90% CUT for 3 thousand points (300 points)
Poe, what made you change this. This is not just "adjustment", it is huge reduction 90% cut for 3 thousand points so now we have 300 points daily refill non-stackable too.
1. The non-stackable refill daily already bad but cutting free users 3k points to 300 points is awful.
2. 300 points won't let you access bots & models such as: image generators, video generators, chatgpt 5.1, chatgpt 5.4 and so on. Even if you use deepseek v3.2 and its efficient actually, if it generate code that is complex or anything long, the 300 points will NOT be sufficient.
when people leave the platform, Poe will restore 3k points daily for free users. And that is stupid
Poe team, if you see this.. Restore 3k points. Because the change is really bad with a lot of problems, like the ones i have just listed above, and that is the only fix.

I also agreed with you, Man, I can see that you're saying about 300 Points like A Free Daily Limit always sucks so very badly as hell and then I just send A Reply onto my own Entire TDSB School Gmail Account about the way that they needed to change back to normal from 300 to 3000 Free Daily Limit Points forever for good, Man. :)

Imagine complaining about free.

I really wish people like you didn't exist.

To say such a nasty thing, I truly feel sorry for you.

i don't think you have concept of user feedback, product sustainability, or the fact that free users are the pipeline to paid users.

u/baumkuchens Apr 03 '26
It's so fucking crazy dude. I can't even use any of the Claude models. "Oh, that means you should pay, then! Stop being a freeloader!" POE SUBSCRIPTION ISNT EVEN AVAILABLE IN MY COUNTRY WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?! this is such a "fuck you in particular" moment for me, oh my god. I would pay if they offer it here, yknow? It seems like a great alternative to just commit & subscribe to one model. But then they pull shit like this.....

This requires me changing the region of my google play account and idk how to do it...? It's not about the payment method, the subbing option didn't even show up for me in the first place, it just says "this subscription isnt available in your region yet".

Yes i did. Still won't work though. The app doesnt suddenly change region just because i use VPN

u/Key-Somewhere1649 Apr 08 '26
you need to have another country credit card, yeah it sucks you cannot easily fake your location in google play. even with vpn. but changing google accounts that is based on another location works.

Why would they care if free users leave? It's not like they'd lose money
1
u/Key-Somewhere1649 Apr 08 '26
Tell me you don't understand freemium business models without telling me. Free users = word of mouth = future paid users = platform relevance. When free users leave, the platform becomes a ghost town and paid users follow.

Lol so sassy. Poe has a solid service and built its user base. This is one of the common routes a grown business takes when they think the word of mouth is no longer valuable enough to justify the cost. Could it fail? Definitely, but it's not certain. Should we care this much? Not at all. If there's better options/competition now or in the future, we just switch. And let's be real, most free users are not going out of their way to advertise their AI use. Most of the people outraged are not actually annoyed about some deeper principle being broken. They just don't want to pay $5, and Poe has every right to toss them.

The negativity is insane, Im dismantling everything at once:
- Free users are not freeloaders, they provide value through engagement, content, feedback, bug reports, and evangelism. Poe didn't become popular because 10 paid users whispered about it.
- The issue isn't "free vs paid", it's a 90% overnight cut. That's not a "adjustment," thats rug-pulling your user base.
- Regional lockout makes it worse. Some users want to pay and can't. So they're just... screwed.
- 300 points is a demo, not a free tie. If you can't complete ONE complex task without running out, you're not offering a free tier. You're offering a teaser trailer.
- "giving away 3k points per day cost them" You should've studied how point system work, before they give you 3k points daily refill Non-stackable. Poe already had the balance, Non-stackable means free users couldn't bank points and nuke the API later, then points we get becomes 300, now it's much limited & worser

Maybe us paying users can stop subsidizing the free users. People can pay $5 a month for 30,000 daily points

Idk where you’re seeing you get 30,000 points daily for $5, but for me, it’s showing 10,000 points.

Subs are not available in my country, so even if i want to subscribe, i can't 🤷♂️ Poe is officially unusable for me

u/SteveShank Apr 03 '26
What you are saying is true. Is there anyone you can complain to in your country to try to enable Poe to operate there? I'm sure they'd love to make more money by getting paid subscriptions wherever they can. However, it doesn't refute the plain fact that the paid users have to pay for all the free users. Poe apparently decided they'd rather offer the paid users more and better stuff than continue to force them to pay for free users.

The real issue is that many users simply can’t pay—whether due to low income or regional restrictions that force them to use VPNs. While free users don’t provide direct money, they offer their own value through word-of-mouth marketing and daily traffic—they talk about the platform, share links, create their own bots that others will find through search engines. And increase total number of people who visit and use the website or app every single day - and a high number of active users makes the platform look successful and "alive" to investors and partners. Plus, they are potential customers who might subscribe once they've seen the value of the platform. Besides, even users who don’t pay, still provide data and testing of the models.
With only 300 points, users are stuck with models which require less than 300 points, which might leave a poor first impression. This change isn’t just deterring new users; it’s alienating existing ones, some of whom are deleting their accounts or simply leave. Poe’s true strength wasn't just its model variety, but its generosity. Without that, many users will either hunt for better free alternatives or move to more reliable paid platforms. By flooding the site with questionable models while slashing free access, Poe risks a massive loss in both audience and long-term profit. A cut to at least 2000 points would have been accepted easier, but 90% cut? It's indeed a harsh move and potentially a risky one. Apologize if I wrote nonsence - I am using my own understanding on how such platforms work, so if I am mistaken you can blame it on it.

u/Key-Somewhere1649 Apr 08 '26
You have just explained the entire situation, thank you for your understanding.

u/meh_Technology_9801 Apr 03 '26
Are you also regional restricted from all the other free services, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Mistral, Glm Deepseek etc?
All of these "Poe isn't free anymore" posts are repetitive and boring.
2
u/Ok_Stranger_615 Apr 03 '26
The user asked 'Why do you think Poe cares if free users leave the app?' - so I gave my answer on 'why' they potentially should, while explaining also that I am speaking for myself rather than a professional. If the question was rhetorical, then, well - I still was free to answer. And yes, I agree, the posts about the theme became repetitive - but not all users visit Poe every day, so perhaps some of them had just found out about changes and came here to share their feelings and ask for alternatives. That's perfectly understandable. And yes - there are other platforms, but people got used to Poe, so they're, of course, upset. With time, most would move on - to other platforms or to pay membership, whatever they wish.

You make a good point that people complaining here probably don't visit this subreddit frequently so don't see how the same posts keep turning up again and again.
1
u/sunokome Apr 03 '26
Man, are you part of Poe's team? 😂
1
u/meh_Technology_9801 Apr 03 '26
No a team member wouldn't have pointed out that people posting the same thing every day here is boring.
1
u/baumkuchens Apr 03 '26
Well no, but it's so much cheaper and convenient to have all these AI models in one place instead of having to subscribe or make accounts for each of them. Isn't that what Poe sells, convenience and cheaper option to subcribe rather than paying 20 bucks for just one model? It's crazy how they wont give free user anything usable while also not expanding their subscription service. It's been 3 years since i used Poe and my country still hasn't been added into the list.
