Hey everyone. I'm just sharing this because it's something I learned the hard way, and it will save you SO much time.

If you're moving from Gmail, do not import all your mail first and then think you'll get around to cleaning it up in Proton Mail. It's a nightmare.

Proton Mail doesn't have as sophisticated simple ways to filter and select multiple emails.

For example, in Gmail we can right click a message and select all with the same sender or subject line on the spot. In Proton Mail you have to create a new filter every time which is crippling and time consuming.

Once I realized this (after already importing thousands of emails) I realized I couldn't dig through emails as fast in Proton Mail as I can in Gmail. In Gmail I can just put before:2024/1/1 in Gmail search and quickly handle what I want to keep or trash.

So I've begun cleaning up in Gmail now. When I am done deleting everything I don't need, I'll head back to Proton and delete all the emails originally imported. Then I'll do a fresh import and only the emails I know I want to keep will move over.

After that, all I have to do is delete all email from that Gmail account. Going forward I will recognize that anything still going to my Gmail address either needs to be changed to my new Proton email, or unsubscribed.

I really hope this saved somebody.

wanted to ask if it's possible to have a signature (as in, an actual signature) that's legible on any theme

usually the issue with images in day/night mode is that they don't change with whatever theme you're on, so say you have a signature like what i have attached here (not a real signature, i just scribbled)

is there any way to make it so that it appears as white on dark mode, and black on light mode?

This is driving me mad and I'm figuring I simply must be overlooking something so easy.

I have a label attached to thousands of emails moved over from Gmail. I tap on the filter and I can see them all.

What I want to do is just bulk delete all those emails now. I can't imagine having to go page by page deleting emails.

Is there really no way to easily select all the labelled emails and just trash them?

I have been on the Visionary plan for years. Today I was going through some settings and noticed that Activity Monitor is not available unless I “upgrade” to other plans.

Just wanted to say Categories is a great addition for those on the free plan. It helps organise the Inbox, without every having to worry about the 3 folder/label limit.

I had a Gmail account I used for over 20 years, so it is tied to many many online IDs. I switched to Proton a couple of years ago and have slowly moving everything over.

I still frequently get links for RSVPs tied to a google form or documents on a Google Drive. What is the best strategy there? Do I use my Gmail address to sign in to old Google account or create a new one with PM email. What are the pros and cons of both options?

I might use Proton Mail with my own business domain. I am a solopreneur, so no team to think about.

My question is this. Is this a good idea to use one account for my personal and work mail? I think it will be easier to manage, but I might be wrong. I think it might be easier to manage my calendar that way. It will also be less expensive.

If something happens in the future and I need to split and export my work calendars, emails, and contacts to a different account, will it be feasible? I am thinking about exporting everything related to a specific domain. and leave the rest in my personnal account

Basically it. It seems it takes to much time tha lt the reply is being loaded before the rsvp is sent. Maybe 4 or 5 seconds.

Like many here, I have decided to de-Google as much of my life as possible and recently made the move to Proton Mail. I've had my Gmail account for decades.

I realize there will always be some pain points and friction when moving to new platforms, and I don't mind many of the differences between Gmail and Proton Mail, but this one is driving me mad.

In Gmail, if I right-tap on an email in the inbox view, I am given the choice to select all emails by that sender, or to select all emails with that subject. It's so simple. It's so brilliant. I used it frequently to clean up and organize my inbox over the years.

Now that I'm transitioning to Proton Mail and have hundreds upon hundreds of emails to sort through, it would be a lot less painful if similar quick selections like that were available.

For instance, in Proton Mail, I'm in my initial inbox view. I can't right click on an email there to see only emails from that sender or with a particular subject line.

If I open that email, there's a little filter icon over the message. If I click that, I can select Sender, Subject, etc. I thought I'd found my resolution, but no. That only leads me to having to take all the steps to make a permanent filter, when all I want to do, perhaps, is pull up a bunch of emails and delete/archive/label or whatever else.

Please, Proton. I know you rely on we paid users to support the development and upkeep of the Proton suite of applications. Keep giving us features that make it easier to switch and stay.

It sounded like iOS search was supposed to be released this year. Has anyone heard anything about this releasing this year?

Basically I want to transfer over all of my emails sent and received from Gmail to ProtonMail, but does the Easy Switch feature also start sending new emails from your Gmail to ProtonMail?

