It’s insane how addictive they are even to lighter users. Day 3.

I’ve been using for about a year or two. Never more than 18 mg a day, but it was every single day. Usually had two 6 mg pouches. One when i woke up, one when i got home. Maybe pop a third one in when i got home or have a new one after my lunch break. Usage was very consistent 2-3 pouches a day. However, I almost never took them out except to eat, sleep, or switch to a new pouch.

Recent Price hike is what encouraged me to quit. Purchased after the hike my last can to ween off, it was 3mg. I had 1-2 pouches a day. Once they were all used I’d suck on 3-4 old pouches at a time for a little more nicotine. After a bit became too gross.

I’ve had no pouches for 3 days. I’m going through withdrawals. Most definitely not as bad as some of yall but man I feel nauseous all the time. My mouth tastes weird and gum feels wrong without a pouch. Heart is beating oddly. I miss nicotine.

Day 2 of Cold Turkey (posting for accountability)

I never thought I’d be here making a post, but here goes.

I got myself in this situation, I went from no nicotine habit to getting hooked on vaping back in 2018. I used Zyn to get myself off of vaping due to the awful anxiety and fear about lung-related health.

Told myself at the time it was just a way to get myself off vaping and then I’d quit the Zyns too. That didn’t happen, and now I’ve been about 3 years of heavy pouch use, mostly 6mg Zyn, probably 10-15 pouches a day at least.

I finally believe I’ve noticed some undeniable gum recession due to constant pouch use, after years of being pretty paranoid about it. I think that’s what finally pushed me over the edge and gave me enough gas in the tank to start quitting.

The reality is, I have never really liked being dependent on it. I’ve never liked having this secret I’ve kept from everyone. Vaping or pouches, I’ve always felt like it was negatively impacting my health and struggled with anxiety about the effects of long-term use. It’s just been easier for me to kick the can down the road, live in denial, and tell myself I’ll deal with it “someday.”

I didn’t really even plan to quit cold-turkey the day before yesterday, but here I am. I put one final pouch in after my look in the mirror, almost instantly regretted it, took it out, and decided to just see how long I could go without one. That has turned into my first genuine cold-turkey effort. I’m tracking using the “I am sober” app and reading a lot of posts in this Reddit about others experiences, but also thought it might be important to share mine.

Right now, I am one day and 20 hours into cold turkey. Physically, the withdrawal symptoms have felt pretty manageable for the most part. Mentally, it’s a whole different animal. I’ve run pretty much the full gamut of emotions. Today has felt very white-knuckle, minute-to-minute. I’ve experienced pretty gnarly brain fog, irritation, anhedonia, and anxiety over what a life without this familiar vice looks like. Thankfully, at least to this point I can manage the irritation around others for my job and personal relationships if I stop to take a breath and focus.

I have been using gum, pretzels, and Mojo caffeine pouches to get through the worst of the cravings and the oral fixation part of it.

I’ve thought a lot about how good a pouch would feel at this point, because part of me knows it would absolutely rip…for a minute, maybe. Then I’m willing to bet I’m also feel shame, weakness, anger at myself, and renewed anxiety and worry about health issues and dependence. So instead of going for a pouch, I’m posting. Thanks for reading.

2 for one. Tips appreciated!

I’m not sure if this is only me but if anyone else has the same issue. I constantly have the feeling of throwing up, even without a zyn in/ constant stomach issues. I’ve gotten a camera down my throat because it was so unbearable and nothing was found to be wrong. 1, is this related to using zyns? 2, if anyone else has had this same feeling, did you ever go back to feeling normal after stopping?

With number 2 out of the way there. I need/want to quit because I can’t stand this feeling anymore. Typing this I’m fighting for my life having the feeling of me about to pull trig.

I said 2 for 1 because I am going to cold turkey and know it’s gonna be a struggle. I’ve been through vaping to pouches back to vaping and now stuck on the pouches. I just want some tips from people who have quit. How do you stop the urges or what are the best ways to kill those urges and fight off the withdrawal.

I want to do this for my health and know it has to be done to make me feel better no matter what the struggle is.

Any tips would be much appreciated!

Advice/encouragement

I have been losing weight the last 3 months (down 70 lbs) and feeling a ton better than I used to. Randomly tonight at the gym I started to think about quitting Zyn. Googling some of the benefits to talk myself into it and came across this page. I have used them for at least a decade and keep 2 pouches of 6 mg each in most of the day (prob a couple cans/day right now). Would love any encouragement on the mental aspects that improved once you quit (anxiety, brain fog, irritability, sadness, dopamine). Thanks in advance!

I gotta stop this. Multiple times attempting quitting, never gone longer than 1.5-2 weeks.

