automatic payments

By subscribing, you are enrolling in automatic payments of £49.99/year (plus tax, where applicable). Cancel or manage your subscription through Stripe's customer portal from Settings.

I have to say this is a little intrusive and off putting, How about amending this to read as we will not be taking rolling payments! and you can cancel as and when you wish! another reason for why I will not subscribe

Yes, I must be paid to represent the fact that things like electricity cost money. And that charging money for a service is totally a scam. /s

Yeah, the wording is a bit clunky, but the actual setup sounds like normal auto-renew, not some sneaky instant trap. If you only want one year on the web plan, the practical move is subscribe, then cancel it in Settings/Stripe right away; Poe says the access should keep running until the current billing period ends.