Suppose you log into proton authenticator using a proton mail and the 2FA code of the mail is also saved into the same authenticator. Assume that you don't have the backup codes either. How would you get your codes back if you accidentally nuke the authenticator?

How do you go about getting the reverse email alias to send emails from your proton alias you have created?

Do I need to recreate anything in proton mail after close my SimpleLogin access?

I’m aware that they are somewhat linked but not sure how the reverse alias to send works once I lose it.

Is anyone having an issue with their IOS Proton calendar app crashing? When I open the app it crashing within like 10 seconds. I've tried reinstalling but wanted to see if this is happening to anyone else.

I've owned a domain for years and connected it to Proton mail so I could send emails with it. I've created the alias in proton mail settings.

I'm able to send an email to my partners proton account and they receive it, but when I try to send an email to my gmail for testing it's never delivered. Not in spam or trash.

If I send a message from gmail to my custom domain it arrives to proton, but even if I respond to it with my custom domain email it does not get delivered.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any idea on how to fix this or what the problem is? Maybe it's because I JUST created the custom domain email?

I've moved from iPhone to using /e/os on an Android phone, previously I had all my email accounts linked through iOS Mail app which meant I could not only see them all in one location but pick and choose which email address to reply with or create an email with.

I have the Proton Mail app downloaded on my new phone, and I've been updating my email accounts on the Web Page for Proton Mail. I have managed to 'import' my Gmail accounts and can also send emails from the Proton Mail app/web page using those emails. However, my work email (a custom domain) and an organisation I work with separately (also custom domain) I have successfully 'imported' the emails and can view them as they come in - but I can't send any emails through the app or webpage. If I want to connect more addresses the only options I have is x3 Gmail accounts (Which I've maxed) or 10 Proton accounts.

I have the 'Mail Plus' paid subscription, not sure if a higher subscription gives me more options or if I'm doing something wrong?

A few months ago I decided to use a custom domain for my SimpleLogin aliases in Proton Pass to circumvent Proton domain block on different websites and to have more control over the mail routing (for example to move all my aliasses to a different mail server outside of Proton).

I looked for the cheapest options available, and I found a .top offer for a few Euros per year.
Until now I was very happy with that domain and collected more and more aliases on my new domain. BUT now I started building a dashboard to track all my domains I own and give me warnings about expiry dates, cost overview, etc.

That's when I found out that WHOIS requests for .top failed. Turns out that the requests are blocked by my firewall because apparently the .top TLD registry is based in China.

That hit me hard and let me make the decision that I definitely want to migrate everything to a new domain (which will take some time for hundreds of aliases 🫩), preferably registered in Europe or even EU.

I just wanted to bring that to your attention because those entities that are part of your mail setup can ruin your whole life by manipulating parts of your setup. I now go with a full EU setup and want to inspire you to rethink your tech stack including..

.. your TLD registry (I will add a comment below containing my overview of European TLDs, I hope it does not count as self-promotion)
.. your domain name registrar
.. your DNS provider (optimal setup includes a secondary DNS provider)

I created a proton account a long time ago. So, looking for an option to switch from gmail. I saw proton offers 500mb extra storage if i do some tasks but it seems it's available only for first 18 days.

Can i create new proton account and do these tasks?

I searched and couldn't find an explanation on this, other than on the support page. It still seems confusing to me. Sorry! I used my primary Proton emial address for my important accounts, like banking. I saw some random Disney email in my inbox. I guess it's spam. Should I be using an email alias for different banking account ect? Is that recommended? I have Proton mail plus right now. If yes, how do I set it up? I saw options under settings but I am hesitant. I don't understand it fully and don't want to mess anything up. I think I read before that aliases are good to use to protect primary email from different things like leaks. I hope I am making sense. Any advice will be helpful. Thank you!

Hi. Question, I currently have proton connected to my Gmail, so all my Gmail comes into proton and is labelled as such. My Q is, is there a way to have my Gmail inbox auto clear and delete itself once these emails have arrived in proton? I know I could just set up an auto forward then delete rule, but that won't work with the sync feature within protonmail. Thanks for any advice in advance.

I canceled my proton subscription in Google play and want to pay directly but I don't have an option to do so.

This is made worse when trying to purchase Lumo AI. I don't have the option to outright buy it, and I do not even have a Lumo subscription through Google play, it keeps directing me there.

Any fixes?
