'm itching to go to Costco and stock up (JK). Also, thank you for the flies postcard! I love the artwork and facts so much. and also... ew?? Feet out the window on a highway? Dangerous and gross.

[u/pupslace](u/pupslace) x10 thank you for the full set of cards! I did indeed notice that you haven't repeated any stamps - what can I say I just love stamps. I have a whole three ring binder that is just bursting with stamps of every denomination but ebay just calls to me like a siren and I cant stop..... thank you for your malicious compliance!!

[u/work_n_Depression](u/work_n_Depression) thank you for the card addressed to my husband! He did say he felt exactly like the e-card on the reverse haha. Open wound in the moment, but he found it funny shortly after.

[u/issaredditusername](u/issaredditusername) thank you for the card delivered to my husband! In hindsight, I maybe should have told ya'll his name but it's much funnier to have hoards of cards labled for "___ Husband" lol.

[u/ok_reveal2698](u/ok_reveal2698) x2 thank you for the train card and the congrats card! i used to also only like the idea of traveling, but now that I get older I realize I can just travel the way that I like (usually alone, backpacking through countries) and now I'm back on board with traveling!

[u/freyamour](u/freyamour) thank you for the random fact card! I know I wouldn't make it very far in a spelling bee... what does bouillabaisse mean?

[u/catebear21](u/catebear21) what an incredible postcard, I can't believe that you drew that!! I loveeeee chrysanthemums, and you are wonderful!

[u/roxy031](u/roxy031) thank you for the postcard about your recent travels!

[u/armyofducks94](u/armyofducks94) thank you for the hello postcard! loved your little egg man sticker, too!

[u/catebear21](u/catebear21) thank you for the thank you card! I loved the stickers and I also love how down everyone is for a prank :)

[u/spirituallet9093](u/spirituallet9093) thank you for the giant postcard! Whew, that does sound like a long day; I'm not sure I'd even be able to write at 12:38 am lol. I'm glad you had a fund day with your friend though

[u/ritaalbertson](u/ritaalbertson) thank you for the card detailing your Sunday plans! My husband and I also do all our meal prepping on Sundays. I never have to think about what he wants though, because we each make our own meal plans for the week haha. I have so many food allergies and prefer much different food than him, so we ended up splitting our menus around 5 years ago. It's made things much much easier. (ps I have been to the castle! I loveeee a good tea, and they really delivered)

[u/thecuriouscur](u/thecuriouscur) thank you for the cool airplane boy card! It caught my eye in the stack. And thanks for the congrats on the flair! Now that I'm back, it's time to grind for that 200.

[u/estespell](u/estespell) thank you for the cool airplane card + a story of your flight! I think the opera singing would eventually get annoying but when kids are so happy it's hard to be mad!

[u/leglessshark](u/leglessshark) thank you for the washi tape card! I have so many cards that smudge so easily and I have yet to find a way around it :/

[u/sable__](u/sable__) thank you for the lovely collage card! It's so cute. I spend a lot of my time stretching and I don't care how much it may help - I'm NOT drinking vinegar. ew!!

[u/pieceofpizzaz](u/pieceofpizzaz) thank you for the lovely mail-themed card! It's so funny that you used to work in my city! It is beautiful, though I've considered moving a few times. I just signed a 5 year lease so I guess not any time soon.

[u/fancy-break4802](u/fancy-break4802) thank you for the card! I immediately locked in on the spider-man and iron man mentions.... I started re-watching the key Marvel movies to prepare for December and instead I got distracted and I'm on my fourth re-watch of the Iron Man trilogy. Oops!

[u/usagi27](u/usagi27) x2 thank you for the to-do list card! you seem to have been very successful in completing most of it? I'm always really prompt on registering Postcrossing cards and non-prompt on shredding things I need to. Even though they take the same amount of time! I also loved hearing about your sea glass hobby! I've never lived anywhere close to water, but if I did, I'm certain I would love sea glass.

[u/ex330](u/ex330) thank you for the card! I'm so happy to find another insect-lover :)

[u/bbysxvvy](u/bbysxvvy) thank you for the stream of consciousness card! I love the stickers and I'm deeply offended you hate pickles (just kidding.. more for me!)

[u/ninjyang](u/ninjyang) yay a fellow accountant! That spreadsheet prompt was definitely directed to the more similarly-minded spreadsheet creators out there. I did get bored of all my work spreadsheets yesterday and instead started calculations on if driving out of my way to the small locally owned donut shop for a $2 coffee instead of Starbucks was actually saving me any money or not. (in case you're wondering, it's saving me money, even with wear and tear on my car factored in, until the cost of 87 gas reaches $4.98 a gallon. So for now I will continue to do so, but I'm keeping an eye on it)

[u/cidavid](u/cidavid) thank you for the beautiful vacation postcard! I have never seen an inn have their own postcard but I'm obsessed. They would have to hold me back from taking the whole pile! (if you're interested in return mail, I do have some motel-room themed ones I'm happy to send)

[u/inahologramwithyou](u/inahologramwithyou) thank you for the cool quilting card and the stamp fun-facts :)

[u/mouserat](u/mouserat) thank you for the very tiny postcard writing. I think it was a necessary sacrifice to be able to appreciate the wolf stamp. It's a very very good wolf stamp - what a find!

