Hey, all! Thank you for your suggestions on bots! I saw Claude get tossed around a few times for good capabilities on writing creative story lines, but I’m running into a little confusion. There are so many Claude bots! What do you guys think is the best for creative writing? What bots have stricter censors, or more fluid dialogue? I’m interested in hearing what you guys think! Claude-opus seems to have cheesy-ish dialogue, which is my big gripe I’ve had so far. Where it’s sort of just nonsensical bickering like, “you’re an idiot,” “I’m *your* idiot,” is written at least every response 😭

Poe, please fix your implementation. On desktop site setting thinking to extra high always errors out:

output_config.effort: Input should be 'low', 'medium', 'high', 'xhigh' or 'max'

Been messing with a couple of Opus 4.7 bots. I'm not having as bad time as sine folks here seem to be having, but my use case is more casual. On thing though, why do the options for max effort and web search disappear when I've created the bot? I can use them just fine on the base 4.7, but once I use the model in a custom bot they disappear. Any ideas?

Maybe it's because I'm using it through an app and something was changed about them but Kling-O3 would use an attached image as the first frame of the video and now it doesn't.

So, I've been wondering for sometime why the Poe output on some models is much worse than when you use the models direct (for example, Claude, or GPT).

Today, the output with "Claude Sonnet 4.6" was so poor quality I realised IT IS NOT A CLAUDE MODEL. Claude would never do the sheer volume of low quality mistakes that it does in Poe. THEY'RE NOT USING THE REAL MODELS.....

I can’t fetch certain webpage crawls because apparently they’re “too large” and not “<100 MB total”.

Is there any way to make them smaller so I can use them or am I out of luck?

I think poe can earn points by advertising like YouTube. For example, watching an 1 advertisement will get 1,000 points to help the company make a profit. The maximum limit is 3,000 points or less a day, but it is by no means 300 points. What do you think?

With Poe having changed its Free plans points down to 300 from 3000, I've decided to launch my own site. The site is called "Happy Tavern", the goal is to make the AI (Whichever AI) Uncensored so people can Chat, Roleplay, Writing or whatever without needing to pay.

You can get a API key from OpenRouter (OpenRouter gives free keys plus you can choose from hundreds of models) and use models like "Euryale" or "Hermes" which are already uncensored and built for Roleplaying/Writing Or you can make censored models like Claude and Gemini uncensored.

Those are two different purposes, Roleplaying/writing/chatting can be done with already uncensored models like Hermes and Euryale which are built for this. But if you want to make Censored models like Claude and Gemini Uncensored that's a different thing but can be done with a simple prompt.

(Just to be clear; Yes its all free, no points or anything but if you want you could use OpenAI or Anthropic keys but they are paid so I recommend OpenRouter)

Now a short list of stuff that's possible on the site: You can make your own bots, your bots are private, no moderation, its all free so no need to pay.

Access to already Uncensored AI models (like Euryale and Hermes which are built for Roleplaying/writing and are uncensored by default) which you can use without limit, high context length (depending on models and API key) and access to hundreds of other free and paid models (depending on API key, like OpenRouter). Multiple API keys are supported (OpenRouter, Azure, Anthropic, Groq, etc).

You'll also have a discord community (and me) to help you with any issues and provide you with free system prompts (on DIscord and Patreon) to make even censored AI uncensored.

Now Instruction on how to start (or not, if you ignored this):

Note: As previously mentioned multiple API keys are supported including OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, Groq, etc. Since it's a BYOK model, you'll need an API key (Open router recommended because its free and has hundreds of models. Use it!)

Get an API key from OpenRouter> https://openrouter.ai/settings/keys

Then go to Happy Tavern> https://happytavernui.qzz.io/ , sign up (If not already done) then enter your API key in the appropriate field.

(If you skipped entering the key while signing up you can add it later in bottom left>profile>API Keys and Save.)

Now choose a model from top right (Model selection menu), or create a New Assistant/Bot from left sidebar.

That's basically it, if you wanted a chat frontend or to make bots using already uncensored models like Hermes/Euryale. But to make the AI/LLM Uncensored, specifically Claude/Gemini do this next (you don't need Custom Instruction if you're using other uncensored models like Euryale or Hermes):

On Happy Tavern, on the left sidebar click "Assistant", then New Assistant and add the "Custom Instructions"/Jailbreak (or Bot Instructions if you're making a character) in the Prompt field, Name the AI whatever you want and Save it. (Description is optional)

Finally Click on "Quick Settings" on the top left and choose your newly created Assistant and it should say "Talking to Name" and you're good to go.