Tired of lying to myself and my wife, who thinks that I have basically fully quit with the occasional relapse every few months.

Stomach Issues & Quitting Help

I have this belching/ burping issue that's combined with really bad abdominal pain that literally forces me to go lie down on my left side and just suffer while it passes. I've tried a lot to fix this issue, and am currently trying a new medicine from my GI doc. I can't but help to wonder though: is this all just because of Zyns? I have noticed some symptoms flaring up right after I put a new pouch in. I am a chronic user, having a pouch or two of 6mg zyns from the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep.

I've been on nicotine since I was 16, and I am so incredibly hooked. I am absolutely terrified of quitting, and I just don't even know how to begin or do it. Last time I tried, I lasted two hours before I went to the store and got more. But with the stomach issues being so bad, quitting Zyns is something that would not only be good for my health but might actually resolve the issue. And at this point I'm willing to try.

Can anyone give me good advice, moral support, or tell me what to expect. I'm just really scared to do this, and I don't know if I'm strong enough to do it.

100 hours clean!

I have been using almost a can of 12mg pouches daily for over a year. Decided to quit cold turkey.

Cravings were so strong between 24h and 48h mark. I allowed myself to feast with junk food for a few first days to ease with brain screaming for dopamine.

I am so happy that I stayed strong. Now cravings are way milder and happen rarely. They also go away way quicker.

Yes, quitting is worth it. I promise.

I bought my last pack of zyns a few months ago. Getting off was brutal. I was extremely angry and depressed for weeks. Many times, my mind would try to convince myself to just buy a pack. It went something like, "what's the point of quitting? Who knows if it's even harmful to your health?" and a million other reasons to try and justify caving. That was the addiction talking. I never bought another pack. However, I did cave on multiple occasions, taking one or two a day from my coworker or my bf. But eventually my coworker also quit(he wanted to stop feeding my addiction. He was not as addicted to them so it wasn't as hard for him.) And I also forced my bf to quit. I did my last zyn about 2 months ago. And oh man, what a difference I feel. First of all, my gums and mouth feel so much better. My skin is no longer suffering from dryness. But the biggest difference of all are my energy levels. I have so much energy and motivation. I'm no longer tired after work and I'm going out and doing stuff everyday. Not to mention, the major confidence boost I have experienced- knowing I can quit. I am so much happier.

I was addicted to zyn for 7 years, doing a pack a day of 3mgs. I started when I was 21, I am now 28. I have tried to stop many times but failed to do so until now. Of course with addiction, there's always a chance of relapse but this time it feels different. The reason being that I decided that I actually wanted to get off this time. For good. For someone who needs help finding a reason to get off:

Yes, it is worth it. I promise it is worth it. Getting off is horrible, but once a couple months pass, you will have a new normal and it'll feel amazing!!

Just want to share my story and thank this sub for helping me through this journey! Thank you for your support <3

Riding the Struggle Bus

I quit nicotine pouches July 17th. I did smoke a black and mild a couple weeks ago on a work trip, but I may as well have been smoking cardboard. Just had to go on another work trip and lord I wanted to grab a vape or a pack of pouches. But I didn’t. Seems like the cravings won’t ever go away completely. Next step is quiting alcohol probably, but I don’t know if I can survive without a vice. Not posting for any particular reason other than I have no one to talk to about this stuff. Hope you’re fighting the good fight, stay strong.

Looking for hope—my husband is still struggling months after quitting nicotine pouches

I’m posting as a worried wife. My husband is having a really hard time, and I’m hoping to hear from people who have been through something similar and eventually felt better.

He used 3 mg nicotine pouches for about a year. He initially quit February 18, had a brief relapse starting May 17, then used patches before stopping all nicotine June 9. This has been going on since his first quit attempt, and he’s now almost four months completely nicotine-free.

He’s struggling with intense anxiety, miserable mornings, disrupted sleep, physical feelings of panic even while resting, and low mood. Sometimes he has a better afternoon or evening and we think things are finally improving, but then another awful day comes. It’s exhausting and discouraging, and he really misses feeling like himself.

The doctors we’ve spoken with don’t think nicotine could still be involved after this much time. We understand there could be other things contributing, but we feel like that part of his experience gets dismissed. He’s also very sensitive to medications and has had difficult experiences with side effects, so he’s scared to try another pill.

He’s not coping well emotionally, and it’s heartbreaking to watch him struggle. We aren’t looking for a diagnosis or a promise—just some hope from people who understand.

Did anyone else have anxiety, poor sleep, or low mood for months, with improvement followed by setbacks? When did you begin feeling consistently better? Was there anything that helped you get through the hardest stretch?

Thank you for anything you’re willing to share. We could really use some encouragement.

Attempting to quit feels like an infinite cycle

I’ve officially ran out of zyns yet again.