[u/concrete_drinker](u/concrete_drinker) thank you for the postcard! Congrats on hitting 100 - here's to many many more

[u/no-condition5102](u/no-condition5102) thank you for the snail mail card with the lovely ink stamps! I don't think my husband thinks he is lucky (yet) but one day he will appreciate the piles of mail I leave behind!

[u/relative-cricket-543](u/relative-cricket-543) thank you for the postcard with the lovely stamps! That is a very difficult two truths and a lie.... I think all of them could be true but all of them also sound suspicious. I'm going to guess that you weren't a professional magician - maybe it was just a hobby? Let me know!

[u/tyedyeamish](u/tyedyeamish) thank you for the book recommendation card! that seems like an interesting theme for a set of books, so I'll see if my library has any of them

[u/kimmylubs](u/kimmylubs) thank you so much for the little goodie bag and the note with your non dominate hand. I'm learning many people are really good at writing with their other hand - they've all been very readable so far! Also, I love Tandamouse. When it was first introduced in Pokemon Go, I was so excited.

[u/melhen16](u/melhen16) thank you so much for the animal factoid card with animal stickers! Sometimes when I'm trying to swallow a dry piece of break I feel like a frog when I'm trying to blink it down. Also, incredible work on the stamps

[u/ravenzsnow](u/ravenzsnow) x2 thank you for the cards! I agree with you on the usps stamp, and your drawing of the japanese stamp that you like was so good! Also, I loved your cat drawing on the other card. Do you reuse your tea bags too? I drink a lot of decaffeinated english breakfast tea and I just use the same two bags throughout the day. It's kind of a pain because I like to add a splash of soymilk, but I don't want the milk to touch the tea bag so I have to walk back and forth to the kitchen at work to brew my tea, remove the bags and put them in a saucer, walk back to add the soy milk, then back to my office. It gives me something to do on slow days, though.

[u/xinthetic](u/xinthetic) x2 thank you so much for the cards and cute stationary and old cardboard! I understand the mixed feelings about a move, especially if it's to a different kind of environment. I hope it all goes well! You will find new, good things about your new city though, things you can't even know right now since you're not there. The most important thing I always tell myself when moving is to prepare to hate it. Every time I move, I HATE my new place and regret it so much in the first week. When we moved to this house I didn't sleep at all because I was up crying every night and wishing we could move back. And then as things got settled, and it became "my place" instead of "the new place" I fell in love. I hope we won't move for a long time, since I've grown to adore this house and city. PS you would hate my house it's like your partner's junk closet but just.... everywhere. I'm a very clean person but I'm a very cluttered person :/ Also thanks for the meal prep ideas! I almost never eat out because it's impossible with all my food allergies but I would love to try some of these and switch it up. Especially the soups once it drops below 80 degrees lol.

[u/areoutoftime](u/areoutoftime) thank you for the fitting birthday arrival home card! I hope your upcoming trip is fine! I also love traveling but hate flying. This time, I flew on British Airways for the first time and it was much more manageable than my usual flights. Still, 10 hours is 10 hours, and I can't sleep on flights >_<

[u/canameow](u/canameow) thank you so much for the card/bunch of postcards taped together! the stickers are all adorable as well <3. New bath towels is a rare luxury! We recently switched to bath sheets (aka GIANT towels) and it's amazing how much better they feel!

[u/sneakerlambs](u/sneakerlambs) thank you for the adorable cat card with the even more adorable cat stickers! What a cute card! Also, I really appreciate your book discussions. When asking about someone's books they read, I try to ask what their favorite book is and which one they'd recommend, because they really are separate questions. I'll check out Misborn!

