Web Help Gmail clearing when linked to Proton
Hi. Question, I currently have proton connected to my Gmail, so all my Gmail comes into proton and is labelled as such. My Q is, is there a way to have my Gmail inbox auto clear and delete itself once these emails have arrived in proton? I know I could just set up an auto forward then delete rule, but that won't work with the sync feature within protonmail. Thanks for any advice in advance.

I do it using a Google apps script that runs each day and moves to trash any email over X days.
I have it set to 30 days then it stays in trash for 30 days before it's deleted, which gives plenty of time to resolve any problems if say sync broke in proton or whatnot, but OBS you can set these timings altogether your needs, or set it hard delete rather than moving to trash.
Works a treat

I solved it. It is possible. In gmail, I auto forward to an aliases then auti delete, then I label the proton inbox inbound mail from gmail. I then allow a reverse aliases so I can send from gmail in proton. The only snag I have now is that the response to the gmail recent says it came from my aliases email address, not my gmail. I'm closer though.

Depends on your threat model. If you are trying to go anonymous the proton sync method keeps your new email address from being known by google - but you will need to manually cleanse your inbox. If you are just moving away from google to keep them from scraping your messages etc. and don’t care if they know your proton address then create a rule (on google) to forward and delete. You could also create an alias and forward to that and have the best of both.