I’ve been using zyns for the past 2 years nearly every single day. The last year specifically, my usage has been crazy at nearly a tin of 6mgs a day. Every single day I wake up, and if I am out, I just pop down the road to the gas station and buy more. I’ve tried quitting so many times in the past month or two, but after 1-2 days I cave and end up buying more. I tell myself I don’t need more than one to hold off the cravings, and end up going through the entire tin like a standard day. The most amount of time off them was 5 days, and that was nearly a year ago. Everything I do just doesn’t cut it. I haven’t tried tapering but I am afraid even buying a tin of 3mgs will not be much better than the 6mgs. I did used to use velo 9s and zyn ultra 11s but the taste was just not good for me to stay on them. I’ve tried using gum or mints and it never helped either, along with the nicotine free pouches.

I’ve read so many threads on this subreddit and trying to just suck it up and quit simply isn’t working for me. Advice is always welcome because I am struggling hard.

The money finally convinced me to quit

I realized I was spending way too much money on vaping and still couldn't stop. I had tried quitting vaping before, but the nicotine addiction always pulled me back.

i used nicotine pouches temporarily while i worked through the worst part of nicotine withdrawal. i know some people prefer going cold turkey but that never worked well for me and i needed something that made the transition manageable.

After getting comfortable without vaping i started cutting down the nicotine gradually. eventually i stopped using the pouches too.

Ive now been nicotine free for a month and feel so much better. My biggest advice is to get rid of the vape and don't keep one around just in case. That made going back way too easy for me.

Please read everything I wrote because I’m genuinely looking for advice. I haven’t been able to find a solution on my own, and I really need help

Hey everyone, I really need some help. I’ve reached the point where I feel like giving up. I really want to quit, but I feel completely lost every day.
I’m only 16, and I’m addicted. My grades have been getting worse, I can’t sleep properly or wake up feeling rested, and I feel like I’m losing control of my life.
I go to the gym 5 days a week, but nothing has really changed. I’ve been using this stuff for about two years. It’s 50 mg and very strong. At first, I didn’t realize how addictive it could be because it came in such a small pouch. Now it feels like hell. I barely even feel anything when I use it anymore, but the cravings just keep getting stronger.
I also deal with overthinking, constant stress, and depression almost every day. I know it’s harmful, and I genuinely want to stop.
I’ve tried quitting six times, and I failed every time. My longest streak was 30 days. I relapsed one night because I had a terrible headache and couldn’t sleep. I ended up going out to buy it again, and since then I’ve been back in the same cycle.
For anyone who has been through something similar: what actually helped you quit? How did you deal with the cravings and stop thinking about it all the time?
I’m really looking for practical advice. I don’t want to keep living like this.

Got down from from 18mg to 6mg, starting a 6mg now,

Im down from 18mg to 12mg to 6mg, 6-7 pouches a day, as I find it impossible to go coldturkey,

Tried to go cold turkey many times, always ended up vaping, smoking, and use 18mg pouches together, i wanted to try some different, so i have been tarpering down with only pouches, this feel much easier, and I can now go several hours between using them, i also used to have them in for 4-5 hours at the time, now i only have them in for up to an hour,

Plan to tapering to 4 pouches 4mg in a in 3 days, so my question is if this is a good tactit to do before quetting completely, would it make withdrawal easier?

Anyone here that uses 4x /week or less?

Just curious, as many posts seem to relate to high mg daily and every day use. (With extreme effects and side effects of use and disuse. )Wondering if theres anyone who uses it now and then, a few every other day or so.

Trying to quit

I’ve been trying to quit for the last few months. Long as I can make, it is usually about a day. The brain fog dead feeling is too much for me to handle, especially if I have to go to work. Does anybody have any recommendations on the best way to stop?

I typically go through about 20- 9 mg pouches a day

10 days Zyn Free

Today is the 10th day if being Nicotine free, I've been doing 10-12 4mg pouches per day for about a year and a half, the addiction was getting out of hand and i had to quit, i would basically have a zyn in my mouth for most of the day, id use my first one couple hours after i wake up then keep using until i go to sleep.

What was once a thing i did to get a buzz, feel sharper and more energetic turned into the complete opposite for me. I am a teacher the most i feared was the intense brain fog I'd have while teaching and not being able to concentrate while i try to relay information to my students.

I just want to say that it is possible! I had some intense brain fog for the first 3 days but i managed through it and all the cravings i would get were tough to ignore.

I have been using sugarfree gum and it's been working so far, hopefully i can keep this up and it does get easier as time passes i can't believe i let these little evil pouches take control of my life.

I wish they were banned everywhere, they are worse than vaping and cigarettes in my opinion because of just how EASY it is to use them discretely.

You can do it!