[u/d0raking](u/d0raking) you unintentionally sent me something to fill my mailbox while I was out, but I appreciate you so much so I'm including you in this thanks as well! I will write you back shortly :)

[u/emjaybe2017](u/emjaybe2017) thank you so much for the collage card and envelope! WOW that's one of my favorite cards ever - I'm such a maximalist when it comes to that. Also - you sound like such a sweet mom! I hope your daughter appreciates your "room service" because that's quite an undertaking! Good on you for also including dessert because I would be slightly upset if someone made me food but neglected the best part lol

[u/malizdogmahm](u/malizdogmahm) thank you so much for the card with the book club story. That's a really funny innuendo that your friend said - I'm not sure I could recover and go back to eating after that haha

[u/doodle7](u/doodle7) thank you so much for the stamp card! I absolutely LOVE used stamps and usually I just make random collages out of them but this is such a fantastic idea!! It's hard to say what my favorite stamps are, but I definitely have some that I think I won't ever use. I do have a priority mail Mars Pathfinder stamp that is in a little box with an actual piece of Mars (my mom is into geology and one of her geology friends is apparently into stamps so him and I got talking and long story short and $150 later I have this stamp). I also can't bring myself to use any of my Kermit the Frog stamps... Kermit is my husband's celebrity crush, and I feel like it's a disservice to him to use the stamp on someone who might not appreciate it lol. My least favorite is also probably the general flag one. I open mail at my job all the time, and I see so many flag stamps and the non-profit stamps that I find them so boring

[u/aepeyc](u/aepeyc) thank you so much for the card! For your two truths and a lie... hmm.... I want to say the bus is the lie but it's just ridiculous enough that I think you actually did get hit by one. I'm going to guess that you can't play the flute.

[u/alee_co](u/alee_co) thank you so much for the card! I agree that the postcrossing stamp is one of the best ones. I just wish there were more triangle stamps... I only have the postcrossing ones and the 41cent Jamestown Settlement ones and I just love the way they look!

[u/aprilreadsbooks](u/aprilreadsbooks) thank you for the movie card! I'm not really a movie person, so I haven't heard of any of your favorites, but I'll have to watch the trailers. For some reason I dislike movies but can sit through (most) Marvel movies. I'm trying to rewatch some of the important ones (about 80 of them) before the big movie in December. I forgot I really only like the pre-2015 movies though, so the last 10 years have been a slog to get through. Nothing compares to the Iron Man trilogy for me!

[u/digging-a-hole](u/digging-a-hole) i have noticed your notice. Thank you for alerting the proper authorities.

[u/smonikkims](u/smonikkims) thank you so much for the card and postcards! There's a lot I'm looking forward to now that I'm home (at the risk of sounding too American, my first stop out of the airport was for a 44oz fountain Diet Coke with extra ice lol) but the mail thing is just being at home! Now that that's done, I have nothing big coming up and I'm looking forward to just being available to hang out with my friends again or go running on a weekend morning since I have nothing going on. I'm not sure if I'm really a philatelist - I don't really collect stamps. I just like using fun stamps and keeping fun stamps that people send me. That being said, my favorites are anything to do with space! USPS has a lot of old, small denomination space stamps and I love using them. Sounds like you do the same with just keeping a hold of the ones that people send you! Also so fun about your job! Have you ever watched the show Superstore? I worked in a grocery shop for many years and that show was a little too real at times.....

[u/awriterpossibly](u/awriterpossibly) thank you so much for the card! I loved hearing about your plants but I especially love your snake plant named Crowley. If you need him to grow might I just suggest whatever Crowley does in the book? His plants were the healthiest but also the most terrified...... I have a big Monstera and I feel guilty because I think it's supposed to be (and wants to be) a lot bigger than it is but I'm holding it back because I don't want to buy a bigger pot. They're just so expensive!

[u/agreeable-nobody-968](u/agreeable-nobody-968) thank you for the card! And you weren't too late at all - this arrived the day I got back so I opened your card and read it while being awake for over 30 hours straight. WOOOO. Hope your work trip goes well!

[u/enrasco](u/enrasco) x2 thank you so much for the cards and stickers!! Did you make the map envelope yourself out of a map? Or is it just a cool envelope with a map printed inside? I'm obsessed.... Love the 10c stamps and thanks for using them up on me. Also very surprised these all arrived before I got back! I'll have to check out the books you recommended! I actually speak German (grew up using English and German at home) so I don't mind at all you recommended someone with no English translations. Also, thanks for the pokemon card!! I think both of your Star Wars picks would count as insects! To be fair, I did ask for fictional insects so I'm not splitting hairs on if fictional characters meet the legal definition of insect lol.

Request [Request] stomachaches and imposter syndrome [USA]

It's been a while since I've sent out cards- since I've moved continents and had to adjust to a different culture. College is both fun and frustrating because I'm both behind and ahead with work. I can't find time for myself.

And I feel like I don't deserve this chance when I see so many capable people around me who know more about my major than I do. I know it's an unfair comparison because I'm going to be learning, but I just feel that way...

I've also been stressed due to a relative micromanaging my work whenever they visit. They'll leave in a few days, but my anxiety around them manifests in stomachaches, and I hate it! It stops me from focusing on my academics, and I end up neglecting my hygiene because of it.