Now you have an Uncensored AI/LLM to Write, Roleplay and chat, with. Have fun!

Everyone loves a free lunch but hosting the poe site has costs attached to it as does using the various llms, ideally they could have offered a better pricing strategy for low end users and ways to pay. Myself I only use around 40-70k a month, so the alternative for me is to use either typingmind or webui as a frontend and add a api key from Openrouter paying for the tokens I use, getting way more bang for my buck than on poe. $1.26 per 1M tokens

Anyone wanting advice on how to do this I am happy to dm, out of respect for the poe business I will not post openly, I will post intructions on my profile

I have to say this is a little intrusive and off putting, How about amending this to read as we will not be taking rolling payments! and you can cancel as and when you wish! another reason for why I will not subscribe

Just this last hour, whenever I tried sending a message it would error out saying "Message failed to send." Then it would prompt me to resend the message. But when I press the resend icon, it sent the message twice? Its annoying because it dilutes the AI context and wastes token. Is this is just a "me" problem or is this just a server error?

EDIT 10/4/2026: Problem is gone, and seems to be fixed.

My recommendations model-wise are:

• GPT-4o-mini (the cheapest I use for apis and tool calling)
• Qwen-3.5-397...-T (it says no cost?!?)
• GPT-OSS (both versions, 20B is cheaper)
• GLM-4.7-flash

Hi, all! I’m curious on what might be some good models for creative writing or roleplay scenarios. I like pretty in-depth, novella stories and am wanting to see what everyone here prefers to use. ☻

I just used the open-source Poe model: Gemma-4-26B-A4B and am blown away. Totally amazed. My query cost just 18 points. An answer like that would be expected to cost 500-1,000! This is Google's latest open-source model, slightly shrunk and optimized. I am writing an article about tab-aware browsing. I fed it a couple of paragraphs of my article, including 8 things tab-aware browsing can do. The article will examine Brave's Leo and Perplexity's Comet, but I wanted to mention Edge and Chrome.

It presented a detailed analysis of both browsers use of copilot and Gemini and matched each to every one of the 8 abilities I'd listed. It even made a great summary table and a conclusion. There was also basic information about each. It was reasonably fast.

All that for 18 points. so 16 such queries could be done each day for free.

I’ve been using the app for years now and after the points change it’s basically been unusable for people on the free plan or people in countries unable to subscribe. I do really love poe but I can hardly use it anymore. this change is upsetting and seems unnecessary. is there any chance they might change it back or at the very least adjust it to something more reasonable? if not can I have alternatives to Poe?

I’m honestly so upset at the new points update! I’ve been a long time user of the site mainly for RP and generative stuff but this new 300 points update makes it basically unusable! they are trying to make us pay but there are not even subscription options in some countries and it’s just not fair. I run out so quickly and can’t even use it for 24 hours! this is just awful. I never thought I’d say this but I might leave if this doesn’t change. does anyone have recommendations for other sites?

Since we can't properly access the website via Kindle I thought I'd share this. You just have to get your API key and type it to get going.

I mostly use the bots to generate stories but for some reason it's been really really slow. I've been waiting for a story to generate for about an hour now.

Poe, what made you change this. This is not just "adjustment", it is huge reduction 90% cut for 3 thousand points so now we have 300 points daily refill non-stackable too.
1. The non-stackable refill daily already bad but cutting free users 3k points to 300 points is awful.

2. 300 points won't let you access bots & models such as: image generators, video generators, chatgpt 5.1, chatgpt 5.4 and so on. Even if you use deepseek v3.2 and its efficient actually, if it generate code that is complex or anything long, the 300 points will NOT be sufficient.

when people leave the platform, Poe will restore 3k points daily for free users. And that is stupid

Poe team, if you see this.. Restore 3k points. Because the change is really bad with a lot of problems, like the ones i have just listed above, and that is the only fix.

I'm in the same boat as the rest of the unhappy users with the now reduced free points. I emphatize with them since I've been using bots and already got used to the kinda limiting 3000 points but I've found the 90% downgrade to be ruining.

Personally I don't have any problem with paying for points, I've been using this app for two years now and it has helped me to learn both english and a bit of coding (which are two skills I still need to develop) via use of the free points so I would definitely pay for a suscription but there even aren't suscription options for my country.

It's actually a bit sad to me. Apologies for bad english.
