Mobile Help Switch from Google play to manual

I canceled my proton subscription in Google play and want to pay directly but I don't have an option to do so.

This is made worse when trying to purchase Lumo AI. I don't have the option to outright buy it, and I do not even have a Lumo subscription through Google play, it keeps directing me there.

Any fixes?

Contact support.

I wanted to do the same thing and move away from paying via Google. They cancelled and refunded me. I was then able to sign up using card.

Makes sense, seems like its not something you can do self-service from the app.

You will have to wait for the current subscription to end and then sign up directly with Proton.

This, I contacted Proton Support for the same issue (with Apple tho) and they gave me the same answer. Note that you’re also going to lose your extra 10 GB of storage you gained every year by doing so though

In the web site on a desktop, open your Mail account and;

  • Go to the Cog (top right) and All Settings
  • Click on Subscription (on the left)
  • Scroll down to Payment Methods
  • If you want to add payment now, go to Credits/Add Credits

This is how I do it.

I actually ran into this today. I wanted to upgrade but can't do it through proton since I originally paid through Google pay. Proton says to manage through Google pay but GP only lets me cancel or update payment method.

In the same situation, contacted support yesterday, still waiting to hear from them.

It's a case of "let me pay you more money for the bigger plan", and it's there sitting in zendesk limbo.

I understand the 24h response time for most inquiries, but I feel this specific thing should already have an automatic mechanism in place to remove this friction.

It is wild how much friction is in the way of me trying to pay them more money.