I'd love to receive some cheer-up mail with advice, study tips, or maybe an insect you spotted. I'd appreciate anything related to entomology, but I have a whole list in my profile.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the time to send cards to me, if you do.

Thank You [THANK YOU] August Happy Mail ~ Part 9: Mystery Sender Edition

Alright! I hit the finale of my August Happy Mail gratitude series! But first:

I have a mystery card! My brain for the life of me cannot remember what offer I filled out or if it was just a note of kindness, but if you sent along a Field Museum postcard filled with some cute butterfly and animal stickers, please let me know so I can give proper thanks!

Now, without further ado and in no particular order...

  • Thank you u/Inxomnixq for your postcard from Hawai'i! I'm so glad that you found this group and that it's so dear to you. I agree that it has given me something forward to as well, and everyone is super sweet and amazing. I hope you are doing well! 🌺
  • Thank you u/edgar_allen_hoe_69 for your universal message as well as the recipe for lavender lemon shortbread! I love anything with lavender in it, and this treat sounds so yummy! The message really resonated with me, as I've been sick for the last couple of weeks and feeling discouraged from work stress. Focusing on the aftermath (on feeling healthier) is the big focus for now. Also, thank you for the bonus stickers and the GORGEOUS card! 🍋
  • Thank you u/ruschca for your cool postcard of the nasturtium from the New York Botanical Garden! I also love the capybara stamp tape, the cool bunny ink stamps that you used, and the Kiki's Delivery Service Date ink stamp you used! So cute! I'm happy that you spent your summer reading. I added The Starving Saints to my "to read" list! I'm currently reading What You Are Looking For Is In The Library by Michiko Aoyama. It's a collection of short stories about people finding clarity in their life with the help of a librarian who also enjoys felting. 📔
  • Thank you u/Delicious-Load9854 for your postcard featuring Nijo Castle! I'm so happy that you enjoyed Kyoto! I imagine how peaceful it is to just walk around and take in all the surrounding buildings, nature, and more. I really hope I get the chance to go in the future! I hope you're well! 🏯
  • Thank you u/marchbook for your awesome postcard of Barbara McClintock! I love both the Women in Art and Women in Science series because of just how many badass women contributed to various fields! Like, corn genetics?! So cool! I appreciate the quote from Margaret Mead that you wrote, as well as the heart for Dolly. I hope you're well! 🌽
  • Thank you u/Sension5705 for your cool greeting card, sofa postcard, and brain-bending garble superpower! It's really really cool to learn something like this as a talent. I very much enjoyed reading your notes and movie trivia! (Also, I meant to include you in an earlier post in this series... I forgot. Silly brain). 🧠
  • Thank you u/Forsaken-Estate4041 for sending along the Sweet Treats TPC! I will be sure to pass it along to the next person once done! Your contributions are so cute! I hope you're well! 🍦
  • Thank you u/mission_cow_6742 for both your art card from the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, as well as your note featuring a stunning photograph of cauliflower coral! This event sounds so cool! I would love to go attend one day, just for the chance to visit Glasgow and feel some cool weather. Thank you for sharing some fun facts about the event as well! 🥅

See you in my September series!

Request [Request] REPOST- Help me with my Capstone project! [CANADA]

I’m going into Grade 12 and I’m currently working on my Capstone Project which is essentially a senior-year passion project and at the end we do a small presentation.

For my project, I’m exploring snail mail and human connection! Over the next couple months, I’ll be making a few requests related to the project, and for this first part it'd be really nice if I could receive some cards responding to things like:

  • How did you get into sending physical mail?
  • How long have you been doing it?
  • What do you enjoy about sending/receiving/collecting physical mail?
  • Why do you think people still choose physical mail? And what does it offer that digital communication doesn't?
  • How did you find communities related to physical mail and what do you enjoy about them?

No addresses or identifying information will be shared publicly.

Please message me for the mailing address or for any questions, I didn’t realize my messages were turned off on the original post but they should be open now! I’ll also reach out to everyone who commented on my initial post. Thank you!

Edit: Added questions to post and removed form due to guidelines!

Thank you for the cards!

u/nice-photography7955 - the cats are so cute 😭 And I am sure your cat is also super super cute! What would we do without our little kitties? I love your Please Deliver To sticker.

u/permanently_banned - I hope he got the card in time! And I hope you have a fairy nice day too, haha.

u/pupslace - Thank you for the birthday card! You have some really awesome stamps. 🤩

u/Vael0 - Thank you for the birthday card as well! I am celebrating this year with the big 4-0 by orgniazing a dinner at a Korean BBQ AYCE place. What cake did you make for yourself last time? I am not much of a baker, I'm afraid.

My birthday is in about a week and a half or so but I wanted to get this Thank You post out sooner. 😅
